Selene's POV
I woke up to white ceiling,walls and white sheets pulled up to my chin.
A steady beep-beep-beep was resounding from somewhere beside my head. The smell of antiseptic was so strong it coated the back of my throat.
My body felt heavy like someone had poured concrete into my limbs. An IV line tugged at the inside of my elbow when I tried to lift my hand but I lifted it anyway.
My palm settled on my stomach and unlike before I felt nothing,not even a flutter or a faint heartbeat.
A nurse appeared at the foot of the bed. She was middle-aged with kind eyes.
"Easy, Ms. Hayes,try not to move too much. How are you doing?"
I ignored her and kept my hand where it was.
"I can't feel anything again?"
The nurse's face softened"The doctor will be in soon to explain. Just rest."
"I want an explanation."
She touched the railing of the bed. "I know, honey,I know but just relax for now."
I turned my head away and tears slipped sideways into my hair.
