Nora's POV
"What do you mean it's not working?"
Ophelia exhales sharply. "Nothing we're doing is weakening the demon."
Terror claws its way up my spine so fast I think I might faint. I collapse back onto the settee and squeeze my eyes shut. This has to work. Gideon has to be okay. When I open my eyes again, the clock mocks me. He's been possessed for hours now, which means he's already at risk for permanent damage.
"I'm coming with you," I tell Ophelia.
She nods and moves toward the door but hesitates. "Charlette sent me to get you. I came to break the hexes but you—"
"Mack handled it."
"How did you manage to call Mack while hexed—never mind. Let's go." She grabs my hand and we sprint down the hallway. Charlette's office sits at the far end of the Shadowhaven, away from the school and closer to the gathering hall. I graduated from the Academy before she became High Priestess, so I've only been in her office a handful of times.
