The training session with Alaric ended, and I stormed out feeling like absolute garbage.
My inability to shift in front of Killian gnawed at me like a persistent itch I couldn't scratch. That arrogant bastard would probably use this against me somehow. But Nyx was seething even more than I was.
This makes no sense, she snarled in my mind, prowling restlessly. He's not our mate anymore. Why does he still affect us like this?
Your guess is as good as mine, I shot back irritably. I glanced down at my trembling hand and concentrated on the sensation of earth beneath wolf paws. Instantly, my hand transformed into a paw, dark fur rippling up to my elbow.
I clenched my fingers, and the human hand returned.
