Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 Get Out

Alexander walked down the path, approaching Laurel's room. He had been waiting for her to apologize for her actions, but there was no trace of her.

The servants stole glances at him before looking away. They wondered what was wrong with Mrs. Wayne, she had slapped Jade the other day and now punched Mr. Wayne.

They all avoided his path like the plague, no one wanted to be used as a scapegoat.

Alexander knocked on the door, but there was no answer. He knocked again, still nothing. His brows furrowed deeply.

"Where is she?!" His voice was as cold as ice.

Raphael, who had been walking behind him, quickly turned around to inquire about Mrs. Wayne's whereabouts.

After he finished asking the questions, he came back to Alexander. A bead of sweat trickled down the back of his neck.

"Boss, Mrs. Wayne happens to have a guest, so she is currently in one of the guest rooms," Raphael said cautiously.

"Guest?" Alexander's voice became colder. He walked past Raphael and headed to the guest wing.

Approaching the room, his hands curled tightly beside him, he gave the ice pack in his hand to Raphael.

Getting to the door, his hand tightened around the handle. He paused for a second, as if questioning his actions.

He inhaled deeply, and his fingers slowly unwrapped the handle, he knocked twice on the door.

..

Laurel helped Chris to lie in a comfortable position before proceeding to arrange her medical box. Just as she was halfway done, a knock came from the other side of the door.

She paused, creasing her brows as she had warned the servants not to disturb her.

She walked to the door, opening it slightly to see who it was. Her eyes widened in surprise, frozen in her spot.

"Mr. Wayne." She called out, quickly recollecting herself.

Alexander's gaze flicked past her, landing on the man lying on the bed half-naked.

Alexander's expression darkened. He pushed the door open and stormed inside, completely missing the bitter herbal scent lingering in the room.

"So you are cheating on me?! Under my own roof?" Alexander's anger soared to the sky.

Laurel was taken aback by his sudden accusation and outburst. "I'm not cheating on you, and this is Mr. Lennox…"

"I don't care to know who he is. Wake him up right now and back your stuff and leave!"

Alexander's eyes burned with disappointment and pain. "I knew you were a manipulator, but I never expected you to be so cheap."

Laurel's eyes stung with tears. She had been carrying a name that wasn't hers all her life in her past life. But that would change now.

"Enough! This is my patient, Mr. Lennox. He is currently asleep because of the medication I gave him. If you don't believe me, why don't you look around before speaking?

And for so long you claim I slept my way to status. You said I drugged you, then why did you ask me to help you? I was only trying to help when you did it. If you didn't, why did you say you would take responsibility for your actions? Do you take me for a fool or what?" Laurel's hands trembled beside her, and she hated herself for even trying to love him.

Alexander froze. His mind blurred, what was she saying? Wasn't the one who poisoned him and took him to a room and had a one-night stand with him? Why is she saying something else now?

Before he could open his mouth to speak, Laurel beat him to it.

"I'm tired," she said quietly. "I'm tired of being accused of things I didn't do." Tears quietly streamed down her cheeks.

"You expect me to believe you?" Alexander said, his voice lower now.

Raphael cleared his throat awkwardly. "Boss… this does look like… medical treatment."

Alexander shot him a sharp glare, and Raphael quickly stepped back.

Alexander's jaw tightened. His eyes flicked towards the bed again. This time the man lying there looked weak and pale, nothing like the image he had seen earlier.

"Get out." Laurel suddenly said. "I want you to leave right now. My patient needs to rest." She said trying to sound as cold as Ling Xuan.

"This isn't over yet." Alexander turned around and stormed out of the room. Raphael followed behind, quickly matching his pace.

Laurel sighed deeply. "Ling Xuan," she called out.

"Yes." Ling Xuan answered flatly.

"Why didn't you say anything for so long?" Laurel asked… Maybe she needed someone to talk to.

"I was meditating. However, I couldn't because of your noise." Ling Xuan's voice turned sour.

"Okay, I'm only asking because I thought something happened to you." Laurel slowly wiped her tears off.

"Stop crying, it's annoying, you are ruining the face for me."

"There is nothing wrong with me crying, I'm sensitive and emotional. You should get used to it by now." Laurel sniffled, now she regretted even wanting to talk to her.
