Suzy went to her sister's room next.
Wendy had taken quite a few of Suzy's belongings—she hadn't even spared her bags and clothes.
Using the same method as before, Suzy swapped everything back, item for item.
The entire process took no more than five or six minutes.
Only then did Suzy finally feel a sense of release.
When she appeared at the top of the staircase again, her face had returned to that familiar pale, fragile look.
She descended slowly and happened to run into Tommy head-on.
Tommy snapped impatiently, "Hurry up and come eat."
With that, he walked ahead without waiting.
Suzy followed right behind him.
Suddenly, Tommy spoke again. "The sports car I told you to buy for me—did you order it yet? I can't wait anymore!"
Recently, Tommy had taken a fancy to a sports car worth five million.
He'd been making a huge fuss about it.
George knew Suzy had money, so he'd turned his attention to her.
Using Tommy's admission into college as an excuse, he asked Suzy to "reward" him.
George had put it very nicely—said that his cash flow was tight lately, and he couldn't afford to buy Tommy the car himself.
He'd borrow five million from her first, buy the car, and pay her back after some time.
Suzy had believed his nonsense, of course.
She didn't know why the version of herself in the dream had trusted George Kale so blindly, as if she'd been bewitched. Now, it felt as if she had truly awakened from a nightmare and regained her senses.
"Not yet," Suzy replied.
"Why not?" Tommy frowned.
Then, as if it were only natural, he added, "Never mind––perfect timing. Don't buy it yet—there's a new model out. Add another five hundred thousand and get me the latest one."
Suzy answered without hesitation. "Sure."
Tommy nodded in satisfaction.
Suzy smiled as well.
Yeah, right. If I actually buy him a car, I'll eat my own freaking hair.
Suzy knew Tommy's temperament all too well. He was volatile to the extreme. If things didn't go his way, he'd explode without warning.
And once he did, George and Wendy would immediately sense that something was off.
She had no desire to clash with Tommy here. If that happened, even leaving the Kale house could become a problem.
More importantly, Suzy didn't want the female lead to notice the change in her. If Wendy realized she retained her memories and had already activated the space, things would get seriously complicated.
The two of them arrived at the dining room.
Fiona had already prepared the meal and warmly called Suzy over.
This time, in an effort to curry favor, she'd gone all out—every dish was something Suzy liked.
After Suzy sat down, George enthusiastically piled food onto her plate, urging her to eat.
He kept glancing at her, clearly wanting to bring up the contract again, yet afraid of seeming too eager.
He waited for Suzy to ask first.
But the moment never came.
In the past, Suzy would always ask when she saw that expression.
This time, she acted as if she hadn't noticed a thing.
George grew increasingly restless. It was Wendy who spoke up instead.
"Suzy, my birthday's coming up soon. I'm planning to throw a party—you have to come," she said.
Suzy simply nodded, offering no further response.
Wendy continued, "Have you decided what you're getting me for my birthday yet?"
She winked playfully. Suzy felt a wave of nausea roll through her stomach.
George cut in smoothly, right on cue. "Suzy's already prepared something for you. Haven't you always liked her gold pendant? This year, she'll give it to you as your birthday gift."
Suzy nodded obediently. "Yes, Sis. I brought it with me."
Seeing how compliant Suzy was, a flicker of smug satisfaction and disdain passed through Wendy's eyes.
That sickly fool probably has no idea the pendant is actually a space.
At last, the meal—filled with hidden agendas on all sides—came to an end under a façade of harmony.
Suzy set down her chopsticks and gently dabbed the corner of her mouth with a napkin.
She lifted her clear eyes—tinged with just the right amount of timidity—and looked at George and Wendy.
Her voice was soft and mild.
"Dad, Sis… everything you wanted is in my bag."
