"Her recovery. It's... unusual. The toxicologist confirmed that Vermillion Ruin should have killed her within minutes. But she survived. Twice now."
I knew where this was going.
"You think she's involved."
"I think we need to consider all possibilities." Ronan held up his hands.
"I'm not accusing her, Damon. But Lyra has a point—the timing is suspicious."
"Lyra has an agenda," I said coldly.
"She wants Selene gone."
"Can you blame her?" Ronan asked quietly.
"She's been your partner for years. She thought she'd be Luna. And now you've found your actual mate, and it's someone from the pack we've been at war with for decades."
"I didn't choose this, Ronan."
"I know. But that doesn't make it less complicated." He sighed.
"Look, all I'm saying is be careful. The mate bond is powerful, but it can also blind you to things you'd normally see."
