Chapter 13: The Bitter Truth and the Covenant of Shadows
The group reached the depths of the Glass City, where Queen Alessia was waiting for them with a sad face. When the queen looked at Sai, she placed her hand directly on the spot where Sakuna's seal was.
The Queen's Warning
Queen Alessia: "Sai... you carry a very dangerous power. But do you know what that power does to your body? Sakuna gives you strength, but in return it eats up all your life energy. Thus, you won't reach 20 years old.
Sai turned pale, watching his hands tremble. But inside, Sakuna screamed loudly.
Protecting Sakuna (from within)
Sakuna: "Sai! Don't listen to that old woman! She just wants to scare us. I won't let anything happen to you. Did I lie to you about longevity? Maybe.
Sakuna released a warm energy into Said's heart that eased Sai's pain. For the first time, Sai felt Sakuna genuinely care about her, rather than seeing her as a tool.
The difficult condition
Queen Alessia looked at Volt and then at Aki.
Queen: "For Sai to survive, the seal must be broken. But if the seal is broken, Sakuna becomes a free enemy and Volt loses control. Aki, you must decide: Is your friend's (Sai) life more important, or the stability of the world?"
Volt: (angrily) "No one dies here! Sai is my friend and Sakuna... she's part of us! There must be another way.
Sudden attack
At that moment, a huge explosion shook the walls of the Glass City. Lucifer's messengers had reached the outskirts of the city. "Here is our king! And here is his traitorous shadow! We will take you both back to Lucifer!"
Sai drew his sword, and Sakuna said in a courageous voice, "Sai, let's show them! You and I together... I won't let them get to you. Whether you live short or long, I'll be with you to the last second!"
