The Mason of number 5 Maple Street were perfectly normal or so their neighbors thought. They were rich local celebrities who lived in an old mansion with their nephew, Cole, who nobody thought was strange. Infact, he was the only thing not strange in the Mason Mansion.
Mr. Mason was a surgeon in one of the local hospitals. He was a tall and big muscled man like a serious weight lifter, with blond curly hair, while Mrs. Mason was statuesque. She was a beautiful figure. The kind you saw on a sports illustrated swimsuit. She spent most of her time in the local library.
Mr and Mr. Mason had two children — Kevin and Lenora, who were cousins to Cole. Lenora was 14 (Fourteen) years old. She had yellowish long hair and was a replica of her mother and she behaved more matured than she looked. Most times, she wore a sleeveless dress. Kevin, on the other hand, was a tall, muscular and blond 15 (Fifteen) year old guy. He had scruffy blond hair and usually wore a black T-shirt and blue jeans. Cole was Lanky with untidy black hair, usually wearing leather jacket and black jeans. He always spent most of his time, alone, making his thoughts his best company. They were all devastatingly and inhumanly beautiful. They were faces you'd never expect to see on the air brushed page of a fashion magazine.
On a bright and sunny day, the sun shore brilliantly in the clear blue sky, with white fluffy clouds drifting across the sky. It was Cole's birthday, and Kevin and Lenora had prepared gifts and decorated the Living room. As it got late, they decided to check on Cole in his room.
When they got to the door, they knocked twice. Lenora sensed amiss, saying "But something isn't right somewhere. Cole hasn't done this once. He wakes up early and we don't have to go to his room to wake him up"
"Are you even sure he's inside?" Kevin added, as he pushed the door open. They found Cole shivering in his bed.
"Cole!, Cole!!" Both of them shouted, tapping him, but he was still shivering.
"Lenora, go call Dad" Kevin said
Mr. Mason was in his bedroom, reading a newspaper when Lenora rushed in.
"Dad, come quickly!"
"What's it?" He asked
"It's Cole!"
"He's shivering in his bed!" She added
He dropped the sheet and ran towards Cole's room. There, he saw Cole, still shivering.
"What really happened?" Mr. Mason asked
"We don't know. We just..." Kevin was about to say something when suddenly, Cole woke up and screamed, "The window!!". They were all shocked. Cole was sweating profusely.
"What's it?.... What is the 'window?' " Kevin asked
"It was a nightmare, right?" Mr. Mason cut in
"Yes"
Cole turned to Kevin and asked "Did we play Video games last night?"
"No. Did you dream about video games?"
"We were playing a video game last night and there was this thing in the window" Cole shuttered, trying to remember what his nightmare was all about. His mind raced back to it.
Kevin, Lenora and Cole was playing a video game when they began to hear scary sounds, followed by: Lightning bolts, howling winds, and heavy downpour. He was about to close the window when he saw a pair of glowing eyes.
"Is that all?. Just glowing eyes?" Mr. Mason was trying to figure out something
"I don't know. I can't remember " Cole replied
"When you heard those scary sounds, apart from the glowing eyes, did anything happen after that?.... "
"I think I saw another pair of glowing eyes at our door too"
Mr. Mason stood up and was about to leave the room when he heard Kevin and Lenora saying something about birthdays.
"Forget about that. Come on!. Come to the Living room. Today is your birthday" Kevin was pulling his out of the bed
"So, today is his birthday?" Mr. Mason asked, for confirmation.
"Yh..." They replied and he rushed out of the room.
