Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Breakthrough

There was a quite similar, yet different scene.

Of a large grey cloud being created, enveloping three hundred or so of pinkish clouds.

However, there was one crucial difference from before.

Inside the cloud there was also a viscous liquid, like the yolk of an egg or the cerebrospinal fluid.

Or even the cytoplasm of a cell.

And which purpose it carried?

Well.

The thousands of clouds imploded as Green Immortal Essence was poured into them, and immediately there was a change.

However, unlike the previous times, there was no longer any chaotic movements of the wills inside the mantle.

Rather they moved softly, as if they were being carried by soft tides of water.

That moved them in circular patterns.

That prevented most of those thoughts from getting even near to the edge of the mantle.

And even in the cases it did not.

They 'bounced' quietly, with very little force due to the redistribution of force due to the water.

With this, not even the fragile thoughts were harmed.

Kao Dao Ji observed the results with fascination and joy in his face.

"The supreme good is like water.

It benefits all, without conflict."

As he muttered those words, he felt a barrier inside his mind shattering.

A feeling of euphoria reached the depths of his heart and soul.

Immediately he understood what he had to do.

Staring at the move he now called 'Cytocloud', he raised his right hand.

Suddenly, the myriad of thoughts which were scattered across the cloud condensed, into countless of tiny drops, which then were shoot like a hundred of projectiles, spreading everywhere.

And that was not all.

As those projectiles left the cloud, Kao Dao Ji felt an strange sense of control, of dominance, that even now he could control even the slightest move of the rain.

Moving his hands, he made the drops turn left and then right, and then up, and then down.

Like a thousand of birds, the drops of water flew with tremendous elegance and beauty.

Of course, this could not last forever.

Soon enough, the primeval essence he had injected into them finally dissipated, and he lost control over those water drops.

Still, that did not diminish his joy in the slightest.

At the contrary, he was elated.

He laughed in absolute joy.

"A Master! I have become a Master in water Path!"

As those words were spoken, several tears appeared in his face.

After all, while he was already a Master in Cloud and Lighting Path, neither of those gains felt like his own.

He merely stole the hard work of others.

Now, he could truly proclaim that he had developed on his own.

There was also his expectation, expectation that he could continue to grow, develop, that he would not stagnate and remain trapped in his aperture for the rest of his life.

Sometime later.

He had calmed himself down, though there was still a big grin in his face, he now was able to think clearly.

In that state he muttered.

"The depths of mastery truly are varied…" He sighed.

While it was common sense that reaching the level of a Master in a Path gave the Gu Master, an intuitive understanding of it, akin to an art.

The way this revealed itself varied.

For example, once he became a Cloud Path Master, he gained the ability of creating 'Clouds' that could linger for hours or days, before dissipating.

That mastery was the foundation of the Killer Move he was currently developing.

There was also the one he gained in Lighting, which he could express as 'control.'

Lighting by its very nature was, unpredictable, chaotic, unbelievably fast, and wild.

But once he became a master, he felt that controlling its direction, its turn, to predict where it would go next, became easy all of a sudden.

As for the power he gained once he became a Master of water?

Well.

It could be explained as 'assimilation', as well as the way it happened.

Basically.

There were two ways water could mix itself with another object.

In an heterogonic way, in which the two materials did not mix properly like oil or water, or in an homogenous way, in which the two mixed like water and salt.

His master attainment enabled him to somewhat 'control' this process, if he so willed it, he could make oil mix inside water as if it were salt, or he could mix salt as if it was oil inside the water.

Of course, this power was not absolute.

Still there was plenty he could do.

For starters, the power he used to 'absorb' those thoughts into the drops of water was one of them.

While that may not seem very powerful there were several applications of this, for example, let us imagine there was poison inside his bloodstream.

With his current mastery in water, he could force the poison and water in his blood to mix like water and oil, separating the two.

If he Cultivated Poison he could do the opposite, and force the bloodstream of his adversaries to 'absorb' the poison at shocking speed.

With those new insights, Kao Dao Ji spent the following two hours improving his Cytocloud Killer Move, as well as the second one in which he condensed the drops of water, which he now named 'Rain of Ideas.'

His excitement was palpable, just one more step and he could successfully create a Killer Move to sell in Treasure Yellow Heaven.

However, whilst he was in the midst of excitement.

Observing from the distance, there was a woman.

Bai Lin Hua.

Her long purple hair stood out among the white clouds, moving freely with the wind.

Her eyes carried a sense of cunning and greed whilst she stared at the place, she knew was the aperture.

