(This town, Atami.)
I do not know much about myself.. Then there is myself, who I know nothing about.
I often wonder who I really am. Was I really drawn to this place by some kind of force? I think about this a lot and I am still trying to figure out the answer, to the question of who I am. The question of what brought me is also something that I really think about and I am still trying to understand if it was really some mysterious force that drew me to this place.
"So what do you pick?" a voice echoed throughout the room. Fumi was sitting on the couch holding a toy robot made of plastic in his left hand and a really cute teddy bear that was very soft in his right hand.
"Well I do not know what to say" Fumi said, his eyes kept going from the teddy bear to the robot and back, to the teddy bear again.
"Just pick the toy robot or the teddy bear, man" the voice said again. Fumi was still looking at the toy robot and the teddy bear.
Next to Fumi was a man who was probably around the age as Fumi. This man was sitting on the couch. He was slouching down really low. He had one arm hanging over the back of the couch. He looked like a kid you know like he never really became a grown up. The man was wearing a cap with a big white letter "C" on it. The cap was sitting low on his head. You could see his dark hair sticking out from under the cap. It was all messy. His face did not look rough it just looked like it had been around, for a while. He had a bit of stubble on his jaw and he always seemed to have a bit of a crooked smile on his face.
The guy had on a dark blue jacket with blue stripes. It was pretty big, on him. He wore it over a coloured T-shirt and some casual dark jeans. His shoes were really worn out. Had lots of scratches on them. He had a chain that went from his belt to his pocket and it made a soft noise when he moved around. The guy also had headphones hanging from his belt. It looked like he wanted to keep them close by at all times. He had blue jacket on and it seemed like he was used to wearing it with his dark jeans and light coloured T-shirt.
Fumi replied that he would probably have to choose the teddy bear. He put down the toy robot because his hands were a sore, from holding it for so long. The toy robot was not very comfortable to hold. "What? You do not want the cool robot?" the guy said. "Man you are really something. I can tell we will be great friends." The guy patted Fumis back. "By the way I am Gumpei Kuma " he said. "Your name is Fumi, right?" Fumi thought the guy was pretty funny. He liked Gumpei Kuma already. Fumi liked the teddy bear because it was soft and cute. The teddy bear was a lot nicer to hold than the toy robot. The man said "Nice to meet you." He tapped Fumis back with his hand. Fumi said "Yeah in response. The man was being friendly, to Fumi. Fumi was talking to the man.
A nice laugh filled the room. This guy, who looked 20 years old was sitting across from Fumi and Gumpei. He had his arms crossed and one leg was resting on the other. Fumi and Gumpei looked at him. "Do not pay attention to him he can be a lot to handle" the guy said with an friendly smile. He was talking about himself and his smile made him seem like a person. Fumi and Gumpei were looking at this guy, who was still smiling at them.
The man sat there looking very confident. He had messy yellow hair that was all over the place it was like he had just come out of the sun and did not even bother to brush it. His eyes were really sharp. They also looked kind of lazy at the same time. The mans eyes were the kind that made you think he had seen a lot of things. He was not going to tell you about them unless you really wanted to know. He had his jacket hanging loose over his shoulders and his red shirt was a bit open it was like he did not really care about following the rules they were just a suggestion, to him. The chains and the metal caught my eye it was not an accident it seemed like he wanted people to notice him. He had a way of making the chains and the metal shine, a little bit so people would look at him. The chains and the metal were really eye catching. I think he did it on purpose.
Ren Kagami said, I am happy to meet you. I hope Ren Kagami and you can get along well. He was. He looked very friendly.
Then a voice came from upstairs saying Now now settle down Gumpei. A lady, who looked like she was 19 years old walked down the stairs with Kawakami.
