Theodore noticed me constantly checking my phone and asked, "Whatcha looking at?"
We shared the same mentor, so secrets between us were pretty rare.
I answered directly, "Ever heard of the Sky Talons?"
Theodore wasn't into fighting stuff, so naturally, he'd never heard of them.
He shook his head, looking clueless.
"Figured as much." I glanced at him before returning to my phone. "Not your problem anyway."
I caught Theodore rolling his eyes internally.
I made it sound casual, but anxiety gnawed at me.
The Sky Talons' origins remained murky, but the available intel suggested this so-called armed force had backing from some government.
Plenty of countries maintained similar special forces or state-affiliated military groups.
These were the real elite operators.
Operating with code names instead of official ranks, they worked in the shadows for national interests, wielding power that transcended normal law.
Yet their governments disavowed every action.
