'Fumi, wake up. Fumi. Fu~mi. Wake up!'
A female voice called my name. All I see it black, but why? I hear a female's voice calling my name. I'm certain of it, my name is Fumi. This lady is calling my name! I suddenly awoke to the sensation of a damp, concrete floor beneath my figure. I don't remember a thing.
I need to breathe. That is the thing I tell myself because if I do not my chest feels like it is going to lock up. The floor under me is cold and damp. It is definitely not somewhere I am supposed to be lying down. I do not remember falling down. I do not remember coming to this place all. All I know is that it is dark and I mean really dark. The kind of dark that feels like it is leaning in on me waiting to see what I will do next with the darkness, around me.
I push myself up slowly thinking that something will grab me soon as I move but nothing does. When I take a step my footsteps echo in a way like the sound is coming back to me late. It is like the sound is not sure of itself. That is when I see the mirror. It is barely visible. It catches just enough light to show a shape. The mirror shows me. I have a head and an eye patch. I am wearing a black suit that looks too clean for a place, like this. At least I have muscles that look strong.. What have I been doing to get these strong muscles? I move my fingers without thinking about it just to make sure they actually work. My fingers. That is a good thing. It means I am probably real. I mean I think I am real. I flex my fingers again just to be sure. My fingers are moving so that is something. It makes me feel like I am real like the world, around me is real. I think about my fingers. How they can move and that makes me think that I am real too.
I keep telling myself that something must have happened to me. People do not just wake up one day. Not know what is going on. Somebody must have put me in this place. Somebody must have dressed me in these clothes.. Somebody definitely called out my name earlier. I know I did not imagine that. I look at myself in the mirror for a time trying to remember something but all I feel is this empty feeling in my stomach. Whatever happened to me before this whatever I forgot it is still, inside me. I just do not know what it is. I am trying to think about what could have happened. My mind is a blank. The only thing I know is that something is missing. I need to find out what that something is. The thing is just hiding from me. I do not know where the thing is. The thing is really good, at hiding from me.
I do not see any girl around me. So who was saying my name? Then I see a door. It has a lot of bright white light coming out. I go through the door. A lot of light hits my face. When my eyes get used to the light I can see what is around me. The hospital room looks familiar it really looks like a hospital. Somebody pushes me onto a hospital bed and a lot of nurses are, around me they are turning the wheels of the bed. "Oh dear, are you hurt? Thankfully we found you in time, it would've been a disaster!" one of the nurses said to me in a fake-sounding tone. I felt the bed's soft fibre underneath me, and I felt a sense of anticipation and ease all at once.
I didn't mind all of this happening to me. All I wanted to know was the person who called my name. "Name, Fumi. Gender, male. Occupation, unknown. Age 18. Date of birth, August 19th." the nurse pushing my bed said, reading off a clip board with a piece of paper on it. But where are they taking me? I wonder...
A young boy was sitting on the floor near the wall. He was stacking plastic cups into a tower. The tower was really too tall. It looked like it could fall over at any moment. The boy had his tongue sticking out a bit because he was concentrating so hard on what he was doing. He was putting each cup on top of the one very carefully. His hands were not shaking even though he could hear a lot of noise, around him. There were carts rolling by and people walking and talking in the distance. A nurse walked by the boy. Stopped for a second to watch what he was doing.. Then she just kept going and did not say anything to the boy. The boy just kept on stacking the plastic cups into his tower.
Just as the tower reached its peak, someone nearby coughed loudly. The entire stack collapsed instantly, cups scattering across the floor in every direction. The boy didn't react at all. He simply reached for another cup and started rebuilding, like the collapse was expected. "Poor guy..." I muttered under the husk of my breath.
I walked for 30 seconds and then the nurses took me to a room. The room was really nice. It had a great view from the window. When I looked out the window I saw cars coming and going. Some cars were pulling up. Some were leaving. I also saw people walking in and out of the hospital. The nurses and the hospital staff were around. I could have watched the cars and the people for hours it was that interesting. I was looking at the cars and the people, outside the window of the hospital room. "Fumi~ Please don't go off like that again, as there's a probability we won't be able to find you, you see~" the nurse said to me, eyes sharp as a tiger, but a smile as sweet as a rose.
The big clock hung above the doors in the hallway. Its second hand was ticking loud. You could hear each tick clearly and it seemed to make the quiet time, between ticks feel really weird. It was like the clock was doing it on purpose. People walked under the clock without looking up at it but the sound of the clock was still there. The clock just kept on ticking.
