Chapter 3 - the tour

He walked out, and the radiating heat coming off me almost instantly died down. "I hate that man," I growled, and Cinder jumped up on me and licked my face.

I smiled a little and whispered, "Thanks, girl," before barking, "Come along, boys."

Christopher trudged on slowly behind me, and Ezra was trying to keep up with me. As we walked through all of the classrooms that teach torture and demon history or dark spells and potions, Ezra seemed desperate for my attention. Looking for any way to get me to talk to him. We arrived at the cafeteria soon after. Completing the tour, we made it around the rest of the school. Ending up in the west wing.

As we walked to the west wing with all of the dorms, I said, "This is the wing by the scorched beach and where the dorms are." Then, of course, out of the blue, a fiery paper flew into my hand, I grabbed it and read it. It said: the angels are going to stay in the boys' side of the dorms, and the room number is 536 A. I crumpled up the paper and threw it in the air, and it turned to dust.

Ezra asked, "What was that?" I looked back at his annoyingly beautiful face and sighed in irritation,

"It just told me your dorm room number, so hurry up, I've got other crap to do; your stuff should be in your room already. You will be staying with two of my friends, and if you fuck with them, I give them full permission to punish you guys."

Christopher huffed, "That doesn't seem like friendship if you order them around. They are people too."

My brows furrowed, "Huh, so now you think they are people. You didn't think so when you flew down here to spy on us."

Venom coated my voice, and involuntarily, my eyes turned red, and my body heated up. Christopher hesitantly backed up I laughed and snapped my teeth at him, making him jump.

Ezra came up to me with sweat dripping down his face faster the closer he got. "Hey, we won't mess with your friends, and it's a good thing that he thinks of them as people, right? It's none of our business what you and your friends do."

I drank up a deep breath and sighed heavily. I bored holes into his eyes with my stare, slowly calming down, hating myself for my reaction to him. I silently walked past him to show them the way to their room. Christopher hurried up, and Ezra tripped over his wings again.

I tried to hide my affectionate chuckle, "Do your wings go inside your body like mine? It'd probably help you stop almost falling on your face, but if not, it'll be fun to watch."

He sighed, "They do, but it makes me uncomfortable." Christopher spoke up, "Do you find joy in other people's pain?"

I giggled and just to taunt him, I said, "I really, really do, but it would be funnier if it were you instead of him; he just looks pathetic and sad, but a big, ugly guy like you, I would fall over laughing."

We had stopped walking so Ezra could rebalance himself, so Christopher decided to get up in my face and say,

"You better watch how you talk to me, or I'll bring this school down, and you, your evil animal, and your friends will die."

I smiled brightly but cruelly for the first time in a couple of months. "It's funny you think I care about this school, but if you get near my friends, or my tiger, with ill intent, I'll rip you apart and feed you to the students here. I wonder what colour angel blood is. Is it gold? Well, we'll just have to see, but I'll show you something. I don't necessarily have to touch you to make you see things, but I'm working on it, so it's stronger if I do."

I put my hand on his arm and showed him my darkest thoughts about torturing him. He staggered away from me and pulled Ezra away from me.

He said, "Stay away from this-this thing!"

I rolled my eyes. "Don't you want to see your room and get out of my hair?" he nodded reluctantly and kept a safe distance from me, but he did let go of Ezra when he finally wrenched his arm out of his grip. I smirked and walked to the stairs, then pulled out my black wings and flew up the stairs at the top. I looked behind me to see the angels flying to catch up to me. I landed on the ground softly and waited a few seconds for the angels. I'm known for my very fast flying.

Christopher said, "Which number is it? We can find it ourselves." I shrugged, "You can try, but you don't know what's in these halls." he gave me an irritated look. "What could possibly be in these halls?"

I chuckled, "You shouldn't've asked. There are hellhounds and familiars everywhere, from a tiger to a small demon imp. There are many things you could find, and you're not allowed to kill them on purpose." he groaned and slumped his shoulders. "Fine, but once we open the door, you're out of here."

