Chapter 7 - Chapter 7:- The CEO's Little Fox

The air inside Feng Group headquarters was thick enough to choke a normal human, but for the Iceberg CEO, it was just another Tuesday.

Feng Yuan sat behind his expansive desk, his eyes fixed on the monitor, yet his left hand was busy. Long, elegant fingers were buried in moon-silver fur, stroking Nan Si, who lay draped across his lap like a royal scarf.

The atmosphere around him was cold and efficient.

The atmosphere on his lap, however, was warm and dangerously soft.

Inside Nan Si's consciousness, the Chaos Lotus energy hummed peacefully, circulating through her meridians like a gentle tide.

The System energy, however, was in complete chaos.

[OH! MY! DAO! NO HE DIDN'T!] Baby shrieked, making Nan Si's ears twitch so hard she nearly slid off Feng Yuan's knee.

Baby! Stop it! Nan Si complained internally, blinking in confusion. Are we under attack? Is dark power here?

[Worse!] Baby sobbed, producing a digital sniffle.

[The second male lead stood in the rain for ten hours with an umbrella, and the female lead still got into the villain's car! This drama is destroying my circuits! Emotional trauma detected! Ten out of ten angst!]

Nan Si sighed. You're a high-level celestial system. Why are you addicted to human soap operas?

[I'm gathering cultural data!] Baby protested, its glowing orb wearing a tiny digital headband.

[Besides, studying dramas helps me predict your Jue Jue. According to the 'Possessive CEO' trope, he's only five percent away from locking you in a golden cage. Statistics don't lie, Host.]

Nan Si's tail stiffened slightly.

She glanced up at Feng Yuan's calm profile and felt a strange mix of warmth and unease.

Across town, in a high-end salon filled with the scent of expensive dye and perfume, Lin Xiaoxi sat with foils in her hair, jealousy twisting her delicate features.

On her phone was a blurry gala photo of Feng Yuan gazing at the silver fox with tenderness he had never shown a human.

The more she stared, the tighter her fingers curled around the phone.

At the gala, she had stood three meters away from him in a gown worth millions, waiting for a single glance. But Feng Yuan hadn't even noticed her existence. His eyes had followed only the fox — the way his expression softened, the way his fingers brushed its fur as if touching a priceless treasure.

That look had once belonged to her.

At least, she had believed it did.

Years ago, when the Lin and Feng families discussed cooperation, rumors of engagement spread quietly through the upper circle. Lin Xiaoxi had imagined herself standing beside him as Madam Feng's future daughter-in-law, entering boardrooms like a queen.

Instead, she had been replaced by a creature that couldn't even speak.

"A pet?" she hissed. "He treats an animal like a queen. It's an insult to me. An insult to the Lin family."

Jealousy burned like acid in her chest.

"If I can't stand beside you," she whispered, nails digging into her palm, "then no one — and no fox — will."

She dialed a burner phone.

"The Animal Welfare report is ready. I've contacted the Exotic Species Research Bureau. Tell them the Chairman of the Feng Group is harboring a mutated, dangerous creature. When they raid his villa, I want that thing seized and locked in a lab."

A twisted smile curled her lips.

Lin Xiaoxi didn't realize she wasn't provoking a businessman, She was tearing at a soul-bond.

That evening, warmth filled the Feng Villa.

Golden lights reflected on marble floors. Soft music flowed through the halls.

Feng Yuan had discarded his jacket and sat barefoot on the carpet, hand-feeding Nan Si slices of dragon fruit.

"Sweet?" he murmured, brushing his nose against hers.

Nan Si's tail wagged in cheerful arcs.

Then—

Bang!

The front doors flew open.

"FENG YUAN! You unfilial son!"

Madam Feng stormed in like a queen descending from a palace drama. Silk, emeralds, authority — all wrapped into one domineering presence.

Her eyes locked onto Nan Si.

"Oh heavens… she's real!"

Feng Yuan's tenderness vanished instantly. He pulled Nan Si into his arms, his aura turning sharp and cold.

[Alert!] Baby whispered.

[Darkening Value rising. Host, he considers his own mother competition.]

"Mother," Feng Yuan said coolly, "why are you here?"

Madam Feng ignored him and knelt in front of Nan Si. "Look at her violet eyes! Look at that fur! Yuan-er, give her to me! I'm going to the Maldives and need someone to match my silver bikini!"

Nan Si blinked.

Water again?

Feng Yuan stepped back, shielding her. "She stays with me."

"Don't hog her!" Madam Feng huffed. "You're at work all day. I'll take her to Mahjong club, buy her a throne, hire a chef just for her!"

Nan Si sensed the tension and decided to intervene.

She hopped down, spun in a tiny dance, and chirped sweetly.

"Oh! She loves me!" Madam Feng squealed.

When Madam Feng reached down, Nan Si "accidentally" tripped over the luxury handbag. It burst open — cards, lipsticks, and diamonds scattered everywhere.

Nan Si froze, tail tucked, eyes watery.

"Oh you angel!" Madam Feng cooed. "She has a soul!"

Feng Yuan's aura darkened.

He lifted Nan Si gently by the scruff and pressed her into the hollow of his neck.

"Enough."

The single word silenced the room.

"She sleeps in my bed. Eats from my plate. She is the only thing in this world I will not share."

Madam Feng finally backed down with a dramatic sigh. "Fine. But tomorrow I bring a pet-couture tailor!"

Later, Feng Yuan carried Nan Si upstairs without letting her paws touch the floor.

He sat on the bed in the dim light, holding her tightly, heartbeat frantic beneath his ribs.

Before Nan Si appeared, Feng Yuan's world had been silent.

Too silent.

Cold meetings. Endless contracts. Empty rooms that echoed with nothing but his own breathing. Even sleep never stayed. His mind always circled battles, betrayals, and a loneliness he refused to acknowledge.

Then she arrived.

A warm weight on his chest.

A heartbeat answering his own.

A presence that made the mansion feel alive.

The thought of losing that warmth made something ancient stir inside his bones.

It wasn't logic.

It wasn't affection.

It was instinct.

If the world wanted to take her, then the world would have to break first.

His arms tightened unconsciously.

"You're not going anywhere," he whispered hoarsely. "Not with her. Not with the Lins. Not with the world."

Outside the villa, rain began to fall.

Across the street, a black car idled with its headlights off. Inside, a uniformed man checked his tablet, the glowing words reflected in his eyes.

Target confirmed: Exotic organism. Location: Feng Villa.

His finger hovered over the send button.

[Ding. Darkening Value: 88.] Baby muttered quietly.

[Host… full Male Lead mode activated.]

Nan Si nuzzled into Feng Yuan's neck, warmth blooming in her chest.

To her, his darkness wasn't a cage.

It was home.
