ARC 1 – CHAPTER 6
THE DETECTIVE
PART 1
A Mind Like a Trap
Detective Mara Reyes leaned against her car, eyes scanning the latest crime scene footage. Three dead men, no fingerprints, no cameras triggered… except one.
"She's not just lucky," she muttered. "Someone's planning this."
Her instincts screamed that it wasn't random. Someone trained, strategic, deadly.
Across the rooftops, Kai watched. From the shadows, he studied her, noticing the precision in her observations, the subtle calculations in her gaze.
She's smart, he whispered to the bio-organism.
She'll chase me.
Kai smiled under his hood. Let her.
PART 2
The First Game
Mara's investigation led her to alleys Kai had already abandoned, clues deliberately left as breadcrumbs. She wasn't just following evidence—she was predicting him.
Kai tested her.
Dropping a fake trail, he watched her react. She didn't stumble. Didn't panic. Every movement, every deduction, she countered perfectly.
The bio-organism pulsed.
She's dangerous.
Kai grinned.
"Exactly what I like in a cat-and-mouse game."
The city around them slept, unaware of the deadly dance taking place just above street level.
PART 3
Respect in the Shadows
Kai finally disappeared before Mara could catch him. But she knew one thing:
This boy… this monster… was unlike anyone she had ever faced.
Back in her car, Mara muttered, scanning the night sky:
"Who are you?"
Kai, far above in the shadows, whispered into the rain:
"You'll find out… eventually."
The predator respected the hunter.
The hunter respected the predator.
But only one could control the city.
