"You've really done something unnecessary, Kamitani Yuu."
In the luxuriously decorated drawing room, Kayneth spoke with a look of dissatisfaction. Only the two of them remained; Waver and Iskandar had already departed after finalizing the terms of the alliance.
"Have I?" Yuu blinked, feigning innocence with a smile. "I merely clarified a teacher's protection and concern for his student."
"Hmph. Protection? Concern? That is nothing more than your wishful thinking." Kayneth turned his face away and let out a cold snort.
Seeing the "Lemon-head" in such a classic tsundere state, Yuu nearly lost his composure. However, out of respect for Kayneth's pride, he managed to suppress his laughter.
"Tsk... I assume you didn't come here just to talk about alliances?" Noticing Yuu's odd expression, Kayneth straightened his face and spoke in a serious tone. "If there is something else, say it directly. There is no need for evasion."
"Fine. Aside from the alliance, I would like to borrow one of your mana furnaces." Seeing Kayneth get straight to the point, Yuu became serious as well. "In exchange, I will provide you with a piece of vital intelligence."
Ever since replicating two blank Class Cards for Odin, the prana stored within Yuu's Heroic Spirit Class Cards was nearly depleted. He needed a massive replenishment of etheric prana. This didn't mean he couldn't use his Servant powers—after his first "leap," his body from the Land of Shadows had merged with his modern self in the form of spiritrons. In short, Yuu was now a "Super Age of Gods Human." However, his cards acted as containers for Noble Phantasms and extra reserves that needed charging.
Hearing Yuu's request, Kayneth shook his head, rejecting it without hesitation. "Intelligence? I have no need—"
"Don't be so quick to refuse. The news I have concerns the future survival of the House of El-Melloi." Yuu interrupted him, his expression solemn. "You would do well to consider it carefully."
"..."
Kayneth realized the gravity of the statement. He knit his brows, a look of deep contemplation crossing his face as he weighed the pros and cons. Finally, with a look of resolve, he looked at Yuu. "Fine. I accept the trade."
"A wise choice, Kayneth." Yuu nodded with satisfaction. He traced his finger through the air, and with a surge of prana, a Rune of Warding was inscribed. An invisible barrier expanded, isolating the two of them from the outside world. Even Fionn, guarding in the shadows, would not be able to break this barrier instantly.
With preparations complete, Yuu spoke with the gravity of a sage who had seen the future. "Kayneth, you are fated to die in this Holy Grail War. The House of El-Melloi will suffer a devastating blow because of your failure—to the point of near extinction."
"Enough! This is utter nonsense!" Kayneth's face turned ashen, and he instinctively raised his voice. "A boring magical competition in a backwater town—how could I possibly die here? If your intent was to provoke me, Kamitani Yuu, I tell you: you have succeeded!"
Facing Kayneth's fury, Yuu simply shook his head, having expected this reaction. No one hears of their impending death with a smile.
"Kayneth, calm down. I have no reason to lie to you." Yuu pointed to his pale gold eyes. In the next moment, a kaleidoscopic, rainbow-colored luster ignited within them. The brilliant, swirling flow of light was so mesmerizing it felt as though one's soul could be pulled into it.
"Everything I have said is a fragment of a future that will inevitably occur—seen through these eyes."
"This is—?!"
Stunned by the power being displayed, Kayneth froze, falling into a stunned silence.
"I never expected you to possess the legendary Rainbow-rank Mystic Eyes... truly unexpected." After a long while, he regained his senses, looking at Yuu with a complex expression. "However, this is just your word. How do you prove that what you say is true?"
Though he spoke skeptically, Kayneth's heart was wavering. Even as a Lord of the Clock Tower, it was his first time seeing such logic-defying eyes. In the history of the Association, Eyes of Future Sight or Past Sight were usually only Jewel-rank. Future Sight at the Rainbow rank was a power that transcended humanity.
This guy has low EQ, but he's not easy to fool... Yuu sighed inwardly. He was putting in a lot of effort to prevent this world from becoming a Singularity due to major deviations.
Still, I've come this far. Might as well push a bit harder...
Yuu phrased his words carefully, weaving a mix of truth and half-truths. "Unfortunately, these eyes do not show me the entire process—only fragmented pieces. After your death, the El-Melloi faction underwent a long period of internal strife. Eventually, they chose a young girl named Reines to become the head of the house."
"Wait... you said Reines?" Kayneth interrupted urgently, his brow furrowing. "My niece, who is only five years old? Don't be ridiculous. How could she possibly become the successor to the El-Melloi faction?"
"No, she is only the successor in name." Yuu waved his hand, a mysterious smile playing on his handsome face as he dropped the bombshell. "The one who truly inherits your title and Lordship is actually... Waver Velvet."
Kayneth: "???"
The idea of that magical failure, Waver, becoming his successor hit Kayneth like a thunderbolt. He was so dumbfounded he didn't know what to say.
"Kayneth, do not look down on Waver," Yuu said, his smile widening as he read Kayneth's thoughts. "He may be short and timid now, but he possesses an extraordinary, unique talent. By Clock Tower standards, his evaluative ability is at the Grand level. Furthermore... in the future, he might even 'marry' into your family as Reines's husband to fully integrate into the House of El-Melloi."
