AT THE SAME TIME
ISABELLA
The limousine door shut with a sound that felt permanent. Not loud, not dramatic, just final. I sat there, trapped in a leather seat that probably cost more than my entire existence, Xavier, across from me, one arm draped far too casually along the backrest like this was a date and not a felony with snacks. I stared at him, and he stared back. The car moved.
"Oh." I whispered. "We are actually doing this."
"Yes." He said calmly.
"I screamed."I argued.
"You scream often."He said.
"I requested assistance!"I added.
"You received commentary."He said.
I crossed my arms, hard.
"This is kidnapping."I said.
He tilted his head slightly, amused and dangerous.
"This is transportation."Xavier said. "That is NOT the same thing as I carried you unconscious earlier."
"I DID NOT PLAN THAT."I argued.
"You escalated beautifully."He said.
I opened my mouth to argue again when the system popped up, glowing smugly between us.
