Chapter 5 - Sword Lesson

10 Minutes Later—

The students from Class E stood in a straight line at the northern training ground, each line having 10 students while the others created another line on the side.

The training ground was spacious, approximately the size of 3 basketball courts in a square area, it was enough to fit in many students as the training ground includes many facilities such as training dummies, wooden swords, and even other weapons.

Surrounded with the academy's garden and the many trees that had been planted, the view there felt more like a scenery rather than a school.

Heimfher unfortunately had to stand at the forefront in one of the line, he stood there for a while until the teacher from before arrived and walked infront of them, he then threw 5 wooden swords to the floor and placed one of his hand on the sword at his waist as he spoke.

"Okay, we're going to start with the outdoor lesson, everyone is here? Good." He said calmly, behind him was 5 training dummies made out of wood that could be rotated horizontally.

"Today's lesson is the same as last week, you will take turns in attacking this dummies with whatever sword techniques you may have, i'll see if there's any improvement. Since i only explained about sword aura one hour ago, you don't need to use it, i doubt you even know how, so don't embarrass yourself—

"From this point onwards, we will move to the next curriculum, which is sword aura, everyone in the higher class had already learned this, and you're all the last one, so make sure to work hard."

As soon as the teacher was done with his explanation, everyone that was standing then nodded while quietly agreeing with him, Heimfher wasn't an exclusion, he doesn't have a choice but to follow the lesson as this was also one of the ways that he could use to learn more about how this world works.

'It hasn't even been half a day since i woke up in this world, and now im already have to work my ass off in a swordmanship academy..' Heimfher scoffed in his mind.

The teacher soon ordered his students to sit down and called everyone that was at the front of each line, and one of that student was Heimfher.

Heimfher followed the others, he stood up all alone in his line and walked closer to his teacher along with the other students that was beside him. They then was told to grab one of the wooden swords and use it for attacking the training dummies.

"Stand there and wait for my signal" The teacher said quietly.

Heimfher soon walked towards one of the training dummy and stand before it, he waited while occasionally turning his head to see his teacher.

The other students were watching the 5 students that was standing infront of them, their gaze changed from one person to another, but it was obvious from their eye movement that they were focusing on Heimfher more than anyone else.

"You can start.." The teacher was preparing to give the signal to start. "Now."

CLACK!

Immediately, the sound of wood hitting each other was heard echoing throughout the open space, the students enthusiastically watched as their classmate swung their wooden swords vigorously to the wooden dummies, they attacked, and the training dummies began to rotate, its stationary arms almost hit one of the student's face but he managed to avoid it.

Meanwhile, Heimfher was having a hard time by himself, he was seen swinging the wooden sword, but his attack looked shallow and slow, the training dummy barely rotates with each of his attacks, Heimfher tried to stab, but his sword blade slides to the side and it made him almost lose his balance.

'Shit!! How the fuck are they so fast!?' Heimfher thought to himself, he was starting to grit his teeth in frustration and threw in more power onto his attack, he sacrificed his stamina for more power and because of that, his attack began to feel heavier and the dummy also started to rotate more than before.

CLACK!

CLACK!

CLACK!....

"Hey.. was Heimfher always this bad with swordmanship?.." A student that was sitting in one of the line asked his friend.

"I have no idea, he's always like that, though– Now that i focused more on him, his technique does look more shabby and atrocious than yesterday.." His friend answered while squinting his eyes towards Heimfher.

The teacher kept his eyes on the students, he glanced at each of them as they swung their sword endlessly, then he looked at Heimfher, his face was sweaty and his hand already shaken up by the fatigue. Not wanting to cause any problems, the teacher decided to tell the students to stop.

"Alright, you can stop." He said.

Heimfher heard his teacher's order and instantly froze his body, his sword was only a few milimeters away from the training dummy as he was trying to swing it for the last time earlier. He then fixed his posture and walked to his teacher with the other students.

Heimfher placed the wooden sword back on the floor and bowed, the teacher then complimented his students for their effort.

"Good work, next!" He said while calling for the next group.

As Heimfher walked to his previous spot in the line, he saw the other students that weren't called yet chuckled at his swordmanship, some of them were covering their mouth, while others only gave Heimfher a cold gaze.

'I never even held a sword before.. How am i suppose to know any techniques.. You think i could use a sword the same as an anime protagonist?!' Heimfher thought, he wanted to shout, but dismissed it as that would be a bad idea.

'Haahh, atleast if i get reincarnated in someone's body, let me inherit their skills and talents, even if its minuscule.. In the first place, can i just leave the academy and go wherever i want now? The previous Heimfher is already dead so.. Would it really matter?—

'...Ugh, even if i tried, i feel bad for Heimfher's mother and his siblings, im sure they'd be heartbroken if they found out that their oldest son just killed himself.. And if i leave this city, the outcome wouldn't be any different.'

Heimfher kept sinking deeper into his own thoughts, unbothered by everything around him as if his body was on autopilot, he didn't notice the time passing by so quickly, the outdoor lesson soon ended, and Heimfher was led back to his classroom, where he then received another lesson about history and the city's government, at which point it ended aswell, leaving Heimfher on his own as it was the time to go home.

.

.

A few hours later, 15:00—

On a street called the Nerphen, Heimfher walked among the passerby at the side, he was heading back home from the academy, his eyes looked tired and his stomach kept growling, begging for food as he passed by a food vendor. It's alluring smell was dangerous, Heimfher unconsciously dragged himself towards the vendor until he realized what was happening and quickly ran away.

'Aghh!!! Damnit! What should i do!! I don't have any money to buy food.. I can last probably until tomorrow, but if i don't receive any money soon, i'll surely be dead..' Heimfher scratched his head multiple times, expressing his anger and also hopelessness as he ran out of ideas on what he should do.

'Should i search for a job? But then, i won't be able to attend the academy.. Is there even a job here that works at night? Unlike the modern earth where night time jobs are as common as day time job.. This world is still lacking in technologies, though i've seen a clock and some mechanical machines before, its far from the standard..'

Heimfher was about to lose his mind thinking about the future, he ignored everything around him, even if someone was staring at him, Heimfher didn't care and just kept walking, his mind was way too heavy for him to look around and notice anyone.

That was, until Heimfher was pulled into a dark alleyway hidden between two houses that he finally came to his senses again.

SSRTT!!

"H- huh!?" Heimfher was startled by the pair of hands that pulled him unexpectedly.

A wave of anxiety quickly rushed into his body as Heimfher was thrown into a dim, narrow area with a garbage bin at the side.

Thud!

Heimfher opened his eyes to see three shadowy figures standing infront of him, each of them having a smile that he could immediately tell that it wasn't filled with good intent.

"You!.." Heimfher's eyes widened when he saw the person that had just pulled him into the alleyway.

It was Cadriel and his underlings, the three of them looked proud at what they did and Cadriel even stepped on Heimfher's shoes to assert his dominance over him.

"What a coincidence huh, i didn't expect to meet you here, Heimfher." Cadriel said in a playful tone.

Realizing that Cadriel was most likely planning something, Heimfher became cautious and glanced around for anything that might look unnatural, because based on his memories, Cadriel had always been the mischievous person that will put a trap for anyone he deems fun.

"Cadriel.. What do you want." Heimfher responded with a frown, he wasn't scared, but rather frustrated at the fact that he won't be able to beat him no matter how hard he tried.

Seeing how Heimfher didn't show his usual face when meeting him, Cadriel then widened his smile.
