Chapter 13 - Fiery Assault

Vikir's body swelled even further, until his height reached over five meters from head to toe. His face stretched out until it became a snout, and his eyes turned into slits as horns protruded from his temples.

With a draconic roar, he opened his maw, the insides of his mouth glowing a red hot hue. The next instant, a beam of concentrated heat shot forth, a laser of pure scorching energy.

The Green Devil seemed to stall for a split second as the beam shot towards it, however the sheer size of the monstrosity and the momentum it moved at made it impossible to dodge or avoid the attack in any way.

A sharp cry rang through the air as the energy beam pierced the chest of the Green Devil. A small hole, roughly enough to fit a grown man in, had now appeared clean through the Void Creature.

Of course, such a small amount of damage seemed insignificant in respect to the gargantuan size of the monster, as its wounds were already quickly closing up.

A sharp glint lingered in Vikir's eyes as he watched the scene. Flapping his wings, putting some distance between himself and the Void Creature to get a better look. While the injuries made on the eyes of the monster by Calypso had long since healed, the scorched holes which he had created showed zero signs of healing.

A low rumble generated deep inside his throat as he transmitted his findings, "Fire can prevent it from healing! All Awakeners who possess abilities that can burn, step forth!"

Instantly, several Eclipse and Night Weaver members stepped forth, unleashing a fiery torrent upon the Green Devil that chased continuously after the leader of the Night Weavers. However, his smaller size made him much more nimble, capable of dodging and weaving under attacks and occasionally unleashing a heat breath that pierced another hole into the monster's herculean form.

Their continued assault from two fronts discombobulated the grotesque monster, unable to lock onto a single target. It could only swipe at Vikir to no avail, its massive body slowly becoming charred from burns.

Without warning, the Void Creature flailed its limbs, its mountainous tail gathering and coiling to protect its body. Its massive form pierced the skies like an insurmountable mountain, blocking out all light with no end in sight.

Much to the shock of the Void Subjugation Corp, the Void Creature's body gained a metallic sheen, becoming solid like steel. The original flesh had been fully replaced in seconds, replaced by a metallic hull that faintly sported hundreds of burn wounds.

One lone figure stepped forth, a young woman with stark black hair chopped to shoulder length, with a fair and delicate face complete with freckles and round eyes. She sported Nightfall's insignia on her jacket and a knee length black skirt.

Raising one hand, she pointed her palm towards the Void Creature. Her dark eyes glimmered, wisps of flame gathering around her like fireflies.

Her voice was soft, yet it carried far, "Help me get a clear shot"

Calypso circled the air, her arms pressed towards the sky as motes of light surrounded her and the white dragon's body. Sweat beaded her body, causing her clothes to cling tightly to her tanned skin.

"Sky Gate: Ultimate!"

Her words took form, the world responding to her call. The skies above churned, dark clouds twisting into a whirlpool as electricity crackled. A faint roar could be heard in the skies above, and a dark shadow lingered.

Claws dipped below the clouds for a split second, black scales peeking under to give a glimpse of the beast that was hidden above the dark clouds. Calypso began to tremble from an invisible pressure, her whole being struggling to maintain her stance.

At last, she let out a command, her words radiating a commanding aura, "Heavenly Judgement!"

The clouds parted to reveal the snout of a black scaled dragon, much larger than the white dragon she summoned. A look at the size of the dragon's head allowed one to infer that it was at least half the size of the Green Devil.

The beast opened its maw, a thick stench filling the air as static electricity began coursing over its scales, coalescing over its mouth filled with razor sharp teeth and two pairs of razor sharp fangs.

In an instant, a blinding light descended upon the world, lighting up the darkened lands shrouded by the body of the Void Creature. Every member of the Void Subjugation Corp shielded their eyes from a blinding pillar of crackling blue electricity, pouring down and striking at the Green Devil.

BOOM!

A whirlwind was carried out in all directions, uprooting trees and grass from the ground, before a resounding explosion shattered the sound barrier and resounded for a hundred miles. Everyone was forced to use their abilities to shield themselves or risk going deaf.

Meanwhile, the steel encased Green Devil showed no signs of movement, still motionless as it had curled up while its hardy steel exterior hissed from the heat of the thunder, peeling away in parts like molten metals.

Soon enough, the light dimmed, and the pillar of thunder that struck the Void Creature dwindled, its mighty power dissipating into the wind as tiny sparks flew about.

The Green Devil still stood as mountainous as before, only now it's previously touch steel flesh had become red hot, soft and malleable. A few miles away the young woman from earlier, Nightfall's leader, shifted from her previously immobile stance.

"Flame Manipulation: Lance!"

A torrent of flames gathered at her behest, twisting and spinning as they condensed into an elongated form. Five lances of pure fire spun wildly in the air, sparks of flame rising into the air, turning it hot and heavy. In a flash, the five lances whistled through the air and pierced the softened flesh of the Green Devil.

The lances dug inside, latching on and continuing to rotate, gaining speed and ferocity without ever becoming deterred. The previously unmoving Void Creature shifted, its flesh squirming despite its sheer size compared to the lances that looked to be smaller than needles in comparison.

Without warning, the fire lances expanded, their brilliant light getting brighter as they spun with greater speed, illuminating the battlefield. They drilled deep into the monster's squirming flesh as viscous blood poured out, only to be evaporated instantly by the heat.

Calypso called down from her mount, her chest still heaving from her earlier display, "Keep attacking it with flames! We have to help Cinder destroy the star cores!"

A few wisps of flame shot forth from the other Awakeners, though their heat was not as powerful as the lances Cinder was trying to maintain. As such, their pitiful heat was quickly smothered.

Without warning, a beam of heat shot towards the Green Devil, piercing into its body and leaving a deep hole, enough for someone to crawl through. Vikir frowned, seeing his damage to the monster lessening.

A low rumble echoed within the mountain that was the Void Creature, putting every Awakener on edge. Cinder frowned, her eyes glowing a soft red hue. She pressed her palms forward, putting more energy into controlling her lances that continued to dig into the body of the Green Devil.

Abruptly, a crack appeared along the steel body of the monstrosity, akin to a deep valley within the earth, and the world went silent.
