It was a usual day at school, Akari finished her practice at the martial arts club and returned home.
"Mom, I'm home."
Her mother, who shared 70% of Akari's features, answered "Welcome, honey, please call your brother to dinner" Akari changed her shoes and nodded.
She walked through the hall and turned to the left bedroom. She knocked the door two times before opening the door and saying.
"Yuto, time to dinner" The kid with childish features turns his head and answers.
"Okay, I'm coming" Akari saw her little brother jump from his bed and run to the table when the food was already served and smile slightly.
"Enjoy!" Her mom said when they took a seat.
Akari saw the warm atmosphere around her and felt really happy. She expects that these moments continue forever. However Akari thought about something for a moment and she knitted brows.
After Akari picked up the dishes she returned to her bedroom. She looked at the door and saw the date. Her birthday was tomorrow. She should be happy because her family always celebrates it. But she could never be happy when that event is probably happening tomorrow.
It has been fifteen years since she came to this world. Nobody knew, but she didn't belong to that world. She used to be a common woman for about 25 years in her previous life. She didn't have a family, so when she suddenly died in a traffic accident. She didn't feel sad. Maybe it was because she didn't have a good life before or because she died young but she was reborn in this world. She was astonished at the beginning. Although she knows all the story, she didn't have any special wish of participating in the principal plot. For other people, maybe it could be an opportunity to become the protagonist of this world or perhaps steal the male character to the female protagonist. Nobody knows, there are many things that you can do when you are reborn in a new world. Like any popular novel she used to read.
But Akari actually never wanted that. She just wishes to live with her family a normal life. But she knew after a long time that she couldn't. For some unknown reason, the original female protagonist 'Kagome' in this world didn't exist or at least Akari has not found her in the whole country yet. At the beginning, she didn't know it, but then she found that her house was very similar to the story's. At that moment, she thought that it was a coincidence; nonetheless, she found more of these 'coincidences.'
Her house was a temple too; the sacred tree was there and the history of the Shikon pearl was revealed to her by her mom. Maybe because her grandfather died a long time ago. These similarities made her panic, so she tried to search for the female protagonist, but she didn't find her. She has been looking for 'Kagome Higurashi' for more than 5 years, but until now she has found nothing.
Of course, when she realized her existence was probably to replace the female protagonist, she felt horror and tried to escape. She tried to get away from Tokyo many times or move away from the temple, but every time she attempted to do it. She failed. So since then she tried to prepare herself the best way possible because she doesn't know what would happen with her. Maybe she can survive, or maybe not. She doesn't want to die. So the only way is to be stronger than the original protagonist. Her sole relief was that she didn't have to act like the original 'kagome'. At least until now, otherwise she would have already gone crazy.
Akari looked at the basement with the well inside and couldn't help but feel afraid of tomorrow. Now, she can only try to rest because maybe it will be her last quiet rest in a long time.
