The private wing of the Feng Medical Center was silent, aside from the rhythmic hum of a heart monitor.
Feng Yuan sat by the bed, his clothes still damp and smelling of salt. He didn't care. His eyes were fixed on the small silver bundle curled beneath the sterile white sheets.
Nan Si was a fox again, but her breathing was shallow. Her fur lacked its usual luster, and her spiritual energy felt like a dying ember.
Meanwhile, Baby looked at them from space as he finished reading the whole plot he had received from the world consciousness.
In the ward, Feng Yuan reached out, his thumb tracing the soft fur behind her ears.
His mind kept replaying that fraction of a second in the water—the weight of a girl in his arms, the moonlight catching on silver hair, and the look filled with love in her jade-colored eyes.
"Who are you, Sisi?" he murmured, his voice raspy.
The door opened softly. Madam Feng stepped in, her face weary but triumphant. She handed him a tablet.
"It's done," she said. "The Lin Group filed for bankruptcy an hour ago. Every creditor we own has called in their debts. Lin Xiaoxi is in Bureau custody—they've moved her to a high-security facility for 'attempted biological assassination.' She won't be coming out."
Feng Yuan didn't look up.
"And the mother?"
"Madam Lin is currently being detained for questioning regarding the forged registration documents. Her 'social circle' has vanished. They are pariahs, Yuan."
Feng Yuan's gaze finally shifted to his mother, his eyes glacial.
"Make sure they lose the house. I want them to feel the cold of the streets they tried to throw her into."
"Already handled," Su Rou replied, then paused, looking at the fox. "Yuan… about Ah Si, what did the doctor say?"
Feng Yuan finally looked up, his eyes bloodshot, his face cold as the doctor's words echoed in his mind.
"Mr. Feng, we have tried our best, but we still don't know the real situation. Her body is repairing itself very fast, as if some force is helping her, but her vitality is a little weak," the doctor had said, feeling the room temperature drop so sharply that his knees weakened.
"But don't worry. From what we see, she's recovering rapidly. Within two days, she should regain consciousness," another doctor quickly added, sensing the tense atmosphere.
Snapping out of his thoughts, Feng Yuan replied,
"It's good. She should wake up within two days."
His voice dropped an octave.
"And she is the only thing that matters. If anyone—including the Bureau or our own family—tries to investigate her further, they will answer to me personally."
Su Rou sighed, a small smile appearing.
"It's good… Your dad has already covered the news, and he's maintaining the company now, so you can rest without worry."
"Hm… thank you, Mom," Feng Yuan replied awkwardly as he refocused his attention on Nan Si.
Seeing this, his mother let out a small laugh.
"You should change your clothes and eat something. Otherwise, if you fall sick, who will take care of your Ah Si?"
"I will go…" Feng Yuan said, thinking of the scenario where someone else might take care of his Sisi. His chest tightened.
[Ding… Darkness Value: 97%
Danger Mode: Red Alert]
Seeing the Darkness Value rising, Baby panicked. He spun three times in the air and shouted even though Nan Si couldn't hear him.
[Host, wake up quickly! Otherwise, the Supreme God will definitely destroy this small world!]
After showering, Feng Yuan sat again in the chair beside Nan Si's bed and silently guarded her.
Seeing this, Madam Feng sighed and left with the staff, instructing them to place lunch on the nearby table.
As she left, the monitor released a long, steady beep.
Nan Si's small paw twitched.
Feng Yuan leaned in, his heart hammering against his ribs. He didn't know if she was a spirit, a mutant, or a miracle.
He only knew that when she had looked at him in that light, he hadn't seen a monster.
He had seen his soul's reflection.
"Wake up," he whispered, pressing his forehead against hers. "Wake up, and I'll give you the world."
Inside her consciousness, Nan Si heard him.
Baby laughed and sobbed at the same time.
[You finally woke up! You know how worried I was… but thank God the fragment repaired your soul energy. Otherwise, you'd have been in a coma for at least seven or eight months.]
Nan Si looked around the space.
[Jue Jue helped me, but why can't I go back to my body?]
[Host, your body is still repairing, but don't worry. You'll return any moment now,] Baby chirped, spinning around her and glowing like a colorful rainbow.
Nan Si wanted to laugh at Baby's rainbow-like appearance, but the pull of deep sleep dragged her down again.
