Albus stood up from his seat and walked towards the table of the teens, who looked marvelled.
"Didn't you hear me?" He asked, smiling.
"I said it's Latin, Junkheads!"
"He called us Junkheads again!" Kevin whispered to himself.
"Uhh.... Thanks. We've heard you" Lenora answered. This time, albus wasn't smiling
"Ohh. So, you are the big boy here, huh?" Albus asked, after he heard what Kevin had whispered.
Kevin didn't say anything.
"Am asking you a question!" Albus yelled this time, hitting Kevin head with his own plate.
"Ohh. Now, I've lost it" Kevin quietly said to himself and stood up, facing Albus.
"Kevin, don't fight!" Lenora was trying to warn him
".... I think you should adhere to your friend's advice, because am gonna beat your ass" He said. Laughter was heard in the room.
"Well, she's my sister..... And besides, it's obvious you're gonna turn me into a pancake. Hope you've got a spatula?" Kevin asked
More laughter roared.
"I do this for a Living, boy!" Albus said
"Ohhh. Cool Job title. Am sure you've got business cards too" Everybody roared with laughter. Even Cole couldn't help it this time. Albus got more angry. Kevin and Albus got in a fierce brawl. He swung a vicious punch at Kevin but Kevin swiftly dodged it with fast reflexes. Countering with a flurry of rapid fire punches, Kevin rained down a barrage of blows on Albus head, sending him stumbling. But Albus fought back with inmense strength, hoisting Kevin off the ground and slamming him unto the ground floor. Screams were heard from the girls as everyone was on their feet. In a bizzare twist, Albus grabbed a fork and attempted to jab Kevin with it, but Kevin dodged the erratic stab with ease.
Seizing the opportunity, Kevin snatched the fork from Albus's grasp and retaliated with a mock "starve" maneuver, jabbing the fork into Albus left arm. He yelled slamming himself onto the ground. Others screamed.
"Kevin!!" Lenora screamed
"What have you done??" She was in shock.
"Next time, before you decide to make up a show for some audience...." Kevin looked at him
"Think twice!" He said and pulled the fork off his arm. He yelled.
"Oh, my God. He's okay" Cole gasped
"What is this??" A familiar vioce was loudly heard. As everyone wanted to quickly run off, it yelled again.
"Remain where you are. Don't move an inch!"
Looking at the direction of the voice, a man was seen. A pale tall and thin man, with silver hair and beard. He wore a white cloak. A brown staff was seen in his left hand — It was Mr. Bruce Deverson. The teens were shocked when they saw him.
"How'd he get here?" Cole whispered
"You don't know..... We don't either!" Emma replied
"What has gotten over your heads!?" He yelled at Kevin and Albus
"Since when did I announce that this place has become a wrestling ring??"
"Sir, he was at fault!" Kevin tried to defend himself.
"I haven't asked you to talk!"
Kevin stayed quiet.
"Get up!" He said to Albus. Injured Albus used him right hand for support to get back on his feet.
"Kevin!" Mr. Mason came out.
"Another fight again?" He asked, in disbelief.
"Well, it wasn't my fault. No one informed me that they had bullies here" Kevin said
"He's badly injured" Miss Ponytail said, as the injury on Albus arm had swollen up and it was bleeding.
"Attend to that before anything else" Mr. Bruce said. Albus followed Miss Ponytail to a corner.
"And you?..... Follow me!.... Infact, all of you!" He said, pointing at the table where the teens had breakfast. Cole and Mr. Mason exchanged looks, as they all followed Mr. Bruce Deverson into a room.
"And what are you all looking at?" Mr. Mason asked the crowd. All the teens immediately went back to their seats.
As the teens got into the room with Mr. Bruce, it wasn't dark anymore. It has lit up now but it was without a light source. The teens didn't even think about that.
"Guess you are the owner of the restaurant, old man. Because no one yells at customers like that!" Kevin angrily said
"Kevin!. Show some respect!" Lenora warned him.
"Well... What must I say?" Mr. Bruce voice sounded calm.
"It is said that girls are the most well-mannered nowadays...." He added
"He's just like that. No offense" Cole cut in. Mr. Bruce fixed his eyes on him
"I was expecting we get scolded or punished!" Percy, who had kept quiet for a very long time, finally talked.
"Ohhh!. It's true but it hasn't called for a gathering, has it?" Mr. Bruce asked. They all gave him that "what-are-you-talking-about" look.