A woman seated beneath the clock glanced up at it, then checked her watch, her eyebrows knitting together in confusion. She checked the clock again, then her watch once more, before quietly muttering that time felt "off today." Standing up, she walked away, leaving the clock to continue ticking alone.
"Uh, yeah, noted. I won't leave my room anymore. Sorry to cause a disturbance." the boy replied with a sincere expression, back hunched and sweating while looking into the female nurse's sharp, detailed velvet eyes.
I heard a man yelling on the phone from the room. He was really loud. Sounded upset. The man was walking back and forth next, to the bed waving his hand around in the air while he talked on the phone. The other hand was holding the phone to his ear. I saw that his arm was all wrapped up in white bandages.. He just kept saying that he was okay that he did not need to be there. The man said he was fine even though his arm was hurt.
Eventually, the call ended. The man stared at the dark screen of his phone, his shoulders slowly slumping as the tension drained out of him. He sat down heavily on the edge of the bed, rubbing his face with his good hand, suddenly looking far more tired than angry.
As the nurses left the room, the boy was left to ponder, "But what do they mean by 'again'?"
A janitor pushed a cleaning cart down the hallway, just outside of Fumi's room, at a painfully slow pace, the wheels squeaking like they were begging to be put out of their misery. He hummed some old tune that didn't really have a melody, stopping every few steps to adjust the mop handle or wipe his hands on his pants for no reason at all. The smell of disinfectant followed him like a fog, mixing with the sterile hospital air until it felt almost suffocating.
He stopped near a vending machine, stared at the glowing buttons for a long time, then sighed like he'd just lost an argument with himself. Without buying anything, he turned away and continued down the hall. The vending machine beeped once behind him, sharp and sudden, loud enough to make him flinch, as if it was disappointed he didn't choose anything.
Meanwhile at the front of the hospital a woman who was probably 19 years old was walking to the entrance. Then a drop of water fell down in front of her. She looked up because she thought it was raining.. It was not raining at all. The sun was. There were no clouds anywhere. "This is weird" the woman said to herself. "I thought it would be raining because a drop of water just fell in front of me." Then she saw something out of the corner of her eye. She could see Fumi staring down at her from the high window in his hospital room. With a friendly smile and wave, she headed into the hospital, the automatic doors sliding open before her.
The receptionist at the hospital was having a time with the printer, near the front desk. It just would not work. The paper would come out halfway. Then get stuck. Sometimes the paper would even fall on the floor. The hospital receptionist was getting really frustrated. The printer was not. It was making her very upset. Each time the paper got stuck the hospital receptionists jaw would tighten up a bit more.
After a long pause, she stared at the printer, took a slow breath, and unplugged it entirely. The sudden silence felt heavy, almost satisfying. She straightened the papers on the desk and pretended nothing had happened.
The girl walked into the hospital. Headed down a corridor. She looked back, over her shoulder to see two men wearing coats and black hats. The hospital girl said "Damn pursuers..." as her face turned cold and serious. Then the hospital girls face changed to an playful look. The hospital girl said "They're always so persistent huh?". She started humming a song. The hospital girl kept walking down the hallway still humming.
Two doctors walked past each other in the hallway. They were really tired. One of the doctors gave a nod he did not even lift his head all the way up. The other doctor nodded back but he was not really paying attention his eyes were not focused. He just kept on walking without stopping.
People walked in directions neither of the people turned around. This was the kind of thing that happened times a day and people forgot about it right away. A nurse was standing near a closet with supplies looking at her phone with one hand and holding some papers in the other. The nurse laughed quietly at something on her phone. She covered her mouth, like that would make the laugh quieter. The nurse was still looking at her phone. Smiling.
When she noticed movement in her peripheral vision, her expression snapped back into something professional. She locked her phone, tucked it away, adjusted the clipboard, and walked off down the hall like she'd been working the whole time.
The girl was walking down the hallway. She looked into some of the rooms. What she saw was really weird. There were some people doing strange things. She saw a man who was very strong and had muscles. He was boxing with the air in front of a television. On the television Kama Kamori was singing on stage. Kama Kamori had hair. The man was saying "I love you" to the television. He was not wearing a shirt. He was still boxing with the air. The girl saw that the man was very excited, about Kama Kamori. "Yeah, he's definitely one of those cringe fan boys..." she said, walking to the next room. "Is he on steroids or something? His body was so toned!"
