Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The Betrayer

After spitting two blasts of Dragonfire, Drogon saw that Rhaegal and Viserion had already flown up behind him. He then flew across the courtyard toward the large number of Qartheen outside the gate, breathing Dragonfire as he went.

The people outside watched their companions turn into charred corpses amidst miserable wails. Most of them lost their will to fight; only the warriors at the rear of the group boldly threw spears at Drogon. In their panic, their aim was nonexistent, and Drogon easily dodged them.

Although the spears didn't cause any damage to Drogon, they sparked his fury. Having been reborn as a dragon, what he hated most were spears.

Abandoning the warriors below, Drogon flapped his wings and quickly glided over the warrior who had thrown the spear. He gifted him a massive blast of Dragonfire and only turned to attack the others after watching him wail in the flames.

The Dothraki inside the courtyard reacted quickly after witnessing Drogon burning the Qartheen. Once Rhaegal and Viserion had burned a few more people, they immediately rushed out of the courtyard to strike at the panicked Qartheen.

The fifty-odd Qartheen were soon completely wiped out, either burned or cut down.

The wails and flames attracted many Qartheen onlookers. Their eyes widened in terror and their mouths hung agape, having the fortune to witness the horrific sight of three dragons roasting living people.

Having burned dozens of people, Drogon's hidden ferocity was completely triggered. Looking at the surrounding Qartheen, he seemed to feel the despair and helplessness of being slighted and marginalized everywhere since Daenerys's arrival.

"Hiss!" An angry roar mixed with black smoke and sparks was directed at the spectating Qartheen.

"Hiss!"

"Hiss!"

Two more fierce roars followed. Seeing the three dragons' predatory eyes, the Qartheen no longer cared for the spectacle and fled in terror, fearing they would be mistaken for the invaders' accomplices.

Drogon looked down at the fleeing crowd, and after finding no suspicious individuals, he slowly landed on the ground.

The Dothraki, who had escaped the disaster, looked at Drogon and the other two dragons with eyes full of worship as they landed. Only then did they begin to pick up weapons and shields and drag away the charred corpses.

"Ah!" a woman's cry suddenly rang out. Drogon turned to look and saw Viserion stepping on a charred corpse, baring his teeth at the woman who was dragging it.

Flames rolled within his small throat, ready to be spat out at any moment. It was no wonder the Dothraki woman, who was by no means fragile, was terrified.

Seeing the woman retreat, Viserion snorted and lowered his head to poke at the charred corpse beneath his feet.

Seeing Viserion about to eat a human corpse made Drogon feel very uncomfortable. Viserion had almost breathed fire on the Dothraki woman, which reminded Drogon of the charred corpse of the three-year-old girl from the previous show.

Flying over to Viserion, Drogon extended a claw to pin down the one Viserion was using to rummage through the corpse, while simultaneously letting out a series of roars.

Rhaegal, who was about to follow Viserion's lead and eat a charred corpse, saw Viserion being stopped. Hearing the meaning in Drogon's roar, she also ceased the movement of her claws.

Unable to eat the fragrant and tender food right in front of him, Viserion irritably pulled back his claw and looked up to bare his teeth at Drogon in a show of defiance.

Seeing that the little brother he had taught a lesson to yesterday actually dared to bare his teeth at him again, Drogon—whose ferocity had not yet dissipated after killing dozens—pinned Viserion's small golden head onto the charred corpse with one claw.

Feeling aggrieved, Viserion stretched his neck, braced his wings against the ground, and clawed at the earth with both feet, trying to stand up. However, Drogon's strength was too great, and his neck was too long; he simply couldn't get up.

After struggling a few times without getting up and even aggravating yesterday's wounds, he finally remembered the painful experience of being beaten yesterday. He no longer had the strength to struggle and let out a mournful cry that was almost a plea for mercy.

That's more like it. Hearing Viserion back down, Drogon slowly released his claw. He then cast a deliberate glance at Rhaegal, who was making small movements nearby, scaring her into quickly withdrawing the claw she had placed on a charred corpse.

"Not stupid at all! You already know how to read the situation," Drogon was very satisfied with the performance of Rhaegal, this little female dragon.

Seeing that the two dragons were completely tamed, Drogon glanced at the crowd looking at him in surprise and found the little maid, Jeyne. He tilted his head at her, but the little maid just stared at him with her mouth open and confused almond eyes, not knowing what he meant.

Drogon was speechless. How could a human be less intelligent than a dragon? He had no choice but to turn and look at Rhaegal and the drooping-headed Viserion. Jeyne immediately understood Drogon's meaning—he wanted her to roast meat for Rhaegal and the others to eat.

Drogon could tame the two dragons, but he couldn't suppress their instinctive desires. Food still had to be given. As for that other desire... they were still small and didn't understand anything.

With the roasted meat, the two dragons immediately began to feast. Since they had just performed a service, Jeyne naturally wouldn't let them fight over the food.

In a short while, having eaten and drunk their fill, Rhaegal and Viserion lay on their backs like lords to bask in the sun. It was impossible to tell they were little dragons who had just been oppressed by Drogon.

Compared to their comfort, Doreah, who was tied to a pillar opposite them, was in a much more miserable state. Her hair was disheveled, and she was covered in bruises—nearly every Dothraki had struck her. She was waiting in despair for Daenerys's final judgment.

"Drogon! Rhaegal! Vi..." Daenerys called out the little dragons' names as she rushed frantically into the courtyard gate that had been burned down.

The three dragons, who were comfortably sunbathing, all looked toward Daenerys, whose face was covered in tears, when they heard her call.

"Are you... alright?" Daenerys saw the three dragons lying in the courtyard sunbathing in undignified poses before she could even finish calling Viserion's name.

Had the courtyard gate been burned down by their fighting? And had people been charred as well? While she was secretly wondering, Daenerys saw Doreah tied to the pillar.

"Jeyne, what happened?" She felt that things were not so simple.

"Khal Drogo, a group of people just broke in. If it weren't for Drogon and the others, we might have all been killed..." Jeyne recounted with lingering fear.

The more Daenerys heard, the more alarmed she became. She walked over, threw her arms around Drogon's neck, and gave his face, which was covered in fine scales, a hard kiss.

"Fortunately, I have you, Drogon."

The people she had left at the manor were simply unable to withstand fifty-odd Qartheen warriors. The end result would have been the people killed and the dragons stolen. She hadn't expected Drogon and the others to have become so powerful.

[Just a bunch of small fry.] Drogon didn't think much of it.

"Hiss..."

Seeing Daenerys kissing and hugging Drogon, Rhaegal nearby let out a cry of displeasure, and Viserion also tried his best to crowd in toward Daenerys.

[These two little dragons haven't learned much in the way of skills, but they've already learned how to vie for favor!] Drogon was also somewhat speechless toward them.

Hearing Drogon's internal complaints, Daenerys smiled faintly. She couldn't favor one over the other, so she hugged Rhaegal and Viserion and gave them each a kiss.

After soothing the two dragons' emotions, Daenerys's expression changed. She walked up to Doreah, the maid who had once taught her the pleasures of the bed, and raised her hands to slap her twice, left and right.

"You accompanied me from Pentos to the Dothraki Sea and through the Red Waste. Why would you betray me now?"
