"I can't get used to that. And shouldn't we start completing the mission by now?" Ling Xuan's voice was nonchalant.
Laurel wiped off the tears from her eyes, composing herself. "We will after our patient wakes up."
Just as they were speaking, Chris suddenly moved slightly in the bed, his eyes fluttering open. He let out a little groan as he pulled himself up to a sitting position.
"You're awake." Laurel approached him, feigning a smile.
Chris closed his eyes before opening them again.
"Here, put on your clothes, your treatment is over for today." Laurel handed him his clothes.
Chris nodded his head, as he flexed his fingers. The treatment was more effective than he could have imagined.
He slowly put on his clothes. After he was done, Laurel handed him a bag of medicine.
"Take these every morning and night. It should be boiled under low heat for 30 minutes before drinking." Laurel said, placing the medicine in his hand.
Chris took the medicine. "Thank you." Then he brought out another card from his pocket.
"I see you are very good at what you do. I feel so much better now. I can't even remember the last time I had a good sleep. Here this card has ten million dollars in it."
Laurel blinked to make sure she was not dreaming. She collected the card with a bright smile. "Thank you, Mr. Lennox."
"I should be the one thanking you, Mrs. Wayne." He replied calmly. "I'll take my leave now." He added, glancing at his wrist watch.
Laurel bit her lips, contemplating whether she should inform of the disaster.
"Mr. Lennox, may I have a little bit of your time," Laurel said before she could stop herself.
"Sure." Chris turned to face her again.
"Hmm.." She didn't know how to say it without sounding like a lunatic.
Chris creased his brows at her hesitation.
"Mr. Lennox, soon there would come a disaster where money would be useless. I would advise you to start buying foodstuffs, and essential items to survive in that period. Buy a villa outside the city, preferably in a mountain area, and make sure you have enough water stored. If possible… sell everything you have." Laurel said, staring straight into his eyes.
Chris's frown deepened. "You mean like an apocalypse?"
Laurel nodded her head. "If you don't believe me, three days from now there will be extreme hot weather conditions and it will last for two weeks, before a heavy rain comes."
Chris glanced at his wrist watch again. "We will talk about this again, I have to go now."
With that, he turned around and left. Laurel felt like a fool, she ran her fingers through her hair. "Like who the hell was going to believe me, now he thinks I'm crazy."
"Anyway I told him, so it is up to him to believe me and save himself." Laurel stared at the card in her hand and she smiled.
…
When Laurel arrived at the location of the warehouse it was already noon. She had gone to the market to buy clothes, shoes, sanitary pads, toilet papers, salt, seasonings, pepper, milk, sweets, toothbrushes, modern medicines, and she also bought more foodstuffs such as;
Black eye beans, locust beans, brown beans, beef, chicken, fish, lamb, seafood, tomato, pasta, spaghetti, spaghettini, corn, corn flour, sugar, butter, cheese, eggs, cooking equipment, sunflower oil, olive oil, she bought all types of oils, and lastly, she bought beverages.
She rested her head on the car wheel, her head already throbbing with pain. She felt like she had been walking for almost forever.
She only stepped out of the car, when the goods she ordered finally arrived.
She directed them to place them in the warehouse. After everything was placed inside, the warehouse was almost filled up.
She scratched the back of her head. "That's a lot."
"System, is it possible to put all these goods in the space?" Laurel asked.
[Yes. You just have to think about it and it will appear in the space. The time in the space is different from the real world, they can be stored for a long time.]
Laurel walked closer to the boxes, and as she willed it to go inside her space, the box immediately disappeared. She did the same to all of the boxes, they vanished one after the other.
Laurel stood there in silence, her heart racing slightly. "… this is convenient," she muttered.
After she was done, she went inside her space. Ling Xuan stood in front of the things scattered around the space.
"Am I supposed to stay in a place like this?" Her hand hovered above her sword.
Laurel quickly cleared her throat. "System, is there nowhere else to store them in?"
[Unfortunately, no, hosts don't have enough points to buy a storage or a house… yet.]
Laurel rolled her eyes. In the books she had read, the system was supposed to make things easier for them, but why is her own system making things difficult for her?
She turned to Ling Xuan. "Don't worry, once we have enough points, we can buy a house… for now just bear with it a little."
Ling Xuan glared at her before walking away.
Laurel sighed deeply, she suddenly felt like she had aged due to stress. "Time to complete those missions." She muttered to herself.
Laurel changed her clothes to farming ones. She carried the bush cutter to the back of the warehouse. The land was so big, but all she could see was the endless bushes.
"Ling Xuan, do you want to take over the body now?" She asked, hoping she would say yes.
"NO." Ling Xuan answered curtly.
Laurel closed her eyes and could only cry inwardly. She read the manual of the machine and started operating it. At first, it was a little difficult to do, but as time went on she understood how it worked.
After hours of work. She managed to cut a portion of the bushes.
"Ling Xuan your turn," Laurel said, breathing heavily.
"I'm only accepting because this is the only way I can gain power." Ling Xuan said before reluctantly taking over.
