Chapter 1 - Sequence

The most glorious empire on the ancient continent was the Xianglong Empire. In an era of war and strife, its founding emperor, the Xianglong Emperor, swept away the entire empire with his domineering spirit, completed his hegemony, and brought about a prosperous and peaceful era for the entire empire.

The founding of a nation cannot be separated from generals and ministers of both literary and military talent, and brothers who shared life and death. The founding heroes who assisted Emperor Xianglong at that time were the renowned Grand Magus Wang Shizhi and the illustrious General Leng Liang, the Great Sword Saint. The icy sword energy carved a bloody path for the army like a death knell, while the soaring magical battle aura emitted bolts of lightning that reflected the hopeless and ashen faces of the enemies like chains from hell. On the battlefield, the two were invincible, striking fear into the hearts of their enemies.

After the establishment of the Xianglong Empire, Emperor Xianglong bestowed upon the two men the titles of Left and Right Chancellors. One was a civil official, and the other a military commander. Both were extremely loyal, and in times of great importance, both families would devote all their efforts to protecting the country. For generations, they had devoted themselves to the safety of the Xianglong Empire.

The prestige of the Wang and Leng families, like their battle achievements, was revered by the world. In particular, the brilliance of the Grand Magus Wang Shizhi and the Great Sword Saint Leng Liang on the battlefield was still celebrated by later generations. Every martial artist on the ancient continent aspired to the pinnacle of their abilities.

Unfortunately, the two families had completely different fates. The Leng family became stronger with each generation. Every generation of the Leng family produced a powerful and influential figure who dominated the battlefield and made countless contributions to defending the country. Everyone talked about the Leng family with great interest and praise.

The Wang family, however, suffered a completely different fate. Since Master Wang, only a handful of individuals had emerged who could rival the great archmages of yesteryear. Their population was sparse, with only a few brothers appearing after several generations of single-lineage succession, often causing widespread anxiety and fear of losing their lineage and failing their ancestors. The dazzling magic and soaring sword energy creating a spectacle on the battlefield, the magnificent scene of them fighting side-by-side, was now a rare sight. Whenever the Wang family was mentioned, people could only shake their heads in regret; it was an unavoidable situation, as one couldn't expect everyone to produce outstanding individuals like the Leng family, which was a rare occurrence. Even worse off was the current state of the Wang family. The patriarch, Wang Xiangming, had married three wives in an effort to revitalize the family, working diligently. However, after giving birth to two daughters, his first wife refused to have more children, while his second wife, heavily pregnant and due in a month, was forced by Wang Xiangming, whether impatient or to ensure a smoother delivery, to also enlarge his third wife's belly. Poor Wang Xiangming died young, never seeing his two wives' children come of age, leaving behind a family of lonely women. He died without ever seeing the sex of the children in his second and third wives' wombs, filled with resentment. The Xianglong Empire never forgot the Wang family, who had rendered great service to the empire. After holding a grand funeral for Wang Xiangming, they generously comforted all members of the Wang family. The Leng family had formed a brotherhood since the time of Wang Shizhi and Leng Liang, a bond passed down through generations. When the Wang family faced difficulties, the Leng family would not stand idly by and would help the Wang family handle the situation meticulously.

After Wang Xiangming's death, the Wang family withdrew from politics and lived in seclusion. People's attention to the Wang family gradually faded, and when they were mentioned occasionally, they would shake their heads and sigh with sympathy.
