Jena left her father's room and entered the room she shared with her younger sister. "The room was very small," Jena muttered with a gloomy face. She stared at the hole in the wall, imagining how the cold air would surely enter at night because of the wind blowing through the crack.
Jena took her clothes and walked to the backyard, because the bathroom was outside the house and next to the outdoor kitchen.
"Jena, take a bath! I've already poured hot water into the tub. After that, call your sister to take a bath too," said Jira when she saw Jena carrying her clothes. Jira smiled softly at her daughter.
"Yes, Mom. Thank you," replied Jena, then entered the bathroom and took a quick bath.
After getting dressed, Jena came out of the bathroom. Seeing that her mother was no longer in the kitchen, she immediately went to her father's room to tell Jeslin to take a bath. When she entered the room, Jena saw Jeslin joking with their father, who was already awake and looking much better. His face was no longer pale, and his breathing was smooth.
Their father did suffer from asthma and had a blood circulation blockage that caused several illnesses. But now his illness had been cured, and he only needed rest and nutritious food to recover.
"Jeslin, take a shower first. Mom has prepared hot water. We'll have dinner soon," said Jena, looking at her sister.
"Yes, sis."
"Dad, I'm going to take a shower first. We'll talk later," said Jeslin, kissing her father on the cheek before leaving the room. Jiro Argantara chuckled at his daughter's spoiled and cheerful behavior.
"Dad, how are you?" asked Jena awkwardly.
Jiro smiled at his eldest daughter, even though she was only five minutes older than Jeslin.
"Dad is fine. Thank you, Jena. You've worked hard to find a cure for Dad's illness and to replace Dad at work," said Jiro sincerely. His twin daughters were now grown up, even though they had often given him headaches with their antics.
"I'm the one who should be grateful, Dad. You have taken care of us with love even though we often cause problems," said Jena with a chuckle. She wiped the corners of her eyes, feeling suddenly melancholic, even though she rarely cried.
Jiro spread his arms, asking Jena to come into his embrace.
"Father..." Jena murmured softly as she hugged her father, who was still sitting on the bed. Her heart felt warm, tears streaming down her cheeks. In their previous modern life, Zena and Zeslin had always envied children who had parents. They had longed for that love. Now, in this world, they could be reunited with their parents.
"Don't cry, my beautiful and strong daughter. You have done a great job protecting your sister until now. Forgive your father and mother for not being able to care for and protect you in the past," said Jiro.
Jena frowned in confusion. "What do you mean, Father?"
"It's like a dream, but I'm sure it was my previous life. Father once had a pair of twin daughters. But because of the massacre, Father and Mother died. We were at peace because we gave you the necklace and ring. Those items kept you together and prevented you from being separated," explained Jiro.
"Yes, Jena. Father was reincarnated and born again in this era. Your mother's memories are still sealed, but that's okay. Now we can reunite without the clan endangering our lives," he continued softly.
Jena sobbed upon hearing this. The burden she had been carrying seemed to vanish.
"Shh, calm down. Don't make your mother worry," said Jiro.
Jena nodded and wiped her tears. "Does Jeslin know, Father?"
Jiro nodded. "Father already told her. Now let's go out before your mother yells for us to come eat."
"Is Mother like that now too, Father?" asked Jena, remembering her mother's old habits.
"Yes. That's why Father is sure your mother has also been reincarnated, only her memory hasn't been unlocked yet. Let time answer that," said Jiro.
Before they could leave, Jira's voice called them to eat. Jiro and Jena laughed when they heard it.
Jena helped her father stand up and slowly walked out of the room. In the corner of the room was a small dining table with appetizing dishes. Jeslin was already sitting facing the food, almost drooling over her favorite stir-fried meat. Without realizing it, Jira still remembered their favorite foods.
Jiro, Jira, Jena, and Jeslin ate quietly. Occasionally they joked around until the food was finished. Jeslin helped wash the dishes, while Jena cleaned the house and let their parents rest early.
After everything was done, Jena and Jeslin rested in their room. Their bodies felt very tired, especially since this was their first day in this world.
*************
Morning arrived. Sunlight streamed through a hole in the wall of the room, waking Jena and Jeslin from their deep sleep. After cleaning themselves up, they planned to return to the forest to search for valuable items to sell.
Jena wanted to repair their house because winter would arrive in a few months. If they didn't find money soon, the dilapidated house would be uninhabitable.
After breakfast, they said goodbye and left for the forest. Jiro and Jira let their daughters go because they knew they enjoyed playing and that nothing in this world was as dangerous to them as it had been before.
In the forest, Jena looked for medicinal plants that were highly valuable. In this era, medicine still relied on herbal remedies. Jena, who was skilled in medicine and strategy, chose the plants carefully.
Meanwhile, Jeslin focused on hunting to sell to restaurants. She was skilled in cooking and technology and planned to start a business, but for now, they needed capital.
"Jeslin, I'm going into the deepest part of the forest. Do you want to come with me or stay here?" Jena asked when she saw her sister had caught two large white rabbits.
"I'm coming! Who knows, we might find treasure!" Jeslin said with a grin.
Jena just shook her head as she watched her sister tie the rabbits' legs and cover them with dry leaves so that other animals wouldn't eat them.
After hiding their catch, Jeslin followed Jena. Suddenly, Jena stopped in her tracks. She closed her eyes, using her keen hearing and inner vision.
To the west of the forest, Jena saw two young men fighting a group of men dressed in black.
