I left Kyran's room feeling like my entire world had been turned upside down. Everything I thought I knew was wrong. Everything I believed was being challenged.
I walked down the hallway, trying to process everything. My mind was racing, and I could not slow it down. Rex was possessed. There was a spirit inside him trying to make him hurt me. The mating rites were going to be some trap.
"This is insane," I muttered to myself.
But was it really? Was it more insane than everything else that had been happening? The black veins on Rex's arms. The way my tattoo burned constantly, the way Freda kept seeing and hearing things. Maybe all of it was connected; there really was something evil at work.
I turned the corner and saw Rex's door. Without thinking, I walked toward it. I needed to see him. Needed to look him in the eyes and see if I could tell if something was really wrong with him.
