Chapter 9 - Pressure

As the distance between the zombies and the survivors shortened, Arthur looked at those fighting besides him. A guy he hated due to past feuds and someone who never spoke to him when everything was normal.

They both noticed his gaze, Silas rolled his eyes and Peter smiled at him. " Can you make me long spike." The eerily cheerful boy said. 'This guy really bugs me out.'

A long concrete spikes rose and fell into Peter's hands. Looking back at the slowly disappearing group, Arthur took a step forward and then another. Soon he was sprinting towards the horde.

' Never thought I would be doing this but, here goes everything.' With huge leap, Arthur released the rain of concrete spikes on the zombies.

"Behold my magnificent power, now to my might." Silas yelled as he ran head first into the horde. 'As expected for someone with two brain cells.' Arthur scoffed.

While he was distracted a zombie pounced on him. He caught it by the neck, narrowly preventing it from bitting into his skin. ' Darn it, fool had to distract me with his yelling.'

Managing to push the zombie away, a long spike stabbed through it's temple. "I didn't need help." Arthur clarified tossing Peter's spike back to him. "I knock." The boy replied catching the spike.

At this point the effect of Arthur's concrete rain had worn off, surviving zombies rose and dead ones remained dead.

To prevent another sneak attack Arthur retrieved his spikes while using telekinetic construction to form an elevated platform of metal alloys and stones.

[ Fatigue : 50% ]

He climbed to the top of the ten meters long platform with a triad support system. Normally he could fly, but he didn't want to reveal all his trump cards just yet.

Still suspending his retrieved spikes he looked down at Peter and Silas. The former fought in a strangely refined way, he was extremely fast and agile, as if moving with the wind itself.

The latter fought brutally, ripping the heads off the zombies or smashing it to pulp with his fists. Silas fought a bit carelessly, as he knew the zombies weren't strong enough to bite through his armour.

'I would have to continue observing to know what their abilities are, till then, I will play nice.' Stretching his hands towards the zombies, he send down a second rain of concrete spikes.

He sat crossed legs on the platform, it was time to get to work. The time of environmental weaponization was over. He switched to weapon augmentation to control direction and intensity.

This was harder than it seemed as there were three dozen spikes, roughly thirty six spikes. Doing the calculation, Arthur had to split his mind into thirty six parts to focus on every spike.

That was technically impossible for newly awakened Arthur, so his attempt failed horribly and when he tried too much he felt his brain pump violently.

Everything went blurry as his brain slowed down.

The constructed platform crumbled and all the spikes fell to the ground. With a thunderous thud, Arthur fell into the debris he used in constructing the platform.

It took him a few moments to sit up in the rumble, his head quaking nonstop and his vision blurred. He heard shoutings but couldn't understand it, due to the vibrations in his ear.

" Arthur…, Arthur…, ARTHUR, ARTHUR!!! " Peter's voice resounded in his ear, bringing him back a bit. He turned his head to observe his surroundings and soon remembered where he was.

Rising groggily he lifted a finger and a single spike obeyed his call. ' Let's stick to one before I kill my self.' Although the horde was diminishing, it was still to much for them to contain.

The trio had to do something before they would be overwhelmed. Arthur skillfully reaped the lives of multiple zombies, earning him a level up before he realized their situation.

" Peter, Silas, fall back let me block them. We are at a disadvantage. Let's follow the original plan." He yelled, alerting the others. Through the chaos, Silas leaped to his side but Peter was nowhere to be found.

" Go we are right behind you." Arthur said lifting multiple slabs of concrete. Giving him a final look, Silas to off with huge leaps. ' Going in there to look for that guy could get me killed, also he would be dead already, so why worry.'

Just as Arthur was about to start building the blockade, a swift figure burst towards him, mowing down zombies instantly. " Thanks for waiting, I knew I could count on you." Peter said darting away.

' As if.' Arthur scoffed constructing a huge blockade with the concrete slabs. However that wasn't enough as the zombies were hitting heavily on it.

" This would be the second time I am doing something crazy." Stretching his reach towards the walls of the lesser valley, he struggled but eventually pulled them down.

These weren't only concrete slabs, but soil, trees, boulders and even small residental buildings. His mana pool was drained so he had to continue he journey with physical might alone.

Sitting down to briefly rest he called into his system status to see his current level.

Rising with new found strength, he felt alive once more as his fatigue was partial gone. ' Now I remember, killing those initial moles gave me three stat points. And I felt stamina was connected to fatigue.'

He got into a running stance but as he was about to sprint away, something slammed into his barrier. Some parts of debris were sent flying at his direction.

' What now? ' He thought but didn't wait for an answer. Moving with explosive speed he reached his bags and grabbed them without stopping or slowing down.

The wind howled passed his ears, the earth gave away to his feet and with a mighty leap, Arthur rose fifteen feet high. A little distance away, he saw the group struggling against some moles and a different kind of creature.

Silas had almost reached them and Peter was almost directly behind him. ' That guy is fast.' Falling back to the earth, a loud thud behind him make him increase his speed.

They were this close to the hall if they didn't reach it in time, they would all die. Within three minutes Arthur could see the backs of the anticipating students.

Whether their lives continued all mattered at this moment. Reaching the crowd of up to three hundred teens, Arthur tore through to the front where the main battle unfolded.

At the end of the great valley, Ethan, Peter, Silas and quite a lot of awakened students from all three schools present battled the monsters.

" Hold these for me." Arthur said handing his bag to a boy directly behind him, it was time to get his hands bloody.