But before she got close.

'Cold Soul Inspection'

A derivative of the common Soul Inspection Killer Move, which used her Cold Soul Gu as the very core.

Through this Gu she was able to 'gauge' the souls of anything ahead of her.

Immediately her lips curled up in an smile.

"Good, there does not seem to be anyone else in his aperture." She muttered.

During the past few weeks, since she had heard those news, she had grown enthusiastic, but also wary of this 'opportunity.'

After all, everything seemed to easy, too convenient for her.

That is why she spent the following weeks investigating the 'source' of the information, guaranteeing its veracity.

Once there, she slowly tracked the approximate location of the aperture.

Whilst covering her tracks and appearance.

By using several Transformation Gu, she changed her appearance, and added two beautiful wings behind her back, then she also participated in several trades with several Immortals, and even allied with them for resources.

In missions which 'coincidentally' went near this location.

During this critical period, she also accrued considerable amounts of Immortal Essence, and finally, she created this Immortal Killer Move.

If there was somebody else in his aperture, she would know, after all the Rank of her Killer Move was 6, and it belonged to an unknown pathway.

The odds of anybody being able to overcome the two were pretty low.

Of course, they were not zero.

But then again, to be a demon is to take a risk, if she dares not do something as simple as this, she would have never trained Soul Path in her lifetime.

Narrowing her eyes, she finally took a long breath, and began to fly towards his location in a straight pattern.

Yes, that was right.

She was not trying to hide her tracks, at the contrary she voluntarily exposed herself.

Not only that but she directly used a Rank 4 Gu to communicate directly!

Kao Dao Ji opened his eyes widely, as a voice transmitted inside his head.

"Kao Dao Ji, there is a huge crisis! There is a demonic Cultivator lurking nearby, assaulting Blessed Lands and destroying them.

The Clan sent me to protect you." The voice rapidly urged.

Kao Dao Ji frowned.

Through the usage of the water mirror, he was able to take a 'peek' at the world outside immediately, he stared at the unknown Featherman.

"You…I have never seen you before…" He said.

"I am a new Immortal of the Clan so is normal you don't know." Bai Lin Hua rapidly replied.

While inwardly she thought.

"That is bad…Hopefully even if he's suspicious, he does not block me the access.

Of course, even if he does, I can still force my way in, but I'd prefer not to damage his blessed land."

Kao Dao Ji squinted his eyes inwardly.

Still, he replied.

"Okay, sorry for suspecting you. But now what do you want me to do?"

Bai Lin Hua smirked with joy in her heart.

"Open the aperture, I will go there to protect you!"

Inwardly she thought.

"Land Spirits are truly easy to fool!"

Kao Dao Ji chuckled inwardly.

But still nodded outwardly.

"Alright! Just wait a second…" Inwardly, he closed his eyes, and concentrated his thoughts.

Slowly, he opened the entrance of his Immortal aperture.

The process extended for half a minute.

"Hey, are you still not done? Hurry up!" She said.

"Sorry, this is the first time I do this in a while, so is only natural I am a bit clumsy, heh." Kao Dao Ji said awkwardly.

"Something's off…" Bai Lin Hua thought to herself, still she did not stop to retreat.

Instead, she waited patiently, for she was certain of her own strength.

Soon, the aperture opened itself completely.

As this happened, the two stared at each other, Kao Dao Ji looked extremely alarmed, his eyes fixed in her.

Bai Lin Hua chuckled inwardly, at that sight.

Truth be told, she was aware of this possibility, in fact, she knew that there was a high probability that her clumsy scheme would be uncovered, even by a mere Land Spirit.

But that was only the surface scheme.

Instead, her greatest reassurance the scheme she truly aimed for, was one she had used countless of times.

To raise the alertness of the enemy to the limit, for she knew that in that mental state the last thing they would do, would be to look away!

Bai Lin Hua's eyes shone like a pair of twin stars; the intensity of her sight was simply out of this world.

Kao Dao Ji froze in the spot.

Simultaneously she also shoot several ice stakes towards several spots of his body.

While this occurred, Bai Lin Hua looked at her surroundings, and realized that around her there were dozen or so of strange clouds surrounding her from every angle.

She chuckled inwardly.

"Tsk. Tsk. This Land Spirit is quite clever to try and ambush me, yet what is the use of that?"

Despite the approaching clouds, she did not looked scared at the contrary her battle intent surged.

She clapped her hands together.

A huge smoke appeared around her, and then in the next instant.

A massive bear was summoned!