Walking to the room she took a look inside and saw a short man with grey hair. He was sitting in a room with 30 cats. The man said to one of the cats "Make sure to eat your food, Keicho. Do not go hungry now." He was feeding one of the cats, from a bowl. Then he said, ". Do not think I forgot you either Chin-Chan-Chan." The man fed another cat with his hands. The woman just said "Uhh... Yeah" that's weird..." the woman said, storming off into the elevator and pressing the buttons before the door closed. As the elevator went up about 10 stories, she tapped her foot as the door opened. "Come on, I just need a room to hide in for about 30 minutes to avoid these pursers!"
The elevator doors opened on a floor that looked completely empty. The hallway lights were dimmed, half of them flickering slightly, casting long shadows across the floor. No one stood there, no footsteps echoed, and no sound came from either direction. After several seconds of silence, the doors slowly slid shut again. No one inside the elevator said anything.
This man is standing in the elevator. He is looking hard at the numbers on the display, above the doors. The elevator is. The numbers are changing. This man is saying each number loud but really quietly. His mouth is moving a bit when he says the numbers. Then the numbers start moving and this man stops saying them. He looks down at the floor. The floor is shiny. He can see his shoes in it. He just stands there looking at his shoes until the elevator starts to slow down. The elevator is slowing down. This man is still looking at the floor.
The girl walked out of the elevator. Then she went down the hallway.
As the girl walked down the hallway the girl looked out of a window in a patients room.
There was a television down the hallway and the television flickered quietly.
The television was changing channels on its own.
The girl saw a cooking show on the television for a seconds then the television had static then the girl saw the evening news on the television then the television had static again.
The room where the television played was empty.
The remote, for the television sat untouched on a table beside a bed facing the television screen.
She said "This is really weird" before she went into the room. "Wow this is high up" she said and she looked out the window.
A few seconds went by before she looked at the boy who was sitting there looking out the window. The boy was Fumi and Fumi was a boy who was really curious or, at least he seemed like it. Fumi was looking out the window.
Then Fumi turned his head to look at the woman because Fumi wanted to know who she was. "Um, who're you lady" Fumi asked the woman. The man said that. He pointed a finger at the woman.
The girl said "I am Abby Kawakami" and she looked down at the floor before looking up at Fumi. Then she said "You are the guy I waved to a while ago". Fumi said "Yes that is right. Well can I help you, Abby Kawakami?" He was thinking about why Abby Kawakami was, in his room. Abby Kawakami said "Well you see it is a long story really. You don't mind if I stay here, do you? Right?" Kawakami replied. Fumi raised an eyebrow, indirectly telling her to give him the whole story. "Uh, okay... fine. The truth is, I'm being pursued. That's all. I'm being pursued is all." she followed up.
Fumi said "You look really simple". Fumi looked at her carefully. She has a tank top that is cropped. It fits her closely. It does not look fancy. Her shorts are high-waisted. They look practical. They are easy to move in. Fumi did not see any things on her. Fumi only saw those earrings that are shaped like hearts. They are resting against her hair. Her hair goes down to her shoulders. It falls down in an natural way. It is a little messy. It is not too messy. Fumi looked at her hair and her heart-shaped earrings again. She thought that her hair and her earrings looked nice on the girl. The girls waisted shorts and plain tank top looked nice on her too. And the way you stand with your hand on your hip, there's a steadiness to it. You don't feel complicated. You're just… clear." Fumi said, pointing his finger at her.
I guess you are right about everything. Do you like the way I look or something? Kawakami said to Fumi after she explained what she thought about her appearance. Then Fumi said to Kawakami "Oh and Kawakami you are a C-Cup so you know." Kawakami got really upset. Said "That is disgusting! Why were you looking at me like that?" Then Kawakami punched Fumi on his head. Fumi was, in pain after Kawakami punched him so he held his head. He said "Ah!! What was that for?!" he exclaimed. "If you EVER mention something to me like that again, I'll-" she said, getting cut off by Fumi. "Okay, okay! I won't! Sorry! I was just trying to help, jeez!!"
Kawakami asked Fumi what are you in the hospital for. You do not look hurt. Do you have cancer or something like that.. Maybe you have a chronic illness. Fumi said, I am not entirely sure. I do not know what happened to me because I have no memory of my life. Kawakami said, you do not remember anything, about yourself. Fumi said, the only thing I know about myself is that my name is Fumi. "Wait, I've... heard your voice from somewhere before..." Fumi said, creating a weird atmosphere.
