"What happened to my sapphire, to make her end up in a place this dark, hm?"
Amara heard those words again—a warmth that usually only came from Kaisar's mouth. Was this man back to his old self?
"You don't need to know my business, Doctor Diamond."
Kaisar kept his weight against the door, as Amara stubbornly tried to shut him out with all her strength.
"The pet name hasn't changed, I see." Kaisar gave a small, lopsided smile. "I'll take your words as an invitation. Fine... I'm coming in!"
Kaisar surged forward with more force, throwing the door wide. He was met with the gloom of Amara's room; it was dark despite the sun still hanging high in the sky. Not a single light was on, save for the faint glow from the bathroom.
"Are you meditating? Trying to become the Blind Warrior from the Ghost Cave?" Kaisar teased.
