Chapter 15 - He had gained extraordinary power!

Chapter 14 - He had gained extraordinary power!

The four goblins exploded and turned to ashes, leaving several finger sized fragments of purple Magic Stone scattered on the ground.

Lain crouched down, picked up the magic stone fragments, and put them in his pocket. He didn't lack valis, but this was the reward for his first monster kill.

Magic stones are the core of monsters and their source of power, so attacking taking out magic stones is the most effective way to defeat monsters. The Guild collects these fragments and uses the energy within them to create various convenient items.

Soon, the wall bulged slightly.

Several more monsters jumped out. There are only two types of monsters on the 1st Floor of the Dungeon: Goblins and Kobolds, which can be easily dealt with by level 1 adventurers.

Moreover, Lain wielded the iron sword, worth hundreds of thousands of Valis, making his fight on the 1st Floor seem like he was cheating.

There were no tricks; it was all about the stats!

After spending more than half an hour getting used to the monsters on the 1st Floor, Lain went down the corridor and quickly broke through to the 2nd Floor, where the environment was no different from the first.

He heard a faint sound coming from above.

Lain looked up and saw a lizard on the ceiling, staring at him with its blood-red eyes.

The monster, a Dungeon Lizard, has rough brown skin, a horizontally split mouth, and a long, thin tongue protruding from its mouth. Its entire body is about 1.5 meters long. It is a type of monster that appears on the 2nd to 4th Floors and is classified as a low level monster, similar to Goblins or Kobolds.

Whoosh!

The Dungeon Lizard quickly crawled in front of Lain, opened its mouth, and thrust its tongue toward his head like a spear.

Lain tilted his head to the side, dodging the attacking tongue, and thrust his sword wielding right hand forward. The blade easily pierced the lizard's rough skin and penetrated its body.

The Dungeon Lizard shattered, and fragments of the stone fell.

Relying on the sharpness of the sword, he almost ignored the defenses of the monsters, slaying them with a single strike. Lain shook his head and smiled; he now understood the saying that overly powerful equipment could create dependency.

However, in the Dungeon, it would be truly foolish to leave powerful equipment unused.

Lain continued on.

After killing more than a dozen dungeon lizards and goblins, Lain successfully entered the 3rd Floor.

The Dungeon was unusually quiet; conversations and footsteps were amplified. Whenever Lain encountered adventurers along the way, he would put away his sword in advance.

One should not flaunt one's wealth. Although those in the upper floors were mostly rookies, it was still difficult to guarantee that others wouldn't have ulterior motives.

[Strength: I (0) \ I (5)]

[Endurance: I (0) \I (8)]

At that moment, two panels popped up in front of Lain, and a smile appeared on his face.

He figured his attributes should be improving as well.

The way to improve abilities could be described as targeted behavior. For example, Endurance improves more the more you get hit, injured, or stressed. Similarly, running and grip training will improve Agility and Strength.

Killing nearly twenty monsters only resulted in a total stat increase of 13, so it wasn't entirely Lain's fault.

With Agility at C (600), the improvement from killing these small monsters was negligible. Dexterity, on the other hand, is a skill based stat; Lain was wielding the sword and one shotting monsters the whole time, so there was no way he could improve his Dexterity significantly yet.

Lain was not discouraged. He didn't need gods to update his status. After killing monsters, his stats could be updated in rea time. This alone gave him a huge advantage over other adventurers.

The deeper you go in the Dungeon, the larger the space becomes.

When Lain entered the 5th Floor, there was a noticeable change compared to the 1st Floor. The passages became wider, like a maze, with many diverging paths, and the frequency of encountering other adventurers began to decrease.

BANG!

The wall shattered, and seven or eight War Shadows jumped out. They were about 1.6 meters tall, covered in fur, with sharp teeth and claws, and stood on two legs. Compared to the previous monsters, these War Shadows were armed with weapons.

Lain's eyes turned fervent.

Rumble!

These monsters showed no fear of death and charged forward with the force of a thousand troops.

Lain felt a surge of pressure. Strictly speaking, this was his first real battle; the previous instant kills couldn't even be called battles.

WHOOSH!

The lead War Shadow was the first to reach Lain, smashing a weapon toward his head with a whistling sound.

Lain raised the sword and slashed it head on.

The bisected War shadow exploded, and fragments of magic stone fell.

The instant kill of one monster did not frighten the others; instead, the monsters's grew even more ferocious, and they attacked from both sides.

Despite his limited combat experience, Lain knew he couldn't leave his back to the monsters. He kept retreating, always keeping the monsters in front of him.

Lain gripped the hilt of his sword tightly and, with a wide sweep, easily killed two War Shadows.

Just then, a War shadow suddenly darted out from the shadows.

Lain was startled and instinctively stepped back, raising his arm to block.

A flash of cold light appeared.

The War Shadow's claws sliced a shallow gash in Lain's hand, and blood splattered out.

A sharp pain shot through Lain's brain, instantly bringing him to his senses, and his survival instinct surged forth.

Lain raised his sword and plunged it into the War Shadow's chest. It seemed to have hit something solid, and the War Shadow's body stiffened, then exploded, scattering fragments.

"Damn you!"

Lain cursed under his breath.

He was too hasty in allocating the 600 attribute points he gained from defeating Douma. He should have allocated them to both Agility and Dexterity.

Simply put, high Agility only allows you to dash in a straight line. To flexibly dodge monster attacks and retaliate in battle, you need to combine it with Dexterity.

The War Shadow attacked suddenly, and because his Dexterity was too low, he was unable to dodge the attack.

Lain quickly recovered his composure; after all, he could get a lot of attribute points by grinding dungeons and killing monsters.

This kind of failure could also be considered a good experience.

"Roar!"

The remaining four or five war shadows let out a low growl and pounced on Lain frantically, their sharp teeth and claws serving as weapons to tear the intruder apart.

Seeing this, Lain showed no fear.

His adrenaline surged, and Lain licked the blood from his arm wound. The strong, metallic taste of blood filled his mouth and shot straight to the top of his head. The stimulation from the pain made his mind exceptionally clear.

The excitement continued to rise.

Only at this moment did Lain feel that everything around him was real.

He had gained extraordinary power!
