Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 : Restarting the Communication System

After going over some more details and ensuring there would be no mistakes, Alex brought Father Tina back to the Players.

"God Chosen, through my efforts, Priest Oz Tina has agreed to provide you with weapon maintenance and bionic enhancements."

"At the same time, she will also issue various missions to you, and upon completion, you will likewise earn Contribution Points."

"In a while, she will list a detailed inventory."

"By then, you will only need to have enough Contribution Points to purchase the items and enhancements on the list."

Hearing Alex's words, the Players immediately showed excitement.

"Are bionic enhancements finally being released?"

"I can't wait!"

"I knew hoarding Contribution Points would be useful."

"I want to become the Warhammer 40k version of Adam Smasher; I want to be a Cyberpsycho."

"I want to replace my little brother with an Adamantium version, plus a piston drive."

"This guy seems to have been corrupted by Slaanesh; requesting Exterminatus."

"As expected of the game touted as the most realistic, even opening a bionic shop requires finding an NPC first."

"Yeah, so many times I thought this was the real world."

"…"

Tina looked at the excited Players.

She couldn't understand why they were so happy.

Isn't it just providing them with weapon maintenance and bionic enhancements?!

She always felt these guys were a bit like Green Skins, abnormally optimistic.

But looking at Alex beside her, Tina suppressed the confusion in her heart.

As a devout believer, there should be no doubt about the omnissiah's arrangements.

Doubt breeds betrayal.

Betrayal brings pain.

She only needed to firmly believe in the omnissiah's wisdom.

After the Players discussed for a while, Alex spoke again.

"The communication system of Lykard Space Station is offline due to traitorous sabotage, making it impossible to contact the surface, and we don't know the situation there."

"What we need to do now is find a way to reclaim Lykard Space Station, restart the communication system, and establish contact with the surface."

Alex demonstrated to Tina how to issue missions to the God Chosen.

This was very simple.

First, assess the mission difficulty and required time, then provide appropriate Contribution Points as incentive.

For Tina, a Mechanical Priest whose brain had been enhanced, this was not difficult at all.

Tina issued her first mission to the Players.

"Restarting Lykard Space Station's Communication System"

When the rebellion broke out, Cultists attacked Lykard Space Station's main system with a virus payload.

This caused the entire space station to be paralyzed.

The communication system was also attacked by virus code.

To restore the communication system, the virus code problem must first be resolved.

Tina gave Alex a code override device shaped like a human skull.

"Just connect the device to the communication array's main console, and the sacred program inside will automatically run."

"It will overwrite the obsolete code with blessed code, activate the augury array, and get the communication system running again."

"This process will take some time; you must protect the device from being damaged."

"Reclaiming Sector Y-107 H has already made the traitors in the space station wary."

"Those traitors will definitely send elites and try their best to prevent you from restoring communications."

Tina paused, organized her words, and then continued.

"As long as you can restore the communication station's operation and expel the virus payload, I will immediately take over that area's weapon systems and assist you in escaping."

Alex nodded, "Don't worry, we will successfully complete the mission."

Taking the skull device, Alex led the Players directly to the communication station.

They swiftly eliminated the Cultists and Plague Zombies along the way.

He inserted the skull device into the communication station's main console, rewriting its code program.

Their actions caught the attention of the Cultists.

The enemy quickly organized a group of Cultists, driving Plague Zombies, intending to reclaim the communication station.

A fierce battle erupted around the communication station, becoming quite intense at one point.

Bang! Bang!

Boom!

"Fire in the hole!"

"Smoking bomb!"

Dense laser fire and bullets rained down across the entire battlefield.

"For the Emperor, hold on!"

Alex continuously activated the skills [Roar] and [Prayer] to boost the Players' morale and combat power.

Then, he raised his Boltgun and fired.

Bang!

Several Cultists who rushed in were shot dead, exploding into a pile of shattered flesh.

At this moment, a golden light screen appeared.

"Congratulations, you gained experience!"

"Level LV7 -> LV8"

"Skill Learned: Warp Sense (Allows you to perceive the ethereal fluctuations of the Warp)"

"Skill Learned: Aura of Reason (Forcibly makes nearby friendly units overcome negative states such as fear, despair, Black Rage, and Blood Thirst, forcefully restoring sanity)"

"I leveled up to eight so quickly!"

"Warp Sense is a prerequisite skill for psychic abilities; if I reach Level Nine, I should have psychic skills."

"The Faith Points accumulated during this time have finally found their use."

Alex felt a bit emotional.

From the Players' first login until now, only a few days had passed, and he had already reached Level Eight.

The psychic skills he had longed for were also within reach.

The Warhammer 40k version of Gandalf was about to emerge.

Outside the communication station.

"Defeat the False Emperor's pawns, brothers, continue the charge!"

"The great Father Nurgle watches over us; every sacrificed hero will enter His Eternal Garden, forever free from all suffering, eternally happy and joyful."

Lanos, the Cultist leader, watched the battlefield with a crazed expression, urging his subordinates to charge.

His incitement made the Cultists go mad.

They rushed forward with Lasguns and Autoguns.

"Come on, let me show you what I can do."

From the makeshift position, Little Fatty controlled a multi-barreled heavy Lasgun, firing wildly.

The barrels spun rapidly, emitting a buzzing sound.

Lasers poured out like a torrential storm.

Any Cultist who dared to show their head was riddled with holes.

However, there were also trained snipers among the Cultists.

Accompanied by the whistling sound of lasers cutting through the air.

A charred wound appeared on Little Fatty's head.

He reached up and touched it.

"It's over, I have to revive again."

With that, he died.

Without heavy fire support, the Players' firepower instantly weakened significantly.

The Cultists seized the opportunity and rushed in.

"For the Emperor!"

Seeing the Cultists about to break through the defense line, Sea Turtle rushed forward with a meltabomb.

Boom!

The meltabomb exploded, and the rushing Cultists and Sea Turtle were blown to pieces together.

Another Player pushed Little Fatty's corpse aside at this moment, taking his place.

He continued to pour fire into the entrance, preventing the Cultists from entering.

"Are these guys crazy?! So reckless!"

Lanos's face darkened as he saw the explosion at the communication station entrance.

The people inside clearly had no intention of leaving alive.

"Keep charging! No matter what, we must retake the communication station!"

Lanos also became ruthless, ordering his subordinates to continue the assault.

The battle between the two sides grew increasingly fierce.

The number of Players continuously decreased, while the Cultists and Plague Zombies flowed like a tide, wave after wave.

Boom!

After another Player embraced a meltabomb and perished with the rushing Cultists.

Ding!

A crisp notification sound came from the main console.

"Praise the omnissiah!"

The skull device, having completed its work, opened its mouth and uttered a prayer.

Code overwrite complete.

The communication station's Thinker System restarted.

"Guide, I will now take over the battlefield; the weapon systems have been activated. It's time to let these guys know the price of betraying the Imperium."

Father Tina's voice rang in Alex's ear.

The previously silent auto-cannons were activated, sweeping across the Cultists.

They fell in droves like mown wheat.

"Charge out and kill all those guys!"

Alex shouted, leading the Players out of the communication station, shooting down the still-breathing Cultists and Plague Zombies.

Lanos, as the leader, also couldn't escape and had his head blown off by Alex's shot.