This woman has long and straight pink hair that goes down to the middle of her back. It is all one piece. It looks nice. She has bangs that are cut across her forehead. They make a frame for her face. It looks very neat and serious. Her face is serious too. Her eyes are steady. She looks like she is paying attention to something. She is standing up straight like she is trying to show posture. Her arms are. She is wearing a top that does not have any sleeves. The top looks like it is good for doing things in not for looking good. The woman looks like she means business. She is wearing this top and standing like that and it looks like she is ready, for something. She has a choker around her neck. It is not fancy or anything. A short skirt falls at her waist. This skirt is held up by a belt. The belt has a chain on it. The chain is more for holding things than, for looking good. She is also wearing boots. These boots are solid. They work well. It seems like she put her clothes on because she needs them not because she wants to look nice. She dressed for a reason not to look good.
My name is Yuki Mamakato. It is nice to meet you she said, shaking Fumis hand firmly.
Now that we are all here except for Yubara Nobachi I think Yubara Nobachi is sleeping.
Yuki Mamakato said, turning her head to face the stairs.
We should start the tour of Yuki Mamakatos place now that you are all settled in.
Yuki Mamakato said this to everyone, in the room.
Fumi said "Sure". Then got up from the couch really slowly.
Now that Fumi is standing up the room looks different to Fumi.
The room is bigger than Fumi thought it was when Fumi was sitting on the couch.
There are couches around the room they are not too close to each other they are in a circle around a low table.
The kitchen is through that way it is open. Nobody is standing there to stop people from going in.
The house seems like a place where people can just walk in and, out of the kitchen whenever Fumi or anyone else wants to without having to think about it much.
Gumpei says "This is the floor". Then he drops back onto the couch. One arm hangs over the backrest. He does this like he has done it times before. Gumpei says about the floor that this is where everyone ends up eventually. Gumpei thinks the floor is pretty important because he says "This is where everyone ends up eventually" about the floor.
Fumi walks toward the kitchen. He takes a look at the counters and the cabinets. The fridge is making a noise. There are a lot of magnets and notes over the fridge. These notes are really old it looks like people forgot they were there. Fumi says "It feels like a place where people talk more than they cook." He is talking about the kitchen.
The kitchen seems like a place where people do not cook that much. Fumi thinks that people talk a lot in the kitchen. Fumi looks at the kitchen. He gets the feeling that the kitchen is where people go to talk. The kitchen is not really a place for cooking it is a place, for talking that is what Fumi thinks about the kitchen.
Ren says that is true. He leans against the counter with his arms crossed. He looks really relaxed but at the same time he is also paying attention to what is going on. People have meals at this place.
Most of the time people will start talking at this place. Then they will finish their conversation somewhere else like they do not want to talk too much here. Ren and the meals, at this place are really something that people like to do.
The dining table is all the way over, to the side. It is not really a table because the surface is not even. The chairs are pulled out. They are not straight. It looks like the people who used the dining table last did not bother to push the chairs in.
Gumpei points to the dining table without looking at the dining table. "Do not trust the dining table when you are playing board games" Gumpei says. "The dining table has a history" he says. The dining table is not a table to play on because the dining table can be tricky. Gumpei knows this about the dining table.
They walk away from the lounge. Go up the stairs.
The noise from the floor gets really quiet with each step they take.
The second floor has an atmosphere.
The atmosphere on the floor is heavy.
The hallway on the floor is really long. It has a lot of doors.
The doors on the floor seem special because they are private doors.
You do not know what the second floor doors are hiding behind each of the doors.
The second floor doors seem personal, to whoever has one of the private doors.
Ren says that this floor is for the rooms. The rooms are like a place where people can go when they really need to be by themselves. Sometimes people just want to be alone. They come to the rooms on this floor. The rooms are where people go to get away from everything, including the rooms on floors and just be in the rooms. People like to disappear into the rooms when they need some space to think and the rooms on this floor are perfect, for that because they are the rooms.
Gumpei knocks on one door with his knuckles then he knocks on another door. He says "Mine". Then he says "And not mine". Gumpei wants to know if you can guess which door you should avoid.
