Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Chapter 2 pursuit

As I exited the cave, I headed toward the nearby village to gather cultivation ingredients.

The moment I stepped onto the village path, my senses stirred.

Two figures stood ahead of me.

Bai Clan.

My eyes narrowed beneath the mask.

"Do I know you?" I asked calmly. Given how many enemies I had made, hiding my identity had long become a habit.

"Remove your mask, junior," one of them said coldly.

My lips twitched at the word junior. Since they showed no intention of backing down, I immediately circulated my qi and fled.

"Junior, I knew it was you!" the man laughed as he gave chase, his companion following closely behind.

I cursed inwardly. What kind of luck was this—to encounter them the moment I entered the village?

Swoosh!

A sudden pressure surged in front of me. One of them appeared instantly, blocking my path. At the same time, the other sealed my retreat.

"Junior, hand over the manual," he said with a grin. "We promise not to hurt you."

"I don't have it," I replied evenly.

The man frowned. "You're lying."

"Of course not," I said calmly. "I didn't bring it with me."

That part was true. I had long learned never to carry the manual openly.

His expression turned cold. "I see. Since you refuse, don't blame us for being ruthless."

Both of them attacked at once.

I clenched my teeth. I hadn't intended to expose my cultivation—but they had forced my hand.

Boom!

Qi erupted from my body.

They both staggered back, eyes wide with shock.

"Peak Spirit Adept?!" one of them exclaimed. "But the head said he was only at the initial stage!"

I didn't give them time to recover.

I lunged forward.

Boom!

One of them was sent flying. The other quickly regained his balance and unleashed his technique.

Boom! Boom!

Our attacks collided, shaking the ground beneath us.

Seeing an opening, I activated a technique from the manual.

Stars the size of my palm condensed around my hand, glowing faintly as I struck.

Boom!

The second man was blasted away as well.

I exhaled slowly.

Teleportation was no longer an option—the qi consumption was too high, and the distance I could cover was limited. That was why I had chosen to fight instead.

If I wanted to survive in this world, hesitation would only get me killed.
