Nora's POV
I press my fingertips against my temples, exhaling slowly as the weight of everything settles on my shoulders.
"Nora, I'm devastated," Lena's voice cracks through the phone. "I had no clue you weren't entirely human. I thought if we could identify the problem, we'd find a way to cure whatever was making you so sick."
"Don't beat yourself up over it. You were fighting to save my life. Tell me exactly what she discovered."
"Your blood has human elements from your mother's lineage, but there are components she's never encountered before. She wants to ship samples to a university lab for advanced analysis." Lena's sigh carries through the speaker. "She believes she's stumbled onto something groundbreaking."
"I suppose she has, considering who's ever analyzed angel blood before?" I swing my legs off the lounge chair and rise, signaling my familiars to trail me toward the house.
