Savannah's POV
"He bit you?"
"No..."
Belle dropped her teacup with such force that hot liquid splashed across the glass coffee table, droplets threatening to stain her pristine white carpet. She didn't even glance at the mess.
Her bright eyes went wide with disbelief, and despite the almost comical expression on her face, I understood exactly why she looked so stunned. This pregnancy defied every rule of nature I knew.
"Girl, something doesn't add up here."
Belle shook her head slowly, her gaze fixed on my abdomen.
I pulled the throw blanket higher, trying to hide behind the soft fabric. I knew she wasn't judging me, but the shame of feeling broken made my chest tighten with guilt.
"I don't understand it either, but it happened. I have no idea what to do now."
"Have you told him?"
Belle curled up in her armchair, knees tucked under her chin. I copied her position instinctively, the pressure against my stomach providing just enough relief from the persistent cramping.
