She didn't answer, her mouth was shut as beads of sweat rolled down her body.
"I'm not going to be merciful with you, it doesn't matter if you are a minion, a slave, whatnot," Klaus's pressure increased on her throat. She gulped, and he stared deeper into her blue eyes, like the sun gazing upon the ocean.
"What do you think?" She looked up towards Jen, who still floated there with a spear, her hands extended.
"I say we fry her brain!" She chuckled like an evil maniac, and the spear started spinning, slowly descending towards the girl's head.
"See, my familiar here doesn't know mercy either," Klaus bluffed, making shit up on the spot. It seemed to be working as the girl was shaking in her boots.
"So—"
"Yes! He sent me! Please don't hurt me!" She screamed out so loud that the entire dorm probably heard. Tears started streaming down her face like a waterfall. "Her father is powerful…he threatened me with hurting my family…" She cried, sobs filling the room as Klaus's hands were covered in her tears.
'Don't dissolve the flames yet,' Jen nodded at Klaus's thought and kept the spinning flame there.
However, Klaus let go of her neck now. "Damn," she was instantly grasping for air and taking deep breaths whilst her tears kept rolling.
"Alright, Jen, you can kill her," Klaus smiled like a demon as he sat down on his bed, crossing his legs.
'Don't actually do it,' Jen nodded and kept the spear descending towards her.
"I told you! I told you everything! Why are you doing this?!" Her knees gave out, and she fell to the ground like a doll.
"I-Ice wall!" She tried using a spell, mana leaking out of her hand as an ice wall was conjured, however, it instantly melted.
'So she is an ice mage, hm,' Klaus rubbed his head and stood up.
"What can you do for me—"
"Anything! I'll do anything!" Jen instantly stopped as soon as she heard the girl's words.
"What's your name?" Klaus walked towards the trembling girl leisurely, his arms in his pockets.
"Nyra Crowe," her blue eyes were already red from the crying, tears covering her face as she just kept sobbing.
"Nyra," Klaus stood in front of her, "Let's say we form a team, what do you say?" He smiled as the spear above him kept spinning, reminding Nyra that she couldn't exactly reject the offer.
"Yes! I'll do anything!" She wiped the tears from her face and sat on her knees looking up at Klaus.
He grabbed her arm and pulled her up.
"If you betray us, you will die," Jen said with the coldest smile ever, which made Nyra tremble involuntarily like a leaf in a tornado.
"That's right, you will burn to death," Klaus also agreed with Jen, both of them smiling at Nyra like devils as she kept shaking and contemplating her life choices.
"What about my family though…" Her question did make sense, yet Klaus didn't really have an exact solution.
"We'll figure something out together," His words were not really reassuring, however, it was something.
"Something…" Tears started welling up in her eyes again.
He sighed, then clutched her shoulder, and their eyes met instantly.
'What would people do…' He thought back to the novels back on Earth and did what every protagonist would do, then never fulfil.
"I swear on my name as Klaus Von Alderstein," He puffed his chest out proudly, and Nyra's eyes instantly widened even more.
"A-Alderstein…" the hair on her body stood up at the name, she nodded and smiled at Klaus despite her tears.
Klaus turned to Jen, then let go of Nyra and walked towards the door. "Let's get Evaline," As soon as he said that, the flaming spear dissolved instantly, and the temperature returned to normal.
Nyra gulped and followed after the two.
Outside the room, the door in front of Klaus's seemed to be open, and Rowan was peeping through it in a thin line.
"Don't worry, we just had an argument," Klaus instantly said to Rowan, who didn't know he was noticed, and without saying anything, he slammed his door.
"If anyone asks why you visited, then say we are in a relationship," Klaus's words made Nyra blush instantly, and Jen chuckled.
Her face was as red as a tomato as she nodded, and they walked out of the dorm, going inside the female dormitory. Before they went inside, though, Klaus didn't want Jen to be discovered by everyone.
'Hide in my pocket,' Jen obeyed instantly as soon as she read his thoughts and flew inside.
Once they got inside, an old lady receptionist sat behind a desk with a bright smile. The lobby was the same as the male one, nothing different.
"Excuse me, we are here to see Lady Evaline," Klaus spoke up first. However, the old lady looked at him weirdly.
"Purpose?" Her voice was rigid and disrespectful, but Klaus didn't care at all.
"Matilda…he is a friend," a voice Klaus recognised came from the hallway. Soon, a short girl appeared, already familiar to him.
"Evaline, we need to talk." Klaus smiled, however, he kept side-eyeing the standing Nyra next to him like she was a threat.
"Let's go to my room," she did a turn and walked back down the hallway.
Klaus smiled at Matilda, the receptionist, and followed after her, pulling Nyra with him.
As soon as they got inside, Jen flew out of his pocket and sat on his shoulder.
"Cassian sent someone to my room already," Klaus sighed as Evaline sat on a chair. Her room actually seemed better than his.
It was more…welcoming?
"I see, that was quick," she sighed as her eyes analysed Nyra.
"Weird of him to send an ice mage though," her eyes kept flicking up and down as Nyra stood still, shaking in her boots.
"You know her?" As soon as he heard Klaus's question, she nodded.
"Her father is one of the Black Knights of our family, a warrior among the guards of my father," everything clicked to Klaus as soon as Evaline revealed that.
'So that's why Cassian can threaten her family,' he facepalmed and sat in her bed, contemplating what to do. Then he concluded.
"Let's do this."
