There was one thing Simon forgot to consider when he attacked the Velari.
Artifacts
Or to be more specific... armours.
Simon had not considered that the robe the Velari wore had defensive capabilities, and he would not even be able to cut through it with his power.
He could not be blamed for this despite his experience because robes were mere clothes to him in his past life.
Even though a robe possessed defensive capabilities, it was never sturdy enough to prevent his sword from cutting it.
Because of this mentality, and also because of his weak strength, he could not even cut through the robe.
A dark light flashed at the point of contact between his sword and the robe, and he was even forced to take several steps back in the end.
'Demonic Energy.'
Simon's gaze was extremely dark as he stared at the flickering dark light that was slowly going out.
The dark light was the Velari's demonic energy he had imbued in the robe, and aside from the high quality of the robe, the demonic energy was the main reason Simon could not cut through it.
'I need demonic energy to be able to cut through demonic energy, and that was what I was trying to avoid.'
'This guy is not even bothering to coat himself with demonic energy because I'm an unawakened demon kid, and although cutting through his neck might be difficult, I should be able to do it with my new strength and my skills with the sword.'
'But once he coats his body with demonic energy, I won't be able to cut him or deal a lot of damage to him unless I have demonic energy or I increase my physical strength to a higher degree again.'
'This is bad. Very bad.'
'I couldn't kill him why he was caught off guard. Now he's going to be wary of me.'
As Simon had these thoughts, explosions rocked the ground he stood on and then hot gusts of wind blew into his face.
He quickly looked at the source of the explosions, and his eyes widened slightly.
"Zaglur has this much power?"
Simon muttered as he stared at the massive flaming tornado that was dangerously close to him.
'I need to distance myself.'
But the moment Simon had this thought, a chill spread across his back, and his absurd reflexes instantly reacted.
However...
"Where do you think you're going, ant?"
An extremely cold voice drifted into Simon's ears, and Simon instantly looked at his shoulder which was being held by the Velari.
He was about to move, but the Velari instantly grabbed his neck and lifted him off the ground with immense ease.
Simon's eyes bulged and he kicked the air while clawing at the Velari's hand with veins on his neck.
He could not breathe, and he was dying.
In the next moment, he landed four rapid successive kicks on the Velari's chest, but it did nothing.
The Velari's robe emitted a dark light as the Velari's demonic energy blocked all of Simon's kicks.
Simon groaned with cold eyes, then he swung his sword at the Velari's hand.
However...
"Ant."
The Velari said coldly, and before Simon knew it, the Velari's shadow suddenly moved.
Hands shot out of the shadow and grabbed his right arm, and in the next moment.
Crack!
Snap!
Clang!
"HMMMMM!!!"
Simon kicked and writhed in the Velari's grip, and his sword fell to the ground.
His right arm was a shadow of what it was. It was now broken and bent backward, and his flesh was also twisted.
Simon was in so much pain that he wanted to scream out loud, but he couldn't.
The Velari was holding his neck too tight, and Simon could barely make a sound.
As Simon struggled to get used to the pain in this new body, a strange and unexplainable emotion washed over him.
For some reason, he thought he would be able to kill the Velari in some way and survive.
Back on Earth, he always found a way even in the most precarious situations. He always had that belief, but now...
Now... it seemed he was going to die.
His dominant sword wielding arm was no more, and he was being held by a Greater Demon while his only other hope was a broke Merchant who was also facing three assassins in the same realm.
How could he win?
How did he even expect to defeat a Greater Demons as an unawakened demon?
'This is the demon world. I'm a demon. This is a just like an insanely higher difficulty game where survival would be an achievement.'
'I need to stop believing that there would always be a way to survive when there might not be.'
'This is the demon realm. Not Earth. I'm a nobody in the demon realm and I don't have the support of a demon king, a demon god, or the support of the world.'
'When I gained the Hero class on Earth, I was favoured by the world. There is no such thing for me in the demon realm.'
'I...I might actually die.'
Simon was beginning to lose consciousness, and there was no more fight in him. But before he could completely lose consciousness, the Velari let go of Simon, causing him to fall on the ground with a loud thud.
GASP!
COUGH!
COUGH!
COUGH!
Simon coughed out blood mixed with spit as he struggled to gasp for air.
His vision was blurry, but then a slap resounded in his ear, causing his head to nearly perform a 360°.
"Answer me, ant. Did you absorb the Devourer's blood essence? Who are you? And why do you have so much killing intent for a kid your age?"
Simon struggled for breath while having to bear the sting on his face.
He subconsciously tried to raise his right hand to touch his cheek, but immense pain shot through his body and he jolted.
Pa!
"Answer me ant."
Another slap landed on Simon's cheek, exactly on the same spot, and Simon coughed out a mouthful of blood.
Simon's vision blurred and wobbled, and just as he was finally able to breathe and his vision became clearer, he sensed something that shook him.
His head snapped in the direction of Zaglur.
'Divinity?'
