Zeke circled the ore processing plant in search of books. As vessels of knowledge, books were indeed a rarity on Mariatus.
Bloodhowl and his pups obviously weren't the type to enjoy reading, and the Adeptus Mechanicus used dataslates, having no need for paper books.
Fortunately, paper and leather weren't hard to find. Zeke used his Crafting Table to synthesize a sufficient number of bookshelves.
He arranged the bookshelves around the Enchanting Table; sixteen shelves were enough to raise the table to its maximum enchantment level.
Countless tiny, glowing runes flew from the books on the shelves, sinking into the open tome atop the Enchanting Table.
To be honest, the scene looked a bit ominous. Zeke glanced around.
Luckily, the location was secluded, and for the moment, no one noticed the anomaly here.
Since clearing the Chaos forces from two ore plants had accumulated a generous amount of experience & ores for him. He stood before the Enchanting Table and opened the interface. As usual, he could only see the first enchantment option clearly; the subsequent options were garbled code.
Placing Lapis Lazuli into the slot, Zeke began enchanting. After a few attempts, he managed to enchant his Netherite armor with a full set of Protection IV. (TL/N: Full Netherite armor with Protection IV offers the highest general protection in Minecraft, reducing damage by approximately 96% and providing superior durability and knockback resistance)
For his Netherite Pickaxe, he rolled Fortune II, Unbreaking III, and Efficiency III. It wasn't the absolute top tier, but it was sufficient for his needs. (TL/N: Fortune II increases ore yield (e.g., diamonds, coal) by an average of 75%)
He then used an Anvil to rename the pickaxe. He decided to call it "My God Pick."
Zeke took his newly enchanted gear and packed up the Enchanting Table.
The next step was to build an automated factory.
The first component was an automatic tree farm. The wood was secondary; the main objective was apples.
Zeke found that while he had enough gold, he was actually running short on apples.
After establishing the automatic tree farm, Zeke set up a supply line linking the apples with the gold mine, creating a Golden Apple synthesis factory.
According to the statistics from the Mechanicus Tech-Priest, the Golden Apple factory was now producing roughly ten thousand units per day. (TL/N: He is doing this with the help of the Mechanicus Tech-Priest's, since he can't do it alone this fast.)
Of course, these were standard Golden Apples, not Enchanted Golden Apples.
Once the Golden Apple factory was complete, the next project was the Potion Brewing factory.
Swiftness, Slowness, Strength, Poison, Regeneration, Fire Resistance, Night Vision, and Invisibility—these potions could be produced. However, since the raw materials required Zeke to personally kill mobs to obtain the drops, he couldn't mass-produce them in extreme quantities.
As for Leaping, Healing, and the Turtle Master potions, Zeke hadn't found the source materials yet, so they couldn't be brewed for now.
With the tunnel bore providing a sufficient supply of iron blocks, Zeke also established an automatic pumpkin patch.
By connecting these two supply lines, he created an Iron Golem factory capable of producing Iron Golems around the clock.
All of these things happened in just two days.
Everything went smoothly. Relying on the powerful infrastructure capabilities of Minecraft, Zeke had largely completed all the tasks he had set out to achieve upon arriving on this planet.
However, in the afternoon, during the half-day trial run of all the factories, Zeke received some bad news.
Since all items stored in chests could be displayed numerically, every single item Zeke produced had a precise quantity record.
A supervising Tech-Priest reported the discrepancy:
"The warehouse is missing one Golden Apple, one Enchanted Golden Apple, one bottle of every type of potion, and one Iron Golem."
The other items he could understand, but how on earth do you lose something as massive as an Iron Golem?
Zeke was shocked. He went to the Iron Golem factory, but there were no signs of battle.
The thief was either a friendly entity or possessed overwhelming power.
This feeling of turning around and finding his belongings missing... it felt incredibly familiar!
Zeke hadn't forgotten that when he first spawned into this world and saved Dance, he had lost a Torch and a block of Cobblestone.
Zeke wandered aimlessly through the Iron Golem factory, looking for clues.
When he reached the entrance, he noticed a black scarab on the wall.
The scarab just sat there, fluttering its wings as if afraid Zeke wouldn't notice it.
Seeing Zeke's gaze land on it, the creature shook its body and crawled out the door—moving very slowly, as if waiting for him.
Zeke already knew who the thief was, this type of scarab was a Necron Canoptek Spyder—a tomb maintenance construct.
Following the scarab, Zeke gradually moved away from Refinery No. 1 and arrived beside a hill outside.
Standing there was a tall, hunched skeleton frame, with a reactor in its chest emitting a green glow.
"Human, allow me to introduce myself. I am Trazyn the Infinite, Overlord of Solemnace, Archaeovist of the Prismatic Galleries, and—"
"I know," Zeke interrupted. "You're the thief who stole my stuff."
"How disappointing." The giant leaned on his glowing staff. "'Thief' is such an unfriendly name. I think 'Collector' sounds much better."
"Thief."
"Collector."
"Robber."
"..."
Zeke stared at Trazyn before him. He had long heard of the fame of this Necron Overlord.
According to the name displayed above the health bar, this was merely one of Trazyn's surrogate bodies.
"You lured me here," Zeke looked around. "What is your objective?"
"You humans," Trazyn shook his head, "are always so impatient."
"Regardless of your objective," Zeke extended his hand, "I think you should return the things you took from me."
"Things? What things?"
Trazyn flicked his skeletal hand and pointed at his own body.
There were gaps in his metal ribcage, clearly hiding nothing.
"Oh, you mean those little trinkets? I'm terribly sorry." He spread his empty hands, looking innocent. "I ate them."
A Necron needing to eat? Facing Zeke's skeptical gaze, Trazyn remained motionless and unbothered.
Zeke felt that this Necron actually had a sense of humor. At the very least, he didn't seem to harbor much malice toward him as a human.
"Fine, it seems you have a big problem with me." Trazyn opened his dimensional pocket and took out a Tesseract Labyrinth.
He activated the labyrinth and tossed it onto the ground. "It appears we need to be honest with each other."
Countless items appeared within the dimensional rift. Zeke saw a Torch, a block of Cobblestone...
As well as all his missing items: the Golden Apple, the Enchanted Golden Apple, the potions, and the Iron Golem—all displayed within.
It was all worth it. A thread of satisfaction flowed through Trazyn's mind.
A tiny sampling mission had yielded such fresh and interesting exhibit categories.
In his long life spanning millions of years, he had acquired countless collections.
Small things, like the perfect clone of Primarch Fulgrim; large things, like the Aeldari Craftworlds.
He had witnessed the rise and fall of the galaxy. Even the rarest treasures became somewhat tedious after staring at them for too long.
But now, Zeke—this human with no peculiar background—and the items he brought with him...
Trazyn had to admit, it stirred the desire to collect within his heart.
This would be unique.
Zeke looked at the final exhibit in the dimensional rift. It was a familiar figure, placed inside a stasis field.
"Cow!" Zeke couldn't believe his eyes. His face looked like an overturned paint box, turning red then white.
"You dared to catch my Cow!"
"Stop, stop, stop. You humans, always so impatient," Trazyn sensed something was wrong.
"Look closely. That is merely another one of your pet's species."
"I thought it might produce that miraculous substance like yours does," Trazyn shook his head as he spoke. "I even specially prepared the most prominent display cabinet for it."
Only then did Zeke realize that the two merely looked alike. Obviously, this one wasn't nearly as fat as Cow.
