Chapter 18 - Training Instructors

Emerald shook herself from the thought.

'No, I'll be done with all this paperwork... soon...'

Taking in a deep breath, she pondered for a moment. The Void Subjugation Corp was powerful, and she had no doubt that the Awakeners she had selected would come out on top with ease. However, it seems that without the proper fighting experience, the Void Subjugation Corp does not have the confidence to succeed.

As much as she wanted to simply reassure them that they were strong enough to take on the forces of the Saint-Supremes, she understood that their lack of confidence may lead to lapses in judgement at a critical moment.

She sighed, lamenting her fate, "Alright alright, I do happen to know some people that may be able to help you"

Pressing a few buttons on her tablet, Emerald turned it around for the duo to see. Shock etched itself onto their faces as they looked at what was being displayed on the tablet.

"Go to this location with the selected individuals," Emerald said with a smile, "There will be people there who can help. As for those who want to participate in team battles, I'll make an arrangement for them"

-

The glass doors shut finally, signaling the last of the Void Subjugation Corp entering a spacious steel training room, heavily fortified with materials that could suppress even powerful Awakeners.

Standing at the head of the crowd, Esther cleared her throat to speak, "Ahem!"

A wave of silence washed over the Awakeners as they awaited for what resulted from their meeting with Emerald.

Nodding with satisfaction, Esther took out her device and pulled up a map location, "The squad leaders and the Void Reaper squad shall all head on over to the Valley of Enlightenment"

Gasps and shocked expressions immediately disturbed the quiet room.

The Valley of Enlightenment, a holy land for any Awakener and home to exactly seven individuals. Powerful Divine-Cursed level Awakeners, one for each of the ability types, and experts of their respective fields with over three thousand years of experience.

Meaning, these seven experts have teetered on the line of the Saint-Supreme level for a long time, and have lived through three Wars over Fate, with this thousand year period being the only one without the birth of a new Harbinger pair.

It is to no one's surprise that such powerful people have received many offers to join the forces of a Saint-Supreme, though they have declined every single time. Instead, they give out favors, to those deemed worthy, and bestow upon the new generation their extensive knowledge.

Vikir stepped forward, "Do we have to earn their teachings or has Miss Emerald arranged it for us already"

"Both," Nina answered casually, much to the dismay and confusion of everyone aside from Esther.

"We gained free entry thanks to Miss Emerald's connections," she continued, "Though whether or not those old sages would accept us is a whole other issue. We managed to skip the line, but we still need to prove ourselves worthy"

Someone from the Nightfall squad stepped forward, "What about the regular members who wish to fight in the team battles?"

As if on que, the reinforced glass doors of the training hall opened, with three pairs of footsteps following through.

Three identical looking men, all middle aged and dressed in black military garb, walked in formation past the Void Subjugation Corp until they stood next to Esther and Nina. While confused, the rest of the Void Subjugation Corp said nothing, for they could feel the power of a Divine level Awakener in all three of them.

Esther gestured towards the trio, "Code name Trinity One, Two, and Three. They were specifically recommended by Miss Emerald and will be your combat instructors to prepare for the solstice"

Her gaze turned to those selected for the individual, "Let us depart now, the quicker we can get there, the less time we waste," then she turned to the Void Subjugation Corp once more, "Do not let the Harbinger down"

And with that, she led the squad leaders and the Void Reaper squad out of the room, quickly disappearing from sight and leaving the corps with the Trinity triplets.

The moment they stepped out of the training room, a gruff voice boomed across the walls, reverberating within the skulls of the members of the Void Subjugation Corps.

"Attention!"

All heads swiveled, turning to look at their new training instructors.

The triplets have changed, their auras blaring in full. On the right, the one with three white stripes on their uniform, emitted a constant wave of mental pressure that seemed to multiply gravity. On the left, the two striped brothers had uncorked a canteen, manipulating the water into various intricate shapes.

As for the last of the triplets, he stood in the center, his muscular hands having morphed, with a thick black carapace covering every inch.

They smiled, showing all their teeth with such sinister intent that the renowned slayers of Void Creatures shuddered slightly in fear.

"From today on, we will attack you all, and you all will attack us until you bring us to our knees," Trinity One rubbed his transformed fists, "Don't worry, no one will die"

-

As the Void Subjugation Corps underwent their training and the selected individuals made their way to the Valley of Enlightenment, Noah flew above the clouds, his body shrouded from the bustling city below.

Stretching over hundreds of square miles and containing thousands of high rise buildings and skyscrapers, this urban landscape could be considered the greatest conglomeration of technology and innovation, complete with electromagnetic trains soaring through tracks in the sky and a complex artificial intelligence system that drives every vehicle in the city.

New Providence, a renowned city known for its high level of technology and large number of Awakeners supporting the city's infrastructure. However, if it was just that, then it wouldn't stand out among the dozen other cities with similar structure.

Rather, at the center of the city, a vast stretch of land had been left untouched by modern civilization. An open grassland surrounded by skyscrapers, supporting only one building at its center.

A tall building styled in the fashion of a Victorian era church, complete with gothic columns and carvings, sat at the center of the vast field of grass. Despite its old and grand appearance that juxtaposes the rest of the city, there seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary, as if it was a mere historic landmark.

However, anyone with the slightest bit of intelligence knew better than to think that this cathedral was a mere decoration.

The symbol of light and hope against the darkness, and considered the bastion of humanity for raising every Harbinger of Positivity, this was the Holy Sanctuary's main cathedral, the Saint Garden Cathedral.
