Chapter 33 - 31 I’ll show him!

REN

I was seated behind the table in my room at Mr Lu's place. I was meeting Mr Zhen in almost two hours and currently, I was trying to jot down a few things to prepare myself for the evening ahead.

Mr Lu was in the kitchen making dinner. He was the one in charge of it because, let's be honest, only a fool would hand Xueya or myself a kitchen knife—a fool, or someone who'd want to make it look like an accident.

Xueya was still not talking to me. According to her father, she'd been avoiding the conversation ever since that night, and it was obvious from the way she always refused to come out of her room whenever I was around. If only I had Alpha-level strength to break down her door… or maybe I should try unscrewing it from the wall. Just to make her uncomfortable…

Anyway, Mr Lu didn't know about what I had found out, or why I was sitting in his house on a Saturday. And that was how I intended to keep it. I didn't need him getting all alarmed and ordering me to stand down or

whatever.

'-The web. Extremely powerful people

-Set ABO rules

-Mr Zhen is one of them.

-Who else is?

-Another crack of hope for me? Or more danger…'

I propped my head in my hands, staring into the wall after setting my pen down on the notebook I'd been writing on. Mr Lu entered a few seconds later, a tray of food in his hands. I immediately shut the book. If he saw my action, he didn't say anything.

Quickly, I pushed aside the clutter, making space on the table. Once he set it down, he turned to me with a sigh. "Xueya won't be

joining us today too." He scrunched up the napkins he was holding, causing the

veins on his hands to pop. Even at forty-something, Mr Lu was every bit the fit B-Gen Alpha who saved me years ago. And it wasn't like he worked out or anything… Lucky duck.

He smacked the napkin on one of the chairs, dropping onto it with a thud. "I guess it'll just be you and me, kid. She'll come out when she's hungry."

"Lu Ba,"

"Mmm?" He hummed, handing me a pair of chopsticks.

"Have you considered taking her door?" I asked, nodding with a serious face. He snorted when he understood what I meant, followed by rumbling of his stomach as he pressed his eyes shut in laughter.

"Taking her door…" he coughed out, "you know what? I might actually consider that." He said, messing with my freshly dyed hair. I hadn't styled it yet, so I didn't have a problem with it. I only joined him in a short laughter, before we proceeded to dive into our dinner.

"Lu Ba," I called, standing in front of my wardrobe with a towel around my waist. I'd just stepped out of the tanning machine, and my skin was still humming from the process.

"Yes?" He popped his head up from under my bed, where he was looking for my leather boots. I fished out yesterday's brown envelope from my tote bag, extending my hand towards him.

"Here." He dusted off his hand as he stood up.

"Gotta mop this area…" He muttered as he came for the envelope. "I'll add it to your account." He said while shoving it in his back

pocket.

I nodded in response, "Don't forget to take out your twenty percent." I added, and he rolled his eyes with a scoff.

"Hell will freeze over before I take your money, son."

"I knew you'd say that." I chuckled. "But give Xueya her cut." I added, and he nodded.

"Won't you take some, though? Doesn't look like you opened it"

"Nah, I have cash on me." He nodded again.

"Well then, your shoes are by your bed. I'll go get some clear polish and a mop." He hurried out of the room.

I pulled out a black racing jacket that I happened to have among my things—don't ask why—and a pair of black, loose jeans. I remembered the sound of the motorcycle from his phone, before Mr Zhen extended his 'invitation', so my guess was that, we were going to some kind of bike race, or bike show.

"Wear something less…less" I remembered

what he said last night, and I sneered.

How dare he comment on my outfit?! I was really going to show him!

I pulled on the pants, and grabbing a black v-neck top, I shrugged it on too, tucking it into the pants. Next was my jacket, I put that

on too.

I decided to gel my hair back to add some edge, leaving a few streaks at the front. I dabbed my lips with some peach-colored lip balm. Not forgetting my contacts and eye mask, I went with a leather one this time.

While I was getting ready, Mr Lu came back to give my white leather shoes a polish. I pulled them on. I gave myself one last look in the mirror, contemplating whether to go with a white or black tote bag.

"White one." I whipped around to raise a brow at Mr Lu.

"You sure?" I asked, and he nodded. "White one it is." I mumbled, tossing the black one onto the bed.
