Synopsis
I’m a modern-day duel addict—cards, combos, and perfect lines are basically my native language. So when I wake up in the Duel Monsters era, my first thought is simple: Easy mode. These people are practically playing with stone tablets. I’ll crush them. …Except reality hits me like a direct attack to the face. Wait—why are these “primitive-era” decks so terrifyingly optimized? Wait—why am I the reincarnation of Kisara? Wait—why do I run straight into Seto Kaiba the moment I arrive? And then comes the final blow: To unlock new decks and stronger cards, I have to keep dueling—constantly. Fine. If this world runs on duels… Then let’s duel. Bring it on.

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Transmigration

"Lord Seto… your heart will never become a prisoner of darkness."

"Kisara…"

Seto held Kisara's lifeless body, knelt before the mural of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, and let two silent streams of tears fall.

"Wuwu… another day of getting moved to tears by these two…"

A girl sat in front of her computer, wiping at her eyes.

"Kisaragi! It's late—go to bed!" a middle-aged woman said as she came into the room.

"I know! Let me finish this episode first!" Kisaragi replied.

"Honestly… a young lady playing with these cards all day. Not ladylike at all," her mother grumbled, pointing at several boxes of trading cards on the desk.

"Mom, it's my hobby!" Kisaragi stuck out her tongue and laughed.

After seeing her mother out, Kisaragi lay down on her bed. Her favorite deck rested beside her pillow. Under the pale moonlight, she stared at the card in her hand:

Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

"If only I could transmigrate into the world of Yu-Gi-Oh!…"

Clinging to that thought, she drifted into sleep.

The top card of the deck beside her pillow—the Blue-Eyes White Dragon—flickered once with a faint, mysterious glow.

Morning light filtered through the curtains and fell across Kisaragi's eyelids. They fluttered. She slowly opened her eyes.

"Mom, what time is it?" she called out.

No answer.

"…Did she go out?"

She didn't think much of it at first and tried to go back to sleep, but the house was too quiet. An uneasy feeling crept up her spine.

Kisaragi sat up sharply—

—and froze.

This wasn't her room.

A strange, unfamiliar room filled her view.

"Where… am I?"

Panic surged. She looked around. The layout was simple: one living room, one bedroom, minimal furniture. But as she took it in, something felt off.

Her viewpoint was… higher.

Then she passed a mirror.

And her breath caught.

Silver hair, long and flowing.

Blue eyes.

A beautiful, delicate face.

"This is… Kisara…?"

Kisaragi's mind blanked.

"Did I turn into Kisara?!"

She pinched her cheek hard.

"Ow! That hurts… so I'm not dreaming!"

She rushed around, found an ID card and a household registry booklet, and scanned the information.

"Kisaragi Aoi…"

She whispered the name under her breath.

Then—

"Ding! System binding in progress…"

A mechanical voice sounded directly inside her head.

"System? So… I really transmigrated?"

"System binding complete. Welcome, Host, to the Yu-Gi-Oh! DM world!"

"DM world? Then what about my original world?" Kisaragi demanded.

"Host, you were brought here by the Blue Dragon Spirit. In your original world, your existence has been erased."

"Erased…? Then my parents… my friends… they'll forget I ever existed?" Her voice trembled.

"Yes," the system answered in an emotionless tone.

Kisaragi collapsed to the floor, stunned. The weight of it crushed her chest. She sat there for a long time—until, little by little, she forced herself to accept the reality she was trapped in.

"System."

"I'm here."

"What point in the DM timeline am I in?" she asked.

"Host is currently at the very beginning of the DM world. The story has not started yet."

"Then where's my deck?" Kisaragi said quickly. "This world runs on duels. Without cards, I won't be able to do anything."

"Host: before your transmigration, the Blue Dragon Spirit brought all cards from your original world with you. They are currently stored by the system."

Kisaragi's eyes lit up.

"Haha—then I can totally stomp these primitive duelists and become the King of Games!"

As the system's voice faded, a deck case appeared at her waist.

She pulled the deck out and flipped through the cards.

"As expected… a Blue-Eyes deck. But a lot of cards are missing—like Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon, Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon, and stuff."

"Host: your original deck's power level is too high. Using it too early would destabilize this world. The deck you've been given is considered a strong deck within this era."

"I see…" Kisaragi murmured as she checked a few more cards. "Even the tuners like The White Stone of Legend have become effect monsters—no 'Tuner' text. But since DM can't Synchro Summon anyway, that's fine."

"Then what about my other decks?" she asked. "Like Labrynth, Tearlaments—those kinds?"

"Other decks will be automatically unlocked by the system at specific points in time."

"Good," she said, then hesitated. "One more thing. The duel rules in this world won't be like the anime, right? All that 'house rules' stuff, making things up on the fly?"

Her head throbbed slightly. She was used to official rules. If she got thrown into some primitive ruleset with random life points and nonsense, she'd lose her mind.

"The system has modified this world's duel environment. Duels use unified rules: both players have 4000 Life Points. The first player draws one card. Direct attacks are allowed. There is Main Phase 1 and Main Phase 2. Under normal circumstances, during the opponent's turn you may only activate Trap Cards and Quick-Play Spell Cards."

"Perfect," Kisaragi breathed out. "If it started at 2000 LP like the early anime, I'd never accept it."

She looked around her new home.

"Staying inside won't change anything. I'll go out and gather information."

Kisaragi walked through Domino City, surrounded by crowds and noise.

"So this is Domino City… the place where so many generations of Yu-Gi-Oh begin."

As she walked, a luxury car swept past.

A black limousine rolled through the streets. In the back seat sat a handsome young man with short brown hair, dressed in a white suit, his gaze fixed on the city outside.

"President Kaiba," said a middle-aged man in a black suit and sunglasses, "Domino City will soon host a National Duelist Tournament. The organizers hope Kaiba Corporation will send a representative to attend."

"Hmph. Not interested," the young man replied coolly. "They say they want KaibaCorp to participate, but really they just want sponsorship. A low-quality tournament like that isn't worth my time. Isono, tell them—"

Before he could finish saying reject, a silver-haired girl entered his vision.

Kaiba's expression, usually carved from stone, rippled—just slightly.

"Isono. Stop the car."

"Yes, sir!"

The brakes hissed.

Kaiba stepped out immediately, scanning the streets.

"President… are you looking for someone?" Isono asked.

"Why did that woman feel so… familiar?" Kaiba thought, a rare unease stirring inside him.

"I'll look around myself. Wait here."

"Yes, sir!"

Kaiba walked through the streets searching—until he reached the entrance of a game arcade.

Suddenly, inside his deck, Blue-Eyes White Dragon shone with a brilliant light—as if it had sensed its own kind, thrilled and excited.

"This light…? Don't tell me…!"

Kaiba's eyes narrowed.

"Is there a fourth Blue-Eyes White Dragon here?"

He strode into the arcade without hesitation.

And there—

on a dueling stage—

stood the silver-haired girl from before, facing off against a male duelist.