In the ward, Feng Yuan called the doctors as soon as he saw Nan Si's paw twitch.
After checking her condition, they said,
"Mr. Feng, we think Ms. Ah Si should wake up by tomorrow morning."
Hearing this, Feng Yuan's heart leaped with joy. Even his usually expressionless face held a rare smile, making his handsome features so stunning that the nurses stared before hurriedly lowering their heads.
After the doctors left, Feng Yuan stroked Nan Si's fur, which had regained its luster.
"Sisi, wake up. This time, I will protect you carefully, my love."
His nerves finally relaxed.
Drowsiness overtook him, and he fell asleep with his hand still resting on Nan Si.
In the middle of the night, Nan Si's ear twitched.
Her consciousness returned.
She slowly opened her eyes and saw Feng Yuan sleeping beside her. Looking at him, tenderness surged in her chest, and her eyes filled with heartache when she remembered how he had leaped into the sea for her.
'Baby, can I transform into a human now?' she asked softly while stirring her demonic power.
Before Baby could reply, light shimmered around her.
The fox disappeared.
A girl appeared on the bed.
Sensing the change, Feng Yuan startled awake.
"Sisi—"
His breath froze when he saw her.
"Sisi…"
He pulled her into his arms, his shoulders trembling.
"Ah Yuan, it's me. I'm sorry for worrying you," Nan Si said softly, stroking his head buried against her neck.
Before she could continue, she felt moisture soak into her shoulder.
"Ah Yuan… what happened? Why are you crying?"
But he didn't lift his head. He only hugged her tighter, repeating hoarsely,
"Sisi… Sisi… my Sisi."
"Yes… yes, I'm here," Nan Si soothed.
"Tell me… you won't leave me, right? You'll always be with me."
His voice trembled like a lost puppy waiting for its owner.
As he raised his head and gently brushed the corners of her eyes which were as dazzling as galaxy while lowering his own gaze to suppress the madness and obsession within them.
Hearing him, Nan Si felt her heart melt, as if she were tasting her favorite, sweetest marshmallow.
"No… Ah Yuan. I came for you. I'll never leave. I promise—if I, Nan Si, return to my world, may lightning—"
Before she finished, Feng Yuan sealed her lips with his.
Nan Si froze, eyes widening.
Warmth spread where he touched her.
Her lips were soft like rose petals, sweet like honey.
Feng Yuan's eyes darkened as he deepened the kiss, circling his arms around her waist and pulling her closer, his other hand threading into her hair to tilt her head slightly upward.
As his lips parted hers, his breath tangled with hers, exploring carefully, possessively, like a dragon inspecting its territory.
Nan Si nervously closed her eyes and clutched his shirt, wrinkling it as she shyly tried to respond.
Feeling her respond—innocent, curious, trying to understand the world like a innocent fox cautious but naive—Feng Yuan swallowed, his Adam's apple bobbing as restrained desire surged.
He pulled Nan Si onto his lap, pressing her close as his breathing deepened.
The world spun for Nan Si, and sitting there, she felt something firm beneath her, like a hard stick.
She patted his back curiously as she panted.
"Ah Yuan… what is that thing like a stick? Please remove it. It's poking my butt."
Her innocent words nearly shattered his remaining control.
Feng Yuan froze, breathing heavily.
Seeing her flushed face, glistening lips, and enchanting yet pure eyes, the last thread of restraint snapped.
He kissed her again, fiercely, like a beast devouring the prey he had long claimed.
After a long time, the storm softened into warmth.
Nan Si fell asleep in his arms while he was still kissing her.
Feng Yuan chuckled softly, full of doting affection, laid her back on the bed, and went to shower.
In space, Baby watched the values fluctuate.
[Ding… Affection Level:
90%… 92%… 95%… 98%]
[Ding… Darkness Value Reducing:
92%… 89%… 85%… 78%… 69%]
Trying to share the news with host, Baby happily turned but saw only a black screen, shrugged, and returned to watching dramas.
An hour later, Feng Yuan returned carrying a tub and towel.
Nan Si was sleeping peacefully, carefree.
Looking at her, his heart nearly melted as he lifted her gently, wiped her face and body, and dressed her in a nightgown.
After all this, the clock showed 2:30 a.m. as he climbed into bed and pulled her into his arms, kissed her forehead, and finally slept, holding her tightly as if afraid she might disappear again.
