Nora's POV
My lungs burn as I force air in and out of my chest.
The wooden chair arms dig into my palms where I've been gripping them like a lifeline. Stars dance at the edges of my vision, but I refuse to let them take over. Never seeing James again isn't just unacceptable - it's impossible. Their threat means nothing because no force in this world could keep me away from the man I love.
What tears at my heart is knowing what they'll do to Charlette if they discover she's protecting me.
She knows James isn't some random vampire I casually dated before demons crashed our little party.
She knows we're committed to each other. That we're building a life together, waiting for our house to be finished.
She knows I'm completely in love with him and that losing him would destroy me.