He is talking about the door that Gumpei said is "not mine". Gumpei thinks you should stay away, from the "not mine" door, the one that belongs to someone the door that Gumpei did not say is his, the "not mine" door. Gumpei wants you to avoid the "not mine" door.
Fumi stops in front of a door that's near the end of the hall. This door is really plain. You do not see any decorations on the Fumi door. There is no name on the Fumi door either. Fumi opens the door slowly and Fumi steps, inside the room. The Fumi room is simple. The Fumi room is clean. The Fumi room feels like something is missing. It feels like the Fumi room is waiting for something to make the Fumi room feel complete. The room does not feel complete. It is like the room is waiting for some things to be put into it. Then it will feel like a room. Fumi is in the room now. The room feels like it is waiting for Fumi to do something in the room. Fumi being, in the room is what the room is waiting for.
Fumi says that the feeling is not going to last. Fumi is standing near the doorway.
Ren watches him closely. He tells Ren that most of the rooms in this place are, like that when they start out.
They walk out. Climb the last set of stairs. Soon as the door opens the air is different. The third floor is really big and open. The ceiling is so high that the third floor feels weird. There is equipment, along the walls. The equipment is old. It looks like people take care of the equipment. There are mirrors that reflect the floor back over and over again showing the third floor from many angles.
Gumpei says "This is the gym". The gym is a room, with lots of space. Gumpei has a loud voice. You can actually hear his voice bouncing off the walls.
Gumpei says "This is the gym where people come" and he also says "when they need to do something and just thinking about it is not enough". So the gym is the place people go to when they really need to take action and do something about it. The gym is where people go to take action.
Fumi steps inside and the room feels heavy around him. It is a serious place. There are punching bags hanging from the ceiling. They are not moving all. The floor has mats over it. You can tell that a lot of people have worked out here. They have gotten really angry with themselves. Fumi can feel the weight of all the work that people have done in this room. He can feel the frustration that people have felt when they were, in this room. The room is filled with the frustration of people who have tried hard. Fumi is surrounded by the feeling of people working and getting frustrated. The punching bags and mats are reminders of all the effort that people have put in here.
Fumi says that the thing feels really heavy. Fumi thinks that this thing is very heavy. When Fumi holds the thing it feels like it is full of weight. The thing is so heavy that Fumi has trouble lifting it up. Fumi is surprised, at how heavy the thing is. The thing is really weighing Fumi down.
Ren nods. "That means the thing has a purpose." becomes
Ren nods. The thing has a reason, for being that means the thing has a purpose.
Fumi stands there for a moment in silence. The house feels different now. It is not a place that Fumi does not know. At the time the house is not a place that Fumi fully understands either. Fumi looks back toward the stairs. Then Fumi looks forward again taking in everything, about the house. Fumi is trying to get used to the house. The house is a place that Fumi is still getting to know. Fumi looks around the house again trying to remember everything. Fumi wants to know the house.
He says this softly. I think I finally understand the thing now.
This house feels like a hotel to me. Is it a mansion? Fumi said this with a smile on her face and she sounded really excited. Then she heard this: I like what you said but it is not a hotel and it is not a mansion. The house is big not big like a mountain or anything. The house is 157 meters away, from the college that we go to. My parents have a lot of properties. They are letting us use this house for now. Fumi said "That is really convenient." He. You can still see the excitement, on his face from before.
Yuki says to Fumi "It is time we have a chat." She puts her hands on her hips. Fumi says "A chat?" in a tone. Yuki says "Yes, a chat. Do not worry you are not, in trouble or anything. This is something to do with your body." Fumi asks "My body?" Yuki says "Yes, your body. You have noticed it too have you not Fumi? Your body I mean. Yuki tells him that his body can do something. He says not to worry because thiss totally normal. Everyone who lives in this house has something, like this too. Yuki says "the thing your body can do is called an Inertia."
Fumi says "You are talking about inertia?"
"Yes. 0.001% of the population has one."