Before Kawakami got the chance to respond to his request Fumi looked towards the door. He did not really know why he did this. Two men were standing in the doorway of the room. They were both wearing clothes. It was like they wanted to look scary on purpose. The two men had not come inside yet. They had not said a word. They were just standing there. One of the men in black was leaning against the wall. The other man was standing up straight. He was blocking the way out. He was not even trying to hide what he was doing. The men, in black were just standing there like they were waiting for something to happen. Fumi saw that the man who was standing up straight was completely blocking the exit.
Kawakami saw them after a second. The smile on her face went away fast. She did not move away, from Fumi. Kawakamis shoulders got tight and she let out a quiet sigh. It was like Kawakami had been thinking this would happen sooner or later.
The taller man said "Abby Kawakami." His voice was really calm. It was too calm. He said "We need you to come with us." As he said that his hand came out of his coat. It stopped out so you could see the grip of a handgun. He was not pointing the handgun at Abby Kawakami yet. He wanted her to see it. The handgun was a threat. Abby Kawakami was being told to come with them and the handgun was there to make sure she did what the taller man said.
Kawakami rolled her eyes. Put her hands on her hips. "You guys always come at the times" Kawakami said. "This is a hospital so just calm down" she said. Kawakami looked at them. Said "just relax this is a hospital after all Kawakami told them.
The second man stepped forward. Now he was fully blocking the doorway. The mans expression did not change. It stayed flat. The second man said "We are not leaving without you."
"No " Kawakami said. She had her hands on her hips. They just stayed there.
The first man looked at her. Said "You see, Miss Kawakami we cannot do that."
He sounded a little more serious now. "We have come for you, Miss Kawakami " he said.
"And only you " he added to make it clear that they were not interested, in anyone.
Kawakami said "No". She did not want to say it. Kawakami thought the people, around her were idiots. "Do I have to repeat myself Kawakami asked. Kawakami called them idiots.
The room was silent for a moment. It was not the kind of silence. It was just that nobody felt like talking now. The mans hand was still near his coat. His fingers were moving a bit like he was thinking about something. He looked at Fumi for a second then he looked back at Kawakami. The first man was clearly upset that Kawakami was in the room, with him and Fumi. Kawakami was probably not who the first man wanted to see now.
"This does not have to turn into a problem" the first man said. He spoke in a voice but it was not a friendly voice. "You need to walk out with the men" he said. "If you do this no one will get hurt" the first man continued. The first man moved his body taking a step closer to her which was enough to make his point very clear, without actually touching the woman.
Kawakami did not move. Kawakami tilted her head she was not impressed. "You guys keep saying that " Kawakami said. "And it is never true " Kawakami finished. Kawakamis voice was not loud. Kawakamis voice did not shake either.
The second man laughed quietly to himself. "She is doing it again " the second man said. The second man thought this was really something. "She is dragging it out " the second man added.
The first man clenched his jaw. He was really mad now. The mans hand came all the way out of his coat. The first man said " chance."
The man picked up the gun. Pointed the gun at the woman. He was holding the gun and the gun was now pointed directly at her.
"Don't kill her." the second man said, placing a hand on the gunman's shoulder. "Just give her a few warning shots." he added.
The man said "I understand" and his finger started to pull the trigger.. Before he could pull it all the way back a little blue ball appeared. This blue ball was 5 centimeters tall and it floated right in front of the mans eyes. It touched the mans pupil. He got really confused. "What is going on?" the man said. "What the hell is this thing that is floating in front of my eyes?" the man asked, talking about the blue ball. He was really surprised to see the blue ball. the man said, feeling no pain or stuff like that from the sphere coming in contact with his eyes. Suddenly, the man's eyes started to heat up and turn red.
The sphere was already, inside the mans eyes. The mans eyes got really hot when the sphere touched them. "AAAHHHH! FUCK!" the man. Then he dropped the gun. His eyes were so hot that they were boiling and little bubbles were forming on them. The other man said "Are you okay man?". He put his hands on the mans shoulders to see if he was alright. The mans eyes were still. It looked really bad. The other man was trying to help him. "NO, MY EYES ARE FUCKING BOILING, MAN! I'M BLIND! GET ME A DOCTOR!" the gunman said, waving his firearm around.
