Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Far above the Earth, I lazily 'swam' around in my domain, lazily orbiting the planet below me while my senses focused downwards, keeping tabs on the two idiots that I always needed to manage lest they destroy everything.

From the very moment I realized that I had been born as Rayquaza, or his analong in this world that seemed to be straight out of the Monstervers, I had known that my life would not be an easy one.

Because if there is one thing I was sure about from the world of Pokémon, it was that Rayquaza never catches a break, especially with these two troublemakers.

And sure enough, when I first learned of the existence of Groudon and Kyogre in this world as well, albeit slightly different from their Pokémon counterparts, just like me, I knew exactly why I was born different from the rest of my species.

Somehow, someway, this world always finds a way to balance things. And I was supposed to be that balance between Groudon and Kyogre.

And speaking truthfully, I do enjoy my 'job'.

I mean, who wouldn't love being a living relativistic kinetic strike vehicle?

'The look of horror on that stupid whale was worth the effort.'

Remembering that idiot Kyogre's horrified gaze as I vaporized the sea around him with my kinetic strike, I could not help but snicker.

Compared to the headaches they used to give me in the old days when I first ascended to fill my role after growing up fully, this was nothing.

Maybe I am being petty, or maybe it is justified. I don't care for the justification. All I care about is that it was funny as hell.

Unfortunately, Groudon is a bit more cautious compared to his counterpart and rarely dares to test me, unlike Kyogre, who always awakens once every few centuries to see if I am still keeping tabs on him, which I always do.

However, he compensates for his caution with his recklessness when he does awaken.

The idiot plunged an entire landmass nearly a thousand kilometers in size into a magma zone the last time he awakened a few centuries ago.

I had to work overtime to create a localized storm cycle by reversing my ability to calm the air around me to cool down the area over several weeks, for god's sake!

That's why I pushed the idiot all the way down to the tectonic level beneath the proto-South America and forced him into hibernation.

That fool is a walking disaster on land, while Kyogre is a swimming calamity beneath the oceans.

Both of them are highly territorial with idiotic tendencies that I, unfortunately, have to cull all the time.

'Sometimes, I really hate my life here.'

My gaze turned outwards and caught the breathtaking sight of the cosmos beyond this world. The void beyond my world that I can briefly visit whenever I want, although I can only do so for an hour at most before I am forced back to Earth, since I can't truly live in vaccume.

Although I don't like leaving the planet's gravitational field. It becomes really difficult to maneuver and move around the further I am from the planet's magnetic field. If I go too far, the possibility is very real that I would just drift off into deep space since my locomotion is based fully on the Earth's magnetic field.

With a sigh, I continued gazing at the cosmic wonder before me and basking in the light and heat of the sun.

'Then again, I guess this sight is worth it.'

As I watched outer space, my vision caught sight of an enormous asteroid floating in from outer space.

My absurdly powerful and fast brain instinctively worked out the speed of the rock and the time it would take before impact.

'Hm. Somewhere in the range of an hour or so before it hits the Earth. Based on its size, I would say it can devastate a small continent. Definitely a disaster for the planet's lifeforms. Unacceptable.'

Back when I was a human, I never really cared about the life around me. Not because I was some idiot or conspiracy theorist, but because I was simply indifferent to it.

Growing up, I was desensitized to the wonder of life as I focused more on creating a successful career for myself.

However, all of that indifference came to an end when I lost everything, forcing me to start from scratch and become a teacher.

Teaching my students about the various subjects, I too started to appreciate the beauty and wonder of life.

In a way, losing that high-paying job at corporate and becoming a teacher opened my eyes to the world's beauty.

And now that I had the power to protect said life? There is no way I am letting anything happen to it. Either through natural calamities or through artificial means.

Not to mention that said rock appears to be rather rich in minerals from what I can sense, which means that it is a rare delicacy for me.

With a decision made, I took off towards the incoming asteroid, waiting for it to get close.

Once it was in range, I charged up my primary weapon.

Originally, Rayquaza was supposed to have Hyper Beam. However, given that I am now an analog of him in this world, I don't have Hyper Beam.

I have something that is arguably much better.

I took a deep breath as tiny, nanogram-sized crystalline particles made within my body, thanks to the asteroids that I eat, concentrated at the back of my throat.

Then, I felt my magnetic field concentrate and create a pseudo-railgun within my throat and jaw, propelling the 'macrons' at speeds far beyond anything humanly possible, even with advanced technology.

In essence, my 'Hyper Beam' is a Macron Canon. A constant stream of macrons literally sandblasting through my target at absurd speeds.

This is why I don't like to use my main offensive option against organic opponents. The aftermath is difficult to clean up most of the time, not to mention how agonizing the death of my targets is when faced with my Macron Canon.

If I am to kill something, I would rather end it as quickly as possible.

Focusing on the output of my canon, I made sure not to go all out while targeting the Asteroid since I don't want to destroy it. I just want to slow it down.

With careful, controlled bursts, I slowed it down enough to grab it with my hands safely, making sure that I don't end up getting dragged by it into the Earth's atmosphere by maximizing the output of my magnetic field, thereby increasing my flight power.

Literally feeling the mineral density of the asteroid, I could not help but grin.

'Time for some good food!'

In terms of taste, there is nothing I can compare it to from my human memories. The rock is crunchy, the ores within it are chewy, and all around a satisfying texture, like biting into a cookie.

It is a shame that asteroids this size are few and far between in the Earth's upper atmosphere. Most of the time, I only encounter micro meteorites or sometimes those that are probably in the ballpark of a car if I am lucky.

With the satisfying meal done, I returned to lazing around in my territory, bored out of my mind.

'Maybe I should take a page from the other Titans and take a break via hibernation? It's not like anything serious will happen while I am asleep, right?'

'I already warned those two idiots recently, so they won't dare try anything for the next few centuries at least. And even if they did, my instincts will immediately awaken me when they become active.'

'.....Hm. You know what? Let's do it. I want to see what the hype behind Hybernation is and why all those guys downstairs love to sleep for so long.'

With a decision made, I wasted no time and drifted back to sleep.

Hopefully, something interesting will happen by the time I awaken.
