ARC 1 – CHAPTER 4
RULES
PART 1
The Aftermath
The warehouse was quiet now.
Kai sat on a crate, arms resting on knees, staring at the video feed of Mr. Grin screaming, chained above the steel beams. Red light reflected in his eyes. The bio-organism pulsed beneath his skin, writhing, eager, hungry.
Kill faster. Louder. Messier.
Kai shook his head.
"No," he muttered. "Control first. Violence second."
He pulled a notebook from his backpack, flipping pages full of sketches: weapons, escape routes, algorithms for combat, floor plans of criminal hideouts.
Rules. Failsafes. Logic. Humanity's last stand against the monster growing inside him.
You think you can stop me? the organism whispered.
"I'll try," Kai replied.
The first rule: No civilians.
PART 2
Mental Failsafes
Kai lit a cigarette, letting the smoke curl in the dark air. Every strike, every kill now had a protocol. He mapped contingencies:
If I lose control → sedative injections ready
If I'm trapped → bio-organism containment
If I'm hunted → misdirection, traps, decoys
Batman-level planning, John Wick-level execution. Every scenario, accounted for. Every outcome, calculated.
You'll never need them, the bio-organism hissed.
"Better safe than dead," Kai muttered.
He practiced restraint. He trained himself to feel rage, then redirect it into strategy. No screams, no bloodlust… unless unavoidable.
This was his edge. And the monster didn't like it.
PART 3
Becoming a Myth
Kai left the warehouse at dawn. Rain slick streets reflected neon chaos. The city was waking, unaware.
The underworld knew something was hunting them. A boy. A shadow. A nightmare.
Kai whispered to himself:
"Let them fear. Let them wonder. I am not a hero. I am… a consequence."
Inside, the bio-organism twitched, testing boundaries, pushing him toward chaos.
Kai smiled slightly, hoodie soaked, eyes cold.
"I will not become a monster… not yet."
Above the streets, in the darkness, the city didn't know it…
…but the Boogeyman had rules. And rules make legends unkillable.