In that moment, Fumi got out of his bed and started walking towards the two. The man who was helping the gunman didn't notice, as he was too distracted by this bizarre anomaly. Suddenly, Fumi struck the man who wasn't visually impaired directly in the face without warning. He then grabbed the man's shirt and pulled his face close to his. "Fuck off." Fumi said in a serious tone before physically throwing the two men out of his room and slamming the door shut.
The tone changed to an one as Fumis face became calm again. He sat back in bed. Looked relaxed. "Fumi..." Kawakami said quietly. You could barely hear her. She did not look shocked or surprised or scared. She looked interested like she knew something about this.
"So what was I talking about before these people came in?" Kawakami said. "I do not remember it is really annoying that I forgot!" Fumi said, flailing his arms before softly slamming them down onto his bed sheets.
'So he has one too...' the girl thought to herself.
Down the hall the two gunmen were screaming for help and crying. "Damn it someone help me please" the blind man said. He was really scared. He put his gun in his pocket. "I am blind someone please help me" he said again. "Please someone help me" the blind man kept saying. Then a female nurse came up to him. Said "It is okay sir I am here to help you".. Then she saw the gun in his pocket. "Aaaaah there is a gun" she. She was really scared. The blind man had a gun. That was very bad. The female nurse did not know what to do. The two gunmen, including the man were still crying and screaming for help. Sir! Why do you have a gun?!" she exclaimed, drawing the attention of everyone present on floor 11.
Fumi said "Well that's not good...". Looked at the door that was shut. He could still hear the nurse crying really loudly even though the door was closed. Fumi turned to look at Kawakami. She was sitting on his bed. On top of him now. Kawakami was holding Fumis hand with her hand. Her fingers were locked with Fumis fingers. It felt really natural. It was like everything was okay. Fumi said "Uh, Kawakami..." Fumi said softly.
'This boy... I feel a connection between him and I...' she thought to herself.
'He's... just like me as well. He's special.'
Fumi held Kawakamis hand a tighter as he started to look a bit better.. Before they could talk some more a nurse burst into the room looking really worried. "Everybody needs to get out of the building now " she said. "There is a person with a gun, inside the hospital. We are telling everyone to leave the hospital." Then she left the room. Went to warn the next patient. Fumi and Kawakami quickly got up. Left their room. They walked over to the stairs that went down. After barging through multiple people on their way out, they finally exited the hospital.
"Hey, Fumi-kun, let's ditch this hospital, what do you say?" Kawakami said, grabbing Fumi's hand and walking away with him. "Huh? Where are we going?" Fumi said, trailing behind Kawakami who was dragging his hand. "I need to show you something Fumi." Kawakami said as they walked down the streets of the place they call Atami.
The doors of the convenience store swung open. A familiar sound filled the air. The cool air inside the store hit Fumi away. Fumi walked slower without thinking about it. Her eyes looked around at all the shelves in the store. These shelves were full of snacks and drinks and all kinds of stuff.
Everything about the store felt really normal. It felt too normal. After what just happened it felt strange to be standing in a store, with instant noodles and candy bars all around. The convenience store felt fake like it was not real. Fumi was standing under the lights of the convenience store surrounded by all this normal stuff and it just did not feel right.
Kawakami wandered ahead like she owned the place, hands clasped behind her back as she scanned the aisles. She stopped near a small rack by the counter, crouching down slightly. "Oh my god." she said, reaching out and picking something up. It was a cheap plastic toy gun, bright colors and way too light to be convincing. She turned it over in her hands, inspecting it like it was some rare artifact. "Look at this. Tell me this isn't hilarious."
Fumi leaned in close and he squinted at the thing. "Why would anyone even buy that" he said. The toy was making a rattling noise when Kawakami shook it. It was like something was loose, inside the toy. Kawakami pointed the toy at Fumi in a dramatic way. She pulled the trigger and it made a soft click sound. "Pew pew" she said. Her face was completely serious. Fumi looked at Kawakami for a second. Then he snorted even though he did not want to. The toy was pretty silly. Fumi was looking at Kawakami and the toy again.
"Okay no." Fumi said. "You cannot be serious." Kawakami stood up and tossed the toy lightly in the air before catching it again. "Dead serious." she replied. She dropped it into a small shopping basket and kept walking, like the decision had already been made. At the counter, the cashier barely reacted. He scanned the toy gun, a bottled drink, and a bag of chips without looking up. Fumi watched the total flash on the screen.
