Selene's POV
The video posted faster than I expected.
One click on "Share" and it was out there, flunged into the void of the internet.
I set the phone down on the nightstand and stared at it like it was a live grenade. Carlos had out for a walk so I sat there alone wondering if I'd made a mistake by posting that video.
My phone buzzed once, twice, then it didn't stop. Notifications stacked up like bricks in a wall closing in: Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and even old Facebook alerts I hadn't checked in years. Rita's name flashed first — a string of texts and missed calls.
I felt guilty that I hadn't replied to her earlier messages but I wasn't in the right mental state to do so.
I clicked on her messages,
Rita: "Babe, you posted? OMG I'm watching now."
Rita: "Holy shit, Selene. I'm proud of you."
Rita: "Comments are exploding. They're loving it. They're bashing Alejandro HARD."
Rita: "Please call me soon, let's talk. I love you.
I opened Instagram.