I scoffed, "Not like I wanted to stay anyway, I've got homework, and I gotta feed Cinder."

We walked down one hall, and when we turned the corner, there was a hellhound. I looked closer and saw it had a scar on its nose, and when it got close with foam at the mouth and growling, the angels were freaking out.

I said, "Soulreaper! What are you doing away from Magnus?" Ezra looked scared and moved closer to me, Christopher was half terrified and half enjoying the sight, thinking Soulreaper was gonna kill me. The hellhound ran at full speed right towards me and knocked me over, licking my face. I looked over to see Ezra smiling with a hint of worry, and Christopher was super upset. I looked down the hall because I heard a noise, and I saw Magnus looking a little frightened.

He scrambled over to us and tried to pull Soulreaper off of me. "I'm so sorry, Scarlett, he must have smelled you coming. I came as fast as I could." he succeeded in getting him off of me. But my thick black and red curls stuck to my face. Earlier u said her hair was brownnn

I looked at Magnus with a sneer, "Control your dog, or you'll get more than a warning next time." he nodded shakily, "Yes, ma'am."

Soulreaper whimpered and sat at Magnus' feet. I pushed his shoulder as I walked away from him, making him stumble. After we passed Magnus and he was far enough away, Christopher said, "What the fuck, Scarlett. Why were you so mean?"

I looked back at him with a sneer, "Wow, I didn't know angels were allowed to swear, and are you serious? Did you really ask a demon why they were mean? You're dumber than you look." I turned back and kept walking until I reached room 536.

I opened the door and said, "Voila! Now I'm leaving. Noah and Levi will be down after dinner, not that you need to know, but I'm having a study session. Don't bother trying to show up. The boys won't be happy that you will be rooming with them."

I flipped my hair dramatically and started walking away as Christoopher christooopher christooooooopherrrrrr walked into the room. Ezra touched my shoulder, and on instinct, I grabbed his hand and pulled so that his shoulder was up against me, and I twisted his arm back and almost ripped it off as he said,

"Hey, Hey! Don't rip my arm off, it's me, the one you've been mostly ignoring since I got here." I let go of his arm and looked at him weirdly.

He laughed and said, "I can pick up on your emotions, and you've been personally ignoring me besides when you felt sorry for me. I can only pick up the emotions that are about me, and if they are strong enough about other people, and you really have a problem with him," he pointed behind him at his new dorm room.

I growled, "What do you want? I'm not in the mood for this, and you're in my way." he looked a little sad. "Why are you so angry all the time? And why do you push people away?"

I rolled my eyes, and my body started heating up. "I'm not going to spill all of my problems on a stranger, especially not an angel. I'm not looking for a new friend, and I'd never choose you if I were."

He sighed and frowned a little, but still persisted, "Then let's get to know each other. How about tomorrow, since you are clearly itching to get away from me to get something done?"

I looked into his eyes, and I saw pure intentions and an air of fixing things. I grew irritated, "I don't need fixing, and getting to know each other holds no importance to me. So go unpack and settle down and get out of my hair."

He exclaimed, "Ha! You did it again!" I looked at him, confused, "Did what again?"

"You were being a little layer of nice! You said something nice but covered it up so it looked like you didn't care, but I can feel that you do."

I growled and got in his face, "You're wrong, I don't care about you or anyone else besides my tiger and my friends."

I started stalking away because I couldn't argue with him. 'Ugh! Usually, it's so easy to stay detached and argue with people, even when I'm wrong, I can still make them cower. But I don't want him to cower under me,' a little voice in the back of my mind said. I unfurled my wings and flew down the stairs and out of the building. I turned from where I was in the middle of the air to gaze out at the beautiful scorched beach. Then out of nowhere, I got a stabbing headache, and I flew closer to the ground because I was feeling lightheaded too.
