Chapter 6 - End of the battle

Soaring then falling through the night sky—there is only one thing I can do. I need to use my ability. Thankfully, I didn't abuse it too much this time, so I think I still have a fair amount of uses left.

Now I have to lock eyes with my target. The man with Maya is on the run and is about to leave the manor. Goddamnit, Yuna and the others won't make it in time. There are too many white-clad people getting in their way.

Speaking off they're too many in my way, too. I don't have a clear view of Maya. What can I do—-What can I do?

I'm gonna hit the ground.

In that moment, I heard something.

Pointing a short wand with a blue stone at the tip, she cried, "O power of creation wielded by the true creator and the remnants of the falsegod, be my aid and clear this path!" It was Yuna.

"What was that…"

Before my eyes, a path was carved open. As if a giant hand had come between them to forcefully open a path, whatever it was sent all the white-clad flying.

Now's my chance—but.

"I have nothing to swap! Fuck!" I looked around frantically but–" my sword, mch. No choice, I'm about to hit the ground."

Still, I'm too far back; I need to push myself forward and get into a better position.

Spinning around, I fill my chest with flames and exhale.

"Roar of the fire dragon!"

Using the force of my fire breath. I sent myself spinning just close enough. Then I held up my scabbard, pointing it towards Maya.

Yes, this is good.

With a single glance, I activated it.

And my first mission was complete.

"Yo," I said, holding Maya.

"Huh–what! You!" bewildered, she couldn't really make out to say. "How? You did it again."

I took a glimpse at everyone. Yuna and the others were shocked, especially her, but they followed the gaze of the man with death's mask as he peered up at me.

Everyone's gaze locked onto me. Oh boy, I'm in trouble.

"I did." No way I was going to sacrifice my sword for this, but we have bigger issues. "Maya, hold me tight."

"Whatt!"

We came crashing into one of the many bushes in the manor, thank god. Now we run, to where I have no idea.

*****

"Fuck you're heavy."

Oops, said that out loud.

"Shut up! Is this the time for that?"

I mean, I do have to carry you, so of course, weight matters. But she is right. Right now, any one of these guys could kill me. I need to escape, or at least hand her over to Yuna. I think she is a good guy, at least.

But looking back, the white clads were the first to give chase. They're too in sync.

They will catch me in no time. I need to go faster.

As I thought that, though, I heard the sound of a sword cleaving through the hair. Hot in their pursuit and mine is the silver-haired guy. Cutting everything in his path.

"Siri! Watch out, he is coming!" someone screamed.

Who is coming?

I can't wait for him; I need to keep running, before they get too close.

"Look out!" Maya screamed, grabbing my shirt. Instinctively, I dodged to the right, and a barrage of daggers missed me by inches.

Seeing those daggers, my blood ran cold.

I glanced backwards, and the sight made my heart drop.

My face began to twitch, and my feet began to stumble.

"W-when did they get this…no, when did he get this close?"

The man wearing death's mask was close. Too close.

When did they catch up? What happened to the silver-haired guy?

Maya begged, "Stop, please, you're slowing down—"

But I began to tumble and fell over. She shivered, hiding her face in my chest as she lay on me.

In front of me, all I can see is white.

What was I thinking? Why did I think I could do something? I'm going to die.

The man with the death mask leaped up towards me, brandishing his sword; he was ready to take my life.

However, he was struck mid-air. By a large, long, overwhelming force that came in the blink of an eye.

It made a crunching sound as it hit him, and he was sent straight down to the ground.

Maya and I, confused, looked at his body. It was dishevelled, his spine had snapped in two. His arms and legs were bent in opposite directions.

A black-and-white spike jutted clean through his skull.

Those spikes, they're…

Looking in front of me. I could see everyone. White clads, the silver-haired guy, Yuna and Remen. Everyone stopped and stared at something behind me.

For the first time, they were all struck with fear.

Maya as well began to quiver as she peered up at something behind us.

Its shadow is casting over us like a cloud blocking the moonlight.

Now, I'm certain.

"Thank you, Bella," I couldn't help but smile. She came for me.

Bella, growling with a fury I have never heard, stood over me. I can only imagine the menacing look on her face.
