Before Ren could reach for Kael, a massive shadow appeared below his feet.
Without stopping, Ren jumped ahead and rolled across the ground and immediately stood up the moment his body came to a halt.
'Wh-what?' Ren gulped. The horror standing before him couldn't even be described easily.
A monstrosity loomed before him. Its figure almost reaching the second floor of a nearby building. With a disfigured face, it carried a massive war hammer in its right hand. Its body was wrapped in a dark thin armor, sticking to it like a second skin.
With a snarl that showed its four long canines, it lunged at him.
Ren tried to jump away, but he had underestimated the speed of the creature before him just due to its sheer size.
The hammer slammed onto him, creating an impact so great that the house behind Ren crumbled instantly.
"Blegh..."
Blood dripped from his mouth as his head dropped.
His chest had caved inward, and Ren could've sworn that all his rib bones were broken the moment the hammer struck his body.
The creature walked upto him slowly, and lifted its hammer once more, ready to end him in a single strike.
Boom.
Ren's vermyrex slammed into it with such speed that even this monstrosity had to take a step back. It shook his head as it felt slightly disoriented.
But that was all.
"Im-impossible..." His voice cracked as he saw the creature kill the vermyrex in a single strike of his hammer.
It tilted its head and walked upto him.
A screen popped up in front of Ren, making his eyes widen in an instant.
"Sorry, looks like I have one more card." With a devilish grin on his face, Ren mentally activated his skill.

The creature halted at once. Its head snapped back instantly as it sensed something, but the scene unfolding before him made it confused.
Ren's vermyrex that had died in a single impact still lay on the ground. But with enough focus, one could see its body disintegrating into tiny ash particles, though only some of its body parts were transformed.
The ash was conjured at a single point and formed a small spherical ball in a split second. The speed was so great that the creature only dodged it at the split second because of its instinct.
But it wasn't aimed at him. The sphere of ash ripped through the air and embedded straight into Ren's chest.
Ren's pupils which were pure white turned grey in color and were almost indistinguishable from his sclera unless one looked closely enough.
The blood dripping from its mouth dried up in an instant.
The monstrosity's body tightened. It could feel all his senses screaming at him to either flee from whatever was in front of him or kill it before it could complete its transformation.
And as expected, the creature chose to attack.
Why? Because it had never once run away from a battle. Its pride as a monstrosity didn't allow him to show his back.
"GRRRAAAAAAH..."
It roared, and from its back, the same small vermyrexs that resembled a sugar glider burst forth. They detached from its back and flapped their wings, hovering beside it.
At once, the monster bolted forward. Hammer already held high in the air, aiming straight for Ren's head.
Ren's transformation sped up as if sensing the imminent threat. Almost simultaneously, two wings shot out from his back and wrapped around him in a cocoon.
BOOM.
The impact thundered.
The sound rang through the surroundings as the creature lifted back its hammer. The dust settled and showed the result of the strike.
Not a single scratch.
Pitch-black wings had blocked its strike effortlessly.
The transformation inside Ren's body continued, and two devilish horns erupted from his forehead as Ren screamed in pain while clutching his head.
His voice echoed in the small cocoon.
His hands transformed too, veins popping up his forearms as if they wanted to burst apart.
And they did.
Both of his forearms blew apart, blood splattering on his semi-conscious body. And from his elbows grew a set of blades. They were thin, charcoal-black, and streaked with his own blood.
His elbows acted as the hilt itself.
The massive creature didn't waste a second further. It immediately dashed in a different direction, because its senses didn't tell it to run, they told it to accept death.
The massive wings spread apart, revealing the anomaly within.
Its lips parted and a thin, condensed breath escaped from the mouth.
Slowly, the being stood up as if uncaring how far the monstrosity ran. It lifted its gaze upward, eyes locking to the monstrosity and the small vermyrexs flying together.
It bent down its body slightly, the muscles in its legs tightening to the maximum limit its body could endure and with a single flap of its wings, it bolted forward.
The speed was so fast that buildings blurred past.
Raising both its arms in a cross-shaped pattern, its wings flapped for the second time.
Its acceleration increased even more, its body tearing through the air and reaching the monstrosity in an instant.
Ren or what was left of him, flipped in the air, his wings coiling around his body and generating torque to increase his power even further.
All the small vermyrexs flying around it were instantly attracted to the spinning Ren. Their screams stopped abruptly as they were sliced apart by the wings lined with sharp and angular ridges.
And in the same moment, both blades fell on the monstrosity before it could even react. Multiple deep gashes appeared on its back, blood splattering on his wings as the creature stumbled forward.
And after a few steps, it fell to the ground.
