Candy tilted her head, curiosity fully charged โก๐.
"Brother," she asked sweetly ๐ฌ,
"tell me about your college girlfriend."
The room wentย suspiciously quietย ๐ถ.
Maya leaned in ๐.
Cousin paused mid-snack ๐ชโ.
Mochi didn't look at himโฆ which somehow meant she was listening the most ๐๐ญ.
Laddu sighed like a man opening an old, dusty file ๐๐ฎโ๐จ.
"In India," he said calmly,
"I was a mouse." ๐ญ
Candy blinked.
"โฆMouse?" ๐ณ
"Yes," Laddu nodded seriously.
"Very small. Very quiet." ๐ค๐ถ
Maya frowned.
"You? Quiet?" ๐คจ
Laddu continued anyway.
"In India, if I did anything wrong," he explained,
"my family could beat my ass." ๐๐ฅ
Father cleared his throat.
"Discipline." ๐ง
"Extreme discipline," Laddu corrected. โ ๏ธ
"So no girlfriend?" Candy asked.
Laddu shrugged. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
"I dated fear," he said.
"Fear was very loyal." ๐๐จ
Maya burst out laughing ๐๐.
Then Laddu leaned back and added casually,
"But here," he said,
"in foreign landโฆ" ๐
He straightened his shoulders a little ๐ช.
"I am lion." ๐ฆ
Candy's eyes widened.
"ROAR?" ๐ฒ
"Yes," Laddu nodded seriously.
"No aunties watching."
"No neighbour reporting."
"No uncle asking marks." ๐ซ๐ต๐ซ๐๏ธ๐ซ๐
Cousin laughed.
"Freedom unlocked." ๐๐
Mochi finally looked at him.
"And the girlfriends?" she asked calmly. ๐
Laddu met her eyes.
"Experimental phase," he said carefully.
"Like lab work." ๐งช๐
Maya choked on air.
"SCIENCE." ๐ตโ๐ซ๐
Laddu smiled at Mochi.
"But lion retired," he added softly. ๐ฆโก๏ธ๐
"Mouse found home." ๐ญ๐
Mochi didn't smileโฆ
โฆbut she moved a little closer. ๐คโก๏ธ
Candy nodded wisely. ๐ง
"So," she concluded,
"India mouse. Foreign lion." ๐ญโก๏ธ๐ฆ
Laddu nodded.
"Correct," he said.
"Different countries, different animals." ๐๐พ
Maya leaned back.
"Next lesson," she said,
"passport zoology." ๐๐
The baby slept ๐ด๐ถ.
The house stayed warm ๐ ๐ฅ.
And Laddu, for once,
didn't need to roar ๐ฆโ
to feel strong ๐ช๐.
Roasting With Love ๐ฅโค๏ธ
Mochi finally asked it.
"Why are you like that?" ๐คจ
Laddu smiled, like he had been waiting for this question his whole life ๐.
"My whole family," he said calmly,
"has comedy humour." ๐๐งฌ
Maya leaned in.
"Oh no." ๐
"We roast each other," Laddu continued,
"but with respect." ๐ซถ๐ฅ
Father nodded slowly.
"That part is important." โ๏ธ
Laddu's eyes softened as he remembered ๐ญ.
"Like everyday casual life," he said.
"My grandpa casually walking," Laddu continued,
"once told my grannyโ"
He paused, then copied an old man's serious voice ๐ญ:
"'If obesity had a competition,'"
"'you would win the gold medal.'" ๐ฅ๐
For one secondโ
Then everyoneย burst out laughingย ๐ฅ๐๐๐.
Mochi covered her mouth ๐คญ.
Candy clapped ๐๐.
Maya fell back on the sofa ๐๏ธ๐คฃ.
"And my granny," Laddu continued proudly,
"didn't cry." โ๐ญ
He switched tone again, sharp and sweet ๐ฌโ๏ธ:
"She said, 'If baldness was a competition,
you would win gold too.'" ๐ฅ๐งโ๐ฆฒ
The houseย exploded againย ๐ฃ๐คฃ.
Father laughed openly ๐.
Mother shook her head, smiling ๐.
Candy wheezed ๐ต๐.
"And my grandpa?" Laddu added.
"What?" Candy asked.
"He laughed hardest," Laddu said. ๐๐
Mochi smiled softly now ๐ค.
"One anniversary," Laddu continued,
"my grandpa gifted my granny a skipping rope." ๐ชข
Maya screamed.
"NO." ๐ฑ๐
"And my granny," Laddu finished,
"gifted him a comb." ๐โโ๏ธ
Silence. ๐ถ
Thenย pure chaosย ๐ช๏ธ๐.
Candy rolled on the floor ๐คฃ๐คฃ.
Cousin wiped tears ๐ญ๐.
Maya pointed at Laddu.
"THIS IS GENETIC." ๐งฌ๐ฅ
Laddu laughed with them ๐.
"That's why I'm like this," he said.
"We joke. We roast. But we never hurt." ๐คโค๏ธ
Mochi looked at him for a long second ๐.
Then nodded.
"โฆI understand," she said softly. ๐ค
Laddu smiled.
"Good," he replied.
"Because silence in my family means something is wrong." ๐จ๐
The baby stirred slightly ๐ด๐ถ.
The house laughed again ๐ ๐.
And somewhere,
two old souls with aย skipping rope ๐ชขย and aย comb ๐โโ๏ธ
would have approved ๐๐.
