Chapter 78 - Chapter 78

  Chapter 78 Skye

  "Don't worry, it's good news."

Looking at Skye's expression, Finney couldn't help but laugh. She walked to her side and reassured her, "Remember when I told you about the power within your body?"

  "Yes, vibration."

Skye breathed a sigh of relief, nodded, and asked with a slightly puzzled expression, "What's wrong?"

"I can help you awaken this ability."

Hearing Finney's words, Skye jumped off the bed and ran excitedly to Finney, asking, "Really? How do I awaken it?"

"Come on, I'll take you there."

Remembering that the Ancient One was still waiting, Finney directly grabbed Skye's hand and opened a portal to Kamar-Taj.

When they stepped out of the portal, Skye suddenly realized she hadn't even changed her clothes. Wearing a pink nightgown, she looked particularly out of place in this sacred place.

  "Finney, I haven't changed yet,"

  Skye quickly said.

"Uh." Finney glanced at Skye's slightly cute pajamas and said helplessly, "Never mind, the teacher shouldn't mind. Let's go over first."

Although Skye was somewhat reluctant, she could only accept it when she heard that the Ancient One had been waiting for a long time.

"Are you sure this awakening won't change me?"

The closer Skye got to the Ancient One's room, the more uneasy she became. Although she was excited and looking forward to it before coming, she couldn't help but worry and be afraid when she actually faced it.

  "Don't worry, I'm here."

Finney saw Skye's fear, squeezed her small hand, and instructed her, "The process might petrify you for a while, but don't worry, it will be over soon."

Skye nodded. In fact, compared to the sudden transformation in the original story, with Finney's explanation and company, and the Ancient One's protection, the situation was much better now.

Before entering the house, Finney turned to Skye and asked one last time, "Are you really ready?"

  "Yes!"

Skye nodded firmly, her face resolute. After learning about her biological parents' situation, she had decided she had to save them; she couldn't give up this power.

Seeing Skye's decision, Finney said nothing more and led her to the Ancient One. He was slightly nervous and asked, "Teacher, what do we do next?"

"Miss Helsey, go up there and get those crystals."

The Ancient One gestured to Skye, pointing to the crystals exposed from the 'obelisk' on the table.

Looking at the cluster of intricately arranged crystals, Skye took small steps, inching closer until she could pick them up. She couldn't help but look at Finney.

  Finney nodded encouragingly.

Skye took a deep breath, nervously picked up the cluster of crystals, and then…

  nothing happened!

Finney quickly looked at the Ancient One, her eyes asking for an answer.

With a gentle wave of her hand, the crystal crumbled into fine powder, which Skye absorbed entirely.

Immediately afterward, a layer of black, stone-like substance spread across Skye's body, attempting to envelop her.

Although Finney had warned of the possibility of petrification, Skye still felt a surge of fear and panic in the face of this situation, her eyes fixed on Finney.

Ignoring the potential danger, Finney quickly came to Skye's side, reassuring her, "It's alright, it'll be over soon, trust me."

  "Mmm!"

Skye responded, feeling a sudden sense of relief. She then closed her eyes, allowing the substance to envelop her.

Finney watched nervously from the side, and couldn't help but ask the Ancient One, "Teacher, is this thing dangerous?"

The Ancient One was much calmer, sitting leisurely in her chair, and replied, "It's something from outer space. I'm not entirely sure about the specifics, but it doesn't seem to pose any problems so far."

Soon, while the two of them were talking, Skye quietly completed her transformation, like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon. Her stone-like outer shell gradually peeled away, revealing Skye inside, who appeared unchanged.

Finney breathed a sigh of relief; it seemed nothing unexpected had happened.

The transformation was complete, and Skye could feel something new within her. Unlike the original storyline where she was completely unaware, she had prepared herself mentally beforehand.

  "Finney!"

Once the petrification was completely lifted, Skye immediately hugged Finney, her emotions calming down. She didn't want to experience that loneliness and fear again.

  "It's alright, it's alright."

Finney patted Skye's back, comforting her like a child. "Okay, Teacher's still watching. Tell me, can you sense superpowers?"

  "Mmm."

Skye then remembered the Ancient One was still nearby, quickly blushing as she released Finney and whispered, "I think I can sense some strange sounds."

"It seems… I… can control them."

As she spoke, Skye slowly closed her eyes.

Immediately afterward, Finney felt the ground beneath her feet tremble slightly and quickly called out to Skye, "Skye, stop!"

  "Huh!?"

Skye opened her eyes in confusion, still not understanding what had happened.

"You were shaking the ground just now," Finney explained, glancing at the Ancient One who was looking on with curiosity, and continued, "This ability is quite dangerous. Don't damage the teacher's room."

  "Ah!"

Skye was startled and quickly apologized to the Ancient One, "I'm sorry, Ancient One, I just wanted to test if I could control them."

  "It's alright, Miss Helscythe."

The Ancient One smiled gently and said, "My room isn't as flimsy as Finney says, but this ability is very powerful. You must use it wisely and not let it harm you."

  "Yes!"

For some reason, Skye had a deep sense of awe for the Ancient One, so she nodded obediently, looking as if she would remember it.

In fact, Finney knew that Kamar-Taj wouldn't be that fragile, but he didn't want Skye to use her ability recklessly here, and as the Ancient One said, this ability could also backfire and harm the user.

"Thank you for your help today, teacher."

Finney thanked the Ancient One gratefully. Without the Ancient One, he would have had to take Skye to that underground temple, where the situation was unknown, and who knew what dangers might arise.

Afterwards, Finney, carrying the fragments of the 'Obeliest,' left Kamar-Taj with Skye.

Back home, Skye was still excitedly asking Finney about what had happened: "Did I really make the ground shake? What did it feel like?"

"Okay, don't think about the ground for now."

Finney brought out several half-filled glasses from the kitchen, which Skye found very intriguing.

  "What are you doing?"

"Making the water in the glasses vibrate. Hmm, never mind, let's make it a little more difficult. Come on, play me 'Symphony No. 5'!"

Finney looked at Skye, realizing that Skye's ability should be called a shockwave. While powerful, it was extremely difficult to control, so she needed to master it first.

  "?"

  Skye looked confused.

It was like skipping the tutorial in a game and jumping straight into it, only to find she didn't understand any of the controls.