Stepping outside the two of them kept walking down the street. Fumi said to Kawakami "So what was the point of that?" Kawakami looked back at Fumi. Her face changed all of a sudden. She said "You will see" in a way and kept walking. The two of them walked for thirty minutes. Then they got to the edge of the town. Fumi and Kawakami finally reached the edge of Atami. Kawakami said, stretching her arms out. "Ah, so we're in Atami, huh?" Fumi replied.
Fumi do not be mistaken. The town of Atami which is in the part of Japan is a quiet and peaceful place.. That is not true. Kawakami said this in a serious voice. What do you mean by that Fumi. She sounded really curious. The thing, about Atami town is that it will not let people leave, Kawakami. Then she picked up the toy pistol that she had before. Now watch this she said. she said, throwing the toy pistol about 10 meters in front of her, landing the ground with a high pitched thud. "Uhh... Kawakami... what was that for?" Fumi asked, pointing a finger towards the now cracked toy pistol.
Kawakami walked forward without saying a word. She was walking along when she slipped on a rock and fell to the ground. Fumi asked Kawakami if she was okay and held out his hand to help her up. Kawakami said do not worry this is all natural. Then Kawakami stood up. Kept walking forward. As Kawakami walked forward a black snake came out of the bushes. Hissed at Kawakami. Kawakami said fine. she said, turning back and walking towards Fumi.
She looked up at Fumi. Said "You see I just cannot leave Atami no matter how hard I try."
Fumi was really surprised. He said "What is going on?"
She told Fumi that she is sure that if she had tried to leave Atami when that snake was around the snake would have bitten her.
Atami is a place where she feels like she is stuck.
She said that if the snake had bitten her she would have died in five minutes.
Fumi was sweating because he was so shocked, by what she was telling him. And even if I got past that snake, I bet there'd be something else to push me back into the town." she said, hands on her hip, her expression matched the tone of the atmosphere.
Fumi did not answer away. He just stood there looking at the bushes where the snake had been like he thought it would come back out and show him again. His mouth opened a little then closed like his brain was trying to figure out what was the craziest part of all this. "So what you are saying" Fumi said. "Is that this town is basically a trap" he said. "Yes" Kawakami said. ". Before you ask" No. It's not a normal cage." she added. "It doesn't need walls." she finished.
The strangest thing is that nobody even asks any questions about it. People always say things like "My family trip got cancelled because something bad happened. I could not leave".. That is not true. I am tired of people saying it is bad luck.. I do not even know why people are saying this.
She said this and tears started to form in her eyes.. Your power Fumi I have a power too a power, like yours. I believe you and I were drawn together. At least that's what I believe." Kawakami said, hugging Fumi and digging her head into his chest.
"Just calm down Kawakami-chan " Fumi said, putting his arms around her.
Fumi was trying to make her feel better.
"I need your help, Fumi " Kawakami-chan said. "I need you to help me figure out what is going on in Atami.
Please help me I know you are special. You saved my life before so I trust you " she said, burying her face in Fumis chest.
Kawakami-chan really needed Fumis help.
Fumi looked up. Stared out at what they thought of as the world, outside of Atami. "So, how long have you figured this out, Kawakami-chan?" Fumi asked.
"6 months..." Kawakami replied, slightly raising her head in order for her to talk.
"I see..." Fumi replied.
"Kawakami-chan... there's no need to worry anymore. I and I alone will solve this mystery. Don't you worry." he said, placing his hands on his hips.
"T-Thank you... Fumi-kun..."
'This girl... she has the utmost faith in my ability to solve the mystery of Atami.' Fumi thought to himself.
'But... even though she's wishing for me to aid her in figuring out this mystery, I want to solve it as well. Not just because some girl asked me to, but I genuinely find it strange how the town won't let you leave.' he thought once more.
'What's more is the town's people don't even recognize this bizarre phenomenon.'
(This may sound strange. I, Fumi have no memories of my past. I do not remember anything about my life. The nurses at the hospital did everything they could to keep me. I am not sure if I was a patient at the hospital or not. What I find strange though is what is going on in Atami. Nobody asks why. It seems like the town of Atami itself or maybe it is just fate will not let people leave Atami no matter how hard they try to leave Atami. I, Fumi think this is very strange. I want to know more, about Atami and my memories. Abby Kawakami, my friend that I recently made, is allowing me to move into a really big house that all of her college friends live in. They all seem pretty nice, for now, at least.)
To Be Continued! In Chapter 2!