"I mean the fight" he understood.
"Kevin, what business do you have with that guy?. I thought I had told you not to get yourself into trouble!" Mr. Mason was in the room now.
"Well, I must say. The other guy is the one in trouble" Oliver chuckled
"Am sure he's a bully!" She added
"Just remain calm, Alec. Like I said, that hasn't called for this gathering" Mr. Bruce said.
"So, why are we here then?. I have breakfast to finish" Emma said
The room was silent for a while before Mr. Bruce spoke.
"Lenora, I can sense you are the smartest of all here" He talked to her. She smiled
"If I am to ask you..... If you were to be something in the future, what would that be?" He asked.
"Uhh.... A polyglot?"
"How does it sounds?"
"It's amazing to be a polyglot" She said. Mr. Bruce then turned to Cole. "And you would become a marketer?"
"Nah!."
Mr. Bruce then turned to Kevin. "Gamer??"
"Cool!"
"Software Engineer?"
"Really awesome!" Percy replied.
"Dentist!!" Emma exclaimed before he could ask her.
"And you?" He asked Oliver
"Maybe an architect"
"You see?. So, my point is that we all have different mindset, different ambitions in life but then it all leads us to one destination. And that destination is where you actually want to be." He said
"Sometimes it's difficult to accept the truth but then that is what life has laid ahead of you — The truth" he added
"The truth??. I just finished a fight!" Kevin was trying to remind Mr. Bruce.
"Besides, what truth are you talking about?" Curious Cole asked
"Look, boys and girls." Mr. Mason stepped into the conversation.
"There is something you all don't know about yourselves"
"Haven't you noticed any strange thing since when you turned 10?" He asked all of them
"Strange things?... A lot. I mean Cole is very familiar with that "strange" word" Percy said. They all glanced at Cole.
"No. Not about things been strange. It's about you been strange"
"Oh. Now, I don't know where this is going" Oliver exclaimed
"We still wanna hear the truth cause am getting hungry!" Kevin said
"Okay... Okay" Mr. Mason was unease.
"Dad, are you okay?. Tell us what you wanna tell us!" Lenora said
"You see, guys. We all walk under a different moon, right from the day you were born" He said
"What does that even mean?" Percy asked
"It means our shadows are cast differently at night. We see the night differently from the way those earthlings do!" Mr. Mason elaborated
"Earthlings?" Lenora asked
"Of course. Humans!" The teens looked confused.
"Hold on" Cole paused
"If you are calling humans "those earthlings", then, what are you?.... What are we?" Cole asked
"That's a smart question" Mr. Bruce smiled
"Cole, are you kidding me?" Kevin said, in disbelief
"So, you are actually saying that we are a "what"?" Lenora too was shocked. All the teens eyes were fixed on Mr. Mason.
. "We aren't them. We are supernatural beings — Specifically Vampires!" He finally said
Kevin roared in laughter.
"Kevin, stop that behavior of yours. Am being serious right now" Mr. Mason said
"Are you for real??. Are you being serious right now?." He couldn't stop laughing.
"Well, am sure Lenora attends History classes 24/7. She should know what am talking about!" Kevin turned to Lenora, who was shocked and her face was poignant.
"Come on, Lenora. Don't tell me you believe this?" He said.
"Don't tell me you believe this!!... These are myths!" He yelled, but no response. Everywhere was silent. He tuned to Cole
"Cole. Hope you don't believe this??!..... Hope you don't!?" Kevin yelled
"We are humans bro!."
"Well, that's the thing. The truth is inevitable, Kevin. You have to accept it." Mr. Bruce said
"Wait!. I still can't believe this!. You mean Vampires?" Percy asked
"Is it not easy to believe, Percy??." Cole said. His voice was kinda hurt.
"All these strange things we've been encountering. It's easy to believe!" He added
"All these years, Dad!!!" Lenora yelled, as tears welled up in her eyes
"All these years, you kept something like this away from us!!"
"It was for the best" Mr. Mason replied
"The best??" Oliver interrupted
"Being chased by a bunch of weirdos is the best??. We are stuck here, Dad!" Lenora yelled
"Noo!. This is home" Mrs. Mason entered the room.
"What's going on?" She asked
"Mum, Dad says we aren't humans!"
"Tell me this ain't true, Mum!" She said in tears
"You just have to accept....."
"You knew?" Kevin vioce has now become stinging. Percy, Oliver, Dominic and Emma had walked out of the room, going to meet their parents.
