Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Minami Hikari

Morning arrived without ceremony.

The sky above Tokyo stretched wide and unblemished, a cloudless blue sky, washed in gentle sunlight. Traffic flowed with a uniform rhythm, engines humming softly as pedestrians moved along the sidewalks.

Minami Hikari was one of them.

Dressed in a neatly pressed corporate uniform, her long black hair tied back neatly, she crossed the street with dozens of others. Her steps were steady, her expression distant—eyes dulled by years of repetition. Another morning. Another shift. Another day offered to a company that would never remember her name.

The pedestrian light flickered green.

She took one more step—

And the sky screamed.

A bolt of lightning tore through the clear blue sky , descending without warning or thunder. No storm. No sign of any kind. Just blinding fury ripping downward.

Minami never heard it.

The world vanished in a flash.

Darkness, accompanied by immersive pressure.

Minami awoke to suffocating confinement, her body pressed tightly from all sides. Something soft and heavy clung to her skin, resisting every breath she tried to draw. Panic surged through her chest as she struggled, limbs thrashing against an unseen barrier.

The thing surrounding her trembled.

Hairline fractures spread across it like growing vines , thin lines of pale light crawling across its surface in response to her distress. With a sound like silk tearing under strain, the shell began to split.

Cracks widened.

Light poured in.

The structure ruptured completely, unraveling into countless luminous strands as Minami fell forward, her body tumbling onto cold, polished ground.

She gasped.

Air rushed into her lungs as the remnants of the divine chrysalis dissolved into faint sparks of light, fading into nothingness behind her.

For several moments, she sat there trembling as she tried to catch her breath. she placed her hand over her chest , she felt her heart pounding.

Then she looked up.

She was inside a vast chamber bathed in soft radiance—walls of white marble traced with thin gold patterns . The room was unmistakably royal.

"Did I… get reincarnated as a princess?" Minami thought to herself.

Yet the space was disturbingly empty.

No servants---

No guards---

No signs of life.

As Minami tried to stand, something felt… wrong.

The floor seemed farther away than it should have been.

Her steps wobbled. Her balance faltered.

She raised her hands—and froze.

"Small."

They were far too small.

Her hands were soft and delicate, nothing like the ones she remembered. A chill ran down her spine as she staggered toward a tall mirror set into the wall.

The reflection staring back at her stole her breath.

A child.

A girl no older than seven, with silver hair falling past her shoulders and her pale blue eyes widened in disbelief. She wore a simple white nightgown, fabric loose against a fragile frame that felt utterly alien to her.

Minami reached up, touching her own face.

The reflection followed.

Shock hollowed her chest.

"No…" she whispered, her voice subtle

Her gaze drifted toward a massive door at the far end of the chamber. Stretching on tiptoe, she grasped the handle and pulled.

The door opened soundlessly.

Beyond it lay nothing.

A boundless expanse of white stretched in every direction, empty and absolute. As she stepped forward, words emerged before her—not etched into stone, nor displayed upon a screen, but imprinted directly into existence itself.

They burned gently into her vision.

Minami Hikari.

You have crossed mortality.

You have been reborn as a Class-G Goddess.

A bitter laugh escaped her lips.

"A low-ranked one at that. Holy shit," she muttered weakly. "I thought being reborn was supposed to be a relief… that's what all those fantasy mangas promised."

She fell on her knees in disbelief

"But this is way worse…"

The words continued.

You are the ruling deity of the world of Elythra .

Divine Authority: Restricted.

Minami stood frozen, mind reeling as the meaning pressed into her consciousness.

Class-G.

The lowest divine classification.

Weak. Incomplete. Barely acknowledged among supreme beings

As the text faded, a book manifested before her, floating silently in the air.

Its cover gleamed faintly, inscribed with runes she somehow understood.

The Codex of Ascendancy

When it opened, the pages revealed stark truths.

Goddess name: ???[Unassigned]

Divine Class: G

Ruling world rank: G-Class World

Granted Authority: World Portal

Special trait: Mirad Eyes

"I don't get it…" Minami whispered, fingers curling into her palms. "What did I do to deserve this? Is this some kind of sick joke?"

Silence answered her.

Her world.

With hesitant resolve, Minami reached out.

Space folded, tearing open like a thin membrane, revealing a forest drenched in dull green light.

She stepped through.

The moment her feet touched soil—

A goblin lunged from the underbrush.

Small. Filthy. Eyes blazing with hunger.

Minami stumbled back, heart racing as she fled through tangled bushes, thorns tearing at her skin.

Pain flared.

She tripped, scraping her knee against a jagged root.

The goblin closed in.

And in that moment—caught between rage and desperation—

Minami seized a broken wooden stick from the ground and swung with everything she had.

The impact was dull.

The goblin collapsed.

Silence followed.

Warmth flowed through her body—subtle, fleeting. As all her wounds where immediately healed.

"Haa..." She let out quietly

The Codex of Ascendancy opened on its own.

Life Essence absorbed: 1 unit.

Her gaze dropped to the page.

To ascend beyond Class-G—

Required Essence: 10,000,000 units.

Her hands trembled.

One goblin.

One essence.

Minami's eyes burned with fury as realization settled deep within her chest.

She was a goddess.

And she was powerless.

If ascension demanded blood, struggle, and time beyond counting—

Then she would endure it all.

Even if she had to crawl.
