Chapter 79 - Chapter 79

Chapter 79 Please Take Off Your Yellow Glasses

"If I didn't mishear, you want me to play a piece of music using my ability?"

Skye asked cautiously, just to make sure her ears weren't playing tricks on her.

"Don't make such a fuss, it's very simple."

Finney's first priority was to build Skye's confidence, setting a high starting point so she could master her ability faster and become stronger sooner.

  "Simple!?"

Skye, unaware of Finney's intentions, looked at her suspiciously, then took a deep breath and tentatively stretched out her palm, staring at the water in the glass before her.

  "Ding!"

The calm surface of the water in the glass suddenly began to tremble slightly. Skye's face lit up with joy; this was the first time she had truly seen and felt her ability.

  "Crack!"

But before her smile could last, a glass on the table suddenly shattered into pieces, a truly pitiful sight. Then, "Crack," "Crack," "Crack," a series of sounds followed.

  Finney was instantly heartbroken.

Skye was startled and momentarily stunned. She had only intended to keep the water in the cup vibrating, not to shatter it. She quickly explained, "I...I didn't mean to!"

"It's alright, you'll pay for the next cup anyway,"

Finney said, looking at the shards on the table. Knowing Skye's stingy nature, this might make her more serious.

  "Ah!"

Skye paused, instantly resolving not to break the cup again, even though her savings could easily fund a cup factory.

Finney didn't want to rush her; he understood the principle of haste makes waste. So he said, "Don't be too impatient. You've only just gained this ability. Start by feeling the vibrations of small objects."

"Once you've fully mastered it, gradually increase the amount. Try to play the piece within a week."

Skye nodded without hesitation, her excitement still lingering. This was her power, her true power.

While "Possessed" had given her a taste of flight, it was too brief, and the armor ultimately belonged to Finney.

But "Shockwave" was different; she could feel the power belonged entirely to her.

  "Finney, thank you!"

  Skye said sincerely.

With Finney before her, Iron Man after her, and all the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj, Skye didn't see having superpowers as something monstrous.

Of course, this was also related to the fact that there was no overall change after the transformation; if she turned green or bigger like Banner, she certainly wouldn't be as at ease as she was now.

However, Finney certainly wouldn't allow that to happen.

"It's nothing, after all, I promised you."

Finney waved his hand dismissively. He had already anticipated this day when he discovered Skye's special abilities, but he hadn't expected it to go so smoothly.

Seeing Finney's indifferent attitude, Skye, who had been silently moved, suddenly became a little angry.

Indeed, a woman's mood can change in an instant!

"Remember, never overuse your abilities, and don't let your emotions fluctuate too much lately,"

Finney repeatedly warned. The stronger Skye's shockwave ability, the greater the potential damage to herself, and in the original storyline, emotions seemed to affect the ability's effectiveness.

  "Oh!"

Skye didn't understand the significance of Finney's warning, but she obediently agreed. Finney had far more abilities than her and was definitely more experienced.

While Skye was pondering her abilities in her room, Finney brought Tony a fragment of the 'Obeliest'.

  "What's this?"

Seeing Tony reach for the obelisk fragment, Finney quickly grabbed him, warning, "This is an alien artifact, directly lethal to normal people. Don't touch it."

Tony immediately withdrew his hand, examining the silver fragment in the box, and asked curiously, "Is this what you wanted from S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

"No, it's actually just a box. I've already taken the contents out."

Tony's scientific spirit kicked in; he stared at the fragment for a while, then confirmed, "It seems you didn't open it the normal way."

Finney was somewhat surprised by Tony's insight. He couldn't even understand the Ancient One's method, yet Tony could tell it wasn't the correct way to open it!

He didn't dwell on it and quickly stated his purpose: "Could you make me a wristband that minimizes the impact of shock, a women's style?"

  "A shock-absorbing wristband!?"

Tony looked surprised and asked, "What do you need that for?"

"Just make me one, and these things will be your payment. You can study it, but be very careful; it's truly lethal and petrifying if you touch it."

"I need some data and specific requirements before I can make it for you,"

Tony replied, shaking his head. He then looked at Finney and muttered to himself, "A women's style too? What new tricks can a wristband be used for!? Aren't handcuffs and whips fashionable anymore?"

  "..."

Finney glared at Tony and said disdainfully, "Take off your yellow glasses before you speak."

"It's for my sister. She has developed an ability that might harm herself, and I need this to protect her temporarily,"

Finney finally explained. Although he suspected Tony's claim of needing data was just an excuse, he still hoped Tony would understand the importance of the matter.

  "Your sister?"

Tony paused, his expression becoming more serious, but he also asked with some curiosity, "Your parents don't have any special abilities either, do they?"

Finney ignored the question and continued, "I'll bring her over in a few days. If you have any devices that can enhance shockwave sensing, you can lend them to me."

Tony readily agreed, and at the same time, he began to wonder about Finney's sister.

After reminding her again of the dangers of the 'Obeliest' fragments, Finney left under Tony's impatient gaze.

The next day, before Finney went to school, Skye was still fast asleep in her room, not even getting up for breakfast. If nothing unexpected happened, she must have been secretly practicing her abilities last night.

After leaving a few 'Violet Chicken Wraps' on the table, Finney went to school.

A day later, the outside world's speculation about Finney's identity hadn't subsided; on the contrary, it had intensified. Newspapers, media, and the internet were filled with the image of Finney, the 'Knight of Divine Punishment.'

Walking down the street, Finney even saw some people using his name to recruit followers.

This situation caused Finney to frown deeply. He wasn't a representative of any god, nor did he intend to deify himself; in truth, he was simply too mysterious.

Iron Man was revered but not deified because his strength was understandable, and everyone knew Tony's identity.

But the Silver Knight was different. Finney's abilities—teleportation, 'explosive magic,' even his levitation—were all shrouded in mystery and incredulity.

People are always in awe of the unknown.

Lacking experience, they couldn't explain this situation, and coupled with Finney's refusal to reveal his identity, things ultimately escalated to this point through a series of coincidences.

But Finney knew this couldn't continue; the higher one climbs, the harder one falls, unless he truly possessed godlike power.

Otherwise, once his identity was revealed, his followers might not understand him.

More likely, they would lose their faith and do something insane!
